Some friends of mine got ODST (I have a ps3) and they thought the $60 was a good price for it, but Microsoft should have also had a second version without disk 2 and the multiplayer. If you own Halo 3 then its just firefight, 6 hour campaign, and 3 new maps but if you only own ODST you get a lot more value out of it.

it was so good she wanted replay it right over again. is that even possible i have trouble staying focus playing some games through once letalone twice and especially back to back. case and point i have still yet to finish the first 1.

yeah I like fishing games also but haven't really played a good one in a while I mean a long long while.

I agree with her big ripoff for the ODST it should of never been 60 bucks.

Another thing, cannot wait for uncharted 2 on the 13th, just gonna go buy it not gonna rent it.

Hahaha patrick not gassy today? lol kidding.

I don't like going to other sites, distructoid and joystic they are just bleh man cause I feel like they are 1 sided people who write and I wonder how sometimes things get published out in the open how stupid articals are now days.

so I am kinda picky about reading stuff.

also I am the king of rpg games well used to be.

The industry isn't melting down, it's just going through some huge growing pains right in the middle of the worst recession since the Great Depression.

As someone who works in the traditional newspaper media as well as dabbles with games writing, I see tremendous similarities between not only these niche industries, but the larger media industry as a whole. Advertising revenue is hard to come by now. Publishers are no doubt cutting back on how many ads they purchase, and when they do purchase them they sure as hell don't want your review to bash their game that they're spending money to promote in your product. But that's always been the dichotomy that the journalism industry has had to deal with, and the better, more trusted publications (whether print or online) know how to stand up to the bullying tactics. It happened just today in my newsroom and my editor basically told the advertiser to go F himself and we wern't going to compromise our integrity for their dollars.

The good news is video gaming is becoming widely popular and the "geek" mantra is starting to subside. It may seem unfortunate for us geeks who take pride in the word, but from a writers standpoint you have to be pumped that your audience is growing. Most writers want to be famous. Writers don't make amazing money, but there's a sense of empowerment that your word carries weight or that hundreds or thousands of people read your work and possibly make decisions based on it. When there were only a couple of mags that were the authority, being that writer was easier. Things have changed now, but ultimately the best writers will shine through -- publications' credibility will be strengthened by them and vice versa.

I think all it means for games writers is that you have to work harder now to achieve your end game. In an industry that will likely be very well off when the recession winds down, I don't think that's such a bad thing.

I find metacritic very effective. If I find a game where the subject matter really interests me, and it scores above 75, I'll always like it. And if it meets that criteria and scores 85 or above, I almost always love it. The x factor always seems to be how big of a fan you are of said material. It saved me from Enter the Matrix (small fan of movie), Beowulf (big fan of legend), and Bionic Commando (huge fan of nes game). If you follow that slide rule, you will save yourself a fortune in bad games.

hanras

you guys are awesome

I am sad that ODST is a rip. the irony is that the action figure for it we bought recently was also a rip, VERY poorly constructed
