Cloning Clyde - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Just plain fun
As good as The Lost Vikings if not better.

I've been waiting years for another The Lost Vikings game, and Cloning Clyde is a great platform/puzzle game along the same vein of TLV. The quirky humor is definitely present, as well as the cooperative effort of the other characters (i.e. cloning yourself in order to activate buttons elsewhere in the level), each with the ninja-kicking ability to pummel security cameras and cocky cloned chickens, preventing you and your clones from escaping this human experiment. Although saving other versions of yourself is not a requirement, you do earn bonuses if you help them escape. You'll find notes throughout the level from a previous Clyde-clone with helpful hints on escaping, so you can't help but feel a sense of obligation to help this never-ending cycle of Clyde-clones get out of the lab! Definitely check this game out if you're a fan of The Lost Vikings; I guarantee that you won't regret it.

Unreal Tournament 3 - PC

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Doesn't live up to expectations
  Repetitive gameplay
Got it for the editor

Honestly, the game feels the same as UT2004, except there are pretty emitters, materials, and normal maps to look at. The level editor is a lot more powerful but still a little buggy. Epic really simplified the Unreal scripting with the flow-chart format of Kismet. I spent more time playing with the level editor than the actual game, unlike UT2004.

Team Fortress 2 - PC

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Awesome audio
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Fantastic multiplayer
Just plain fun
Horaay for toon shaders

Aside from the cartoon-ish art of which I adore, the animation and voice emotes are as delightful as the game objectives. My personal favorite is 2Fort, where the identical team bases give equal opportunity for each team to capture the flag--err, briefcase. Pairing up with a decent Medic and Heavy, the duo is nearly unstoppable with a constant hail of bullets and Uber-charged invulnerability. Thank you, Der Doktor! Muahahahaha!

Beijing 2008: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games - PS3

Pros Cons
Intense action Repetitive gameplay
Fantastic multiplayer
Reminiscent of the classic Track and Field

Of all the button-mashing games of the world, this is among one of the games that will result in sore, blistered thumbs. I found myself resting the controller on my lap for leverage while rotating the analogue stick with the palm of my hand -- it was very tiring after the first 10 minutes. The gymnastics discipline requires a bit of coordination along the lines of rhythm-based games, while aquatics requires strenuous button-mashing and analogue stick-twirling. Playing online competitively can be fun when everyone gets to participate at once (e.g. swimming, racing, or hurdling), but I got impatient waiting for other players to take their turn in events such as the javelin toss.
