Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - PS3

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Engaging story
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
A review of few words.

Buy this game. Now.

OK, enough joking. Seriously, this game shows off the PS3's potential and is almost flawless. The difficulty spikes in some areas, but it's never enough to make you give up on the game. Graphically it looks great, the sound's fantastic, the story is captivating, and there are plenty of reasons to go back and play again (for the sake of finding extra treasures, getting unlimited ammo, etc). Here's hoping for a sequel!

Mass Effect - Xbox 360

Massively Effective

If you own an Xbox 360 and not this game, go sell your 360 because you don't deserve it. Mass Effect is a seemingly perfect combination of action, rpg, and third-person-shooting that will keep you entertained for hours. Whether you're tackling one of the many, MANY sidequests, making difficult decisions (to take down the crime boss and start a gang war, or to let the crime boss continue being a slave trader?), or just trying to see a glimpse of alien booty, you will become one with this game. Graphics are superb, the sound hits all the right notes, and the controls, while confusing at first, are very tight. The inclusion of Force-like Biotic powers is a nice touch, and allows you to almost completely customize how you play the game. Basically, it boils down to this: there are lots of "should play" titles, but few "must play" ones. This is a must play.

Super Mario Galaxy - Wii

Buy This Game.

Super Mario Galaxy was massively hyped within the gaming community, but not so much on TV, and while that may have hurt its sales in comparison to Halo 3's, this is the better way to spend $50. The game has your typical plot for a Mario game: the princess is captured by Bowser, there are a bunch of turtles and goombas to squash, and you'll do it all while looking fashionable in new costumes, such as good ones (the Bee Suit and Fire and Ice Marios) and bad ones (Boo Suit, Spring Mario). Gameplay-wise, this is the reason you bought a Wii. Yes, there's Zelda, Resident Evil 4, and some other good ones, but nevertheless, you will feel validated once playing this game. The graphics are beautiful, the best-looking on Wii to date, and while the camera can cause some minor problems, this feels like the sequel to Super Mario 64 that Super Mario Sunshine should have been. The only problem with controls is that swimming is still rediculously hard. Level design is very creative, ranging from the really easy missions to the oh-my-God-is-it-over-yet final level, which merges so many tricks with gravity, the Wiimote's functionality, and your own prowess to mention here. The game is also easier than Mario 64, but I won't count that as a bad thing concerning the Wii's approach to making sure everyone can play. It's still a tough game for the casual gamer, but experienced pros will beat it without too much problem. Overall, if you have a Wii, you need to get this game. Pop it in, kick back, and have some fun.
