Guitar Hero: Metallica - Wii

Pros Cons
Loads of content Terrible multiplayer
Addictive gameplay
Just plain fun
Nothing Kills the Metal

So way back last year, GH Aerosmith was released. And that game sold pretty solid for being Aerosmith. But if you looked at any forum about guitar hero, people were clammering for a guitar hero game made for thier favorite band. And guess which band was requested the most? That's right, Metallica!

And oh, did us guitar heros get more than we asked for. The same guitar hero game we know and love is here along with vocals and drums. Some frustrating vocal issues were fixed, such as you can actually read the scrolling words now. And some extra is added from the new score meter that shows how many stars you currently have on the song, (kudos to rock band). But the starpower is still handled all wrong and poorly in band mode, as you all still share it. But this barley takes away from the experience.

Next to any other guitar hero game on the wii, this one is the most visually impressive. Sometimes while playing, I would take some time just to look at what the whole band was doing on stage. Motion capture of each song is well done. And you just won't understand till you play the game. Believe me, Metallica fans will be VERY happy.

As to the content in the game, you unlock all the songs right out of the case. No annoying eight hour play session to get the songs, lol. And there is also a lot of Metallica bounus videos and items to go through. That alone will take a hefty chunk of your time. I do have to admit, though, all the videos and pictures are really compressed and hard to read at times to fit on disk. But it's not like your holding the actuall item or anything anyways. I enjoyed as it was, as a wii owner. So other reviewers can stop thier whining.

This is straight up hard core metal affair. This is no game for whimps either as the difficuty in this game rivals guitar hero 3 in every way on gutiar. Sure there are some light songs, such as Lynard Skynard's, "Tuesday's Gone." But that's it. And Activision took it up a notch on drums with expert +. Believe me, if you have troubles on expert, don't even think about touchin this mode. Your kickin every bass kick from Lars. It's just that insane. But, if you are interested, Activision's store webstite offers a free extra kick pedal and splitter with the purchase of the game for now. A nice addition for drummers.

Online for wii sucks hardcore if you want to start a band. All the awsome modes are there, don't get me wrong. But for some reason they didn't fix the main gripe from GHWT, where you can only connect to two wii's. I thought for sure since Rock band 2 did it, guitar hero would follow up with Metallica's online. But sadly they didn't. And as a result you find hardly anyone online when you search for a 1 on 1 match or in band quickplay. And I laugh at the thought of trying to seach for another whole band to play against in band vs band mode. And heck, I don't even think about wii speak right now, since hope for that in any wii game is a long shot. Basically, get ready to play with friends and thier friend codes, or get ready to bring your wii partyin', because this online experience is like holding an ice cream cone, and watching it melt. It's just a big dissappointment. The only ups I can give the wii version is that you can connect to the community website and track your scores. But that's about it.

This, as I am a Metallica and metal fan, is the best GH game since the good old GH2 days on playstation. (Except the online.) If you like Metallica in anyway, buy this game. It's just so well done and put together, I'm impressed by it every time I boot it up. It's well worth any gutiar hero fans' time in general. Get ready to blast the music till you get a major headache, and even then you'll tell yourself, "Just one more song..."

Guitar Hero and Hand Cramps

So..... I was thinkin about pickin up this game and buyin a DS and the whole shibang. But I tried it out and was utterly disapointed as a long time GH fan. So I pop in the game and was impressed with the guitar grip thing at first. Like "how cool is this!" But after putting the difficult on expert and playin a song I found that my hand just wasn't comfortable. My pinky was almost useless. My hand started to cramp upm like all my hand muscles were all in a knot. I was confused that I was missing notes. Fast strumming was difficult as **** because there was no feed back at all. I was annoyed. And I can understand that the DS can't handle PSP graphics, but the fret board and all looked like a flatly, undetailed, dark, odd looking, scrolling piece of paper. For some reason there was this lag I never really got over. The audio I have to say was impressive coming from a DS. That I have to say was the only up part. Anyway, I was having some fun with the Ozzy song somehow, but come to find out there is only like 25 songs in the game. I then gave up trying to like this game. Seriously? Only 25? Guitar Hero fans looking for some portable version of guitar hero, go try the mobile phone version before this, seriously. Just spend 5 bucks and do it. Don't spend an arm and a leg over this DS version.

Rockin on the Wii

So the Wii gets some love it has deserved for all the features it's big brothers get on the PS3 and 360. So it doesn't have bleeding edge viduals. But this Guitar Hero package is one that is a must buy for all GH fans. All of the gameplay you would expect from a full band game, (and not gimped like rock band 1) you get to customize close to pretty much any damn thing you want to. Sure there might not be as much stuff as the other versions, but a lot for any Wii owner. I personally just picked up the guitar pack, so I can't comment on the drums. But I can honestly tell you it's a solid guitar hero game. The slider bar is fun, but its not life changing. I found myself just screwing around with it half the time then rather seriously using it. The song list is as diverse as you're gunna get, and the music studio is everything but line 6. But like every other version, the songs some out feeling like a ringtone rather than an all out song. I was personally grateful for all the online features and especially DLC. Sure, the internal memory might not handle much, but if you run out of space just save it to and SD. And the game reads right off it so don't worry about any transfer time in game. Mii free is fun using the wii-nunchuck on drums. But guitar is rather just boring for and expert player like me. The game gives you note cards to carry you along, but its all long held chord notes If there is a blazing solo your playing, your'e just playing it by holding down the yellow button. Overall I'm glad with this game, and expect to be playing it a long time. A must buy for any GH Wii owner.

Runescape - PC

Its one of those games...

Ur probably wonderin y i rated RS so low. Well i pwn u in the wildy so dont talk BS or ill take ur dds.C how rediculous that sounded? Ya i thought so. I have a friend(s) that literally waste thier life on runescape. which is not ur problem, but goes to show it is a very addicting game. It has to be the most gay, rediculous, most time consuming, pointless form of life wasting time addicting game EVER!!!!! I HATE RUNSCAPE!!!!

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - Wii

A Legend of Rock

Who is familier with the ever popular "Guitar Hero" franchise? Pretty much everyone reading this. One way or another everybody has at least heard of it, and it instantly became popular with all that scrolling fret board goodness. But now I tell you all here the Wii version isn't bad or horrible as other people make it out to be. It's still guitar hero. And i still play it. From the moment you pick up the Wii guitar, it's almost as if you never felt so much comfort, so much at home. It is one of the huge features to the Wii title, and a good one too. As the extra wieght and cheaper price (because of the Wii remote) makes anyone want to buy it. Sure the noises coming out of it can get VERY annoying, but that is able to shut off. No problem there. The graphics are still better than any other PS2 game, but remember, your not going to get 720-1080p, but if you don't mind that over a good time there's no problem there either. And now the big deal everyone fusses about. It's not that you can't hook up the game to speakers or surround sound, you still can. But you hear the game in mono sound even though the box says stereo. Well I got news for everyone, it doesn't matter. I didn't notice untill somebody told me about it, And the game doesn't sound bad at all. And if you are still wining send in your disk for a free improved one. Activision has it covered. DLC is missing at the moment, but is coming, and we all can wait to see how all that plans out. It was either have the game and wait for DLC, or wait for the game to come out all together. We wouldn't want that, would we? Sure, I want DLC, but I can wait. It still has online features, be happy. All and all, it is still Guitar Hero at it's best and there is no good reason to it put down. And it's ten bucks (or maybe more by now) cheaper. And it will always keep you saying, "just one more song..."
