Halo: Combat Evolved - Xbox

Halo: Combat Evolved

Almost every gamer has heard of the Xbox game Halo: Combat Evolved. Some call it great while others call it trash. The naysayers are wrong. Halo is hands-down one of the best games I have every played. And this is coming from someone who hated frist person shooters. The story of Halo is great and suprising, so I wont spoil it here. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to the game then just "saving the world and killng aliens." However, I will throw my one complaint about Halo out now: toward the end of the game, the single player levels use an almost identical look and structure as the levels in the beginning do. However, you will probably be having too much fun playing with your buddy in CO-OP or by yourself in single player to even notice. Control, graphics, and sound are all top notch. The control is smooth and spot on. The game uses a great dual analog aiming/running setup. The graphics still hold up even among new releases. Environments look great, as well as the characters. The frame rate can slow down a little bit in intense 16 player matches though. You will be running around the gorgeous ringworld of Halo while hearing marines yell at you, your friendly AI construct givng you directions, and alien speak. The music is excellent, and is on par with any other great score you have heard. The multiplayer in Halo is every bit as good as the campaign mode. There are a great variety of stages, from huge canyons to a small hallway-like building. Up to 16 players can play in a game via system link. You can also customize game types to create some pretty interesting diversions of your standard deathmatch. Even vehicles are supported in multiplayer. All said, no Xbox owner should go without Halo. Even if you never enjoyed first person shooters before, give it I try. I hated them and love this game. With Halo in your game collection, there is no need for you to play another first person shooter. That is, until Halo 2 comes out!

Jet Set Radio Future - Xbox

Highly Underrated

Yes, Jet Set Radio Future. I was a bit skeptical about this game when it was first released, but I heard good things and picked it up. I was not disapointed. The game is great, challenging, and has more style than Tony Hawk ever will. The graphics already turn most people off, but they are actually great to look at. The music is also great, with 30 pumpin' tracks to get you in the mood of the game. At first, the game takes a little while to learn how to control and everything, but once you get that down, the game becomes great fun. The game also gets very challenging in the later stages. Ocasionally, a tricky jump might force you to start all over, falling what seems like hours from where your were. You are forced to run all the way back up there to do the same jump. Again...and again...and again...I guess every game has those "slam a controller against a wall" moments. Anway, you should still get this game. Unless you really cant handle one of the only ORIGINAL ideas left in video games, I suggest you get this. You will have more fun than you think.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Xbox

Best RPG on the Xbox. No, wait, best RPG of all time!!

Simply put, the game is easily the best RPG if not THE best game out for the Xbox right now. The game is so much fun, and lets you live every Star Wars dream you have wanted to yourself. The game is also very long, and the Dark Side and Light Side paths are actually very different from each other, which adds replay value. The battle system is also fun and different in its own way. It is kind of real time and kind of turn based. Battles look great, with any weapon you choose. The control is simple and straightforward. After the slight learning curve, you will be giving party commands like second nature. Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, I still suggest you get this game. It is the best Star Wars game ever made, if not the best RPG ever made. If you are a Star Wars fan, you would be crazy not to buy this. You do everything from building your own Lightsaber to Dressing up in Sand People Clothing.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Xbox

If you missed out on this great game the first time, nows your chance!

I am a huge fighting game fan myself, and have never really been into the 2D fighters very much. I mean, Street fighter was good, but I always liked other games better. When this game 1st came out on the Dreamcast, I just ignored it. About 2 years later, i found myself playing this game at the arcade constantly. The game is one of the BEST fighting games on the Xbox, probably second to DOA3. The game is essitainly the same as the DC version, with minor graphical updates and no slowdown. I also think the controller (S) feels better than the playing with the DC controller. If you were like me and missed out on MVC2 the first time around, do yourself a favor and get this game. You will be playing for hours. Its just to bad the Online support was cancelled, but I dont really care. The game is still great playing with some friends.

Dead or Alive 3 - Xbox

Simply put, the best fighting game on Xbox.

Dead or Alive 3 is a great (if one of the best) fighting game. Yes, there are those people who call DOA "nothing but button mashing", and say the fighting system has no depth. Those people should be executed. Graphics arent everything in a game, and to the suprise of many, this is not some stale graphical showcase of a fighter. The game is easy to get into, but hard to master. Counters and reversals are simple to pull of, which is great. It seems like every time you play this game, you discover a "new level" within the fighting system. If you own an Xbox and are a fighting game fan, this is the first game you should get.
