Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - GameCube

The Path to a great series!!

Fire Emblem is one of the most creative franchises I ever witnessesed yet. The first thing you'll notice in the game is the incredible graphics in cutscenes. Cel-shaded and detailed. It's almost like the game broke through the Gamecube's boundaries. Now let's talk about the gameplay. You gather your troops and travel to a gridded battlefield. Your foe's army and your army take turns moving torwards each other. Now when two opposing troops encounter each other, a battle begins. The actual battle displays the troops who are fighting, and the one who charged at the other attacks first. Each troop does about one to three attacks, usually 1, and once they're done, the battle is over and the game goes on. However, the attacks are automatic. Which means, random attacks. Yes, sometimes you do a regular move. But then sometimes you use a really cool move, that instantly kills the foe. But you better use your army wisely, otherwise(here's the trouble) a soldier who dies is dead for the rest of the game. Yes that's right, dead. Which pretty much causes you to reset your game right when the guy dies. What a bunch of bull. I know they're sort of being realistic, but that was a bit too far. The controls are supposed to be simple, since it's an RPG, not some button-mashing game, but the controls are odd becuase... some of the commands are sorta misplaced. Overall, this game is a definate buy. One more problem though; long speaches. The other type of cutscenes don't have voice acting, but text bubbles. And they are quite too long. This game is still a fun game. This should really keep you busy for the next game Goddess of Dawn.

Pokemon Colosseum - GameCube

So boring it bores itself.

This game is extremely boring, and one of the most boring games I ever played. You play as an unnamed thug in a hideout in the desert. You witness a device that can snag other trainers' pokemon, then you steal it and go on your merry way. The graphics are alright, the sound is alright, the control is normal, but the gameplay sucks. Why? Here's why:you run very, very, very slow. It ruins seventy percent of the whole gameplay! The rest of the flaws is the battling. All you do is battle, and battles come so unexpectedbly and at times when you wish you can quit, you have to get to a save point, but before that, more...effin'...battles!! So it's stressful in this case, other than Pokemon Battle Revolution for Wii. And what's worse: the game's sequel, XD:Gale of Darkness,is even more boring. So avoid this game. If it crosses your path, feed it to your Charizard.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - GameCube

As clear as a crystal.

This, didn't look like any Final Fantasy I ever played. I was pretty reluctant to play it, because it didn't seem attracting by looking at the cover, but I tried it anyway. The game is about misiama infecting the lands, every place excpet towns, which are protected by giant crystals, but it needs a certian type of holy water to keep protecting the town. So the town gathers certain people(there are 4 races:Selkie,Clavat,Lilties, and Yukes) so the chosen characters are sent out to fill a special container with the certain holy water. If it fills up,a year passes. Years play a role in the game, as the map screen has certain levels known as "misiama streams". These are streams where you can walk through but in one condition: the special container must have the right element. That's right,if there's a stream requiring fire, and you go in with wind, the winds will push you out the stream. Now let's talk about the normal gameplay. You play as the certain character you chose(4 players can play, but all 4 players must have a GBA. Can't tell you how that works;I don't have a GBA.), and depending on your race, you have a certain weapon, like Lilties have lances, and Clavats have a Sword and Shield. So about the gameplay, you run around, looking for the tree in the certain level you're playing in that gives you some of that holy water, you fight monsters. This isn't like normal FF games; you fight in-game, as if it was Zelda or something. FF fans might not accept this, which is probably why gamers didn't want to buy this. But, hey this is an awesome game. And you have a command list, with two default commands you cannot get rid of:Attack and defend. Attack has a normal attack combo, usually up to 3 strikes, and a charge attack. Along the level, you'll find orbs called magicites. These orbs can be put in your command list so you can perform certain spells, like purple magicite orbs is the thunder magic. But unfortunately, once you beat, quit,or lose the level, you lose the orbs. This may seem dumb but luckily, they seem sort of common in the levels. The graphics are wonderful. They're so detailed. The sound's good, not perfect, but good. Control is quite awkward, especially tapping away with your A button while shifting commands with the L button. From all this, this game is a good buy. You'll be glad you gave this game a chance.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon - Wii

Incredibly awesome game!!!

Well, the second you're gonna read this, you're gonna be thinking:"What? A person thinks that a fighting game on the Wii,is good?!?!". Well,no:it's genious. Like Sonic and the Secret Rings, the controls are quite awkward, but after a day, you'll become a master at the controls.I'll talk about the controls since I am mentioning them. Okay, the motion sensing controls only involve the special moves and the kreate-a-fatality system.Good, right? Yes. So the 4 way attacks are performed on the D-Pad. Weird, but it's good enough. Okay,so the game has a "motion list". Like, certain attacks will respond to an Up-Down motion,or another will respond to a lower-half-circle-away motion. So,in special moves,it will only involve half circles, left right/right left, and up down/down up motions. But hold up: fatalities have even more motions. With the special moves have the remote only, but in fatalities, there's even more!! And the addition of Nunchuck, and even both! But they're so easy. Now onto the goodies. There's a character in all 3 versions(Wii,PS2,and XBOX) called Chameleon.Well,in the Wii version, there's another character in the Wii version called Khameleon. Yes,a character only in the Wii version with a pun of someone else's name. But in my opinion,Kahmeleon is a much better fighter than Chameleon. Okay, another goodie is the addition to an endurance mode, also known as survival mode. Now this isn't much of the survival mode you know: after 13 matches(around there),You'll fight the boss of the game,Blaze;a secret character from Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. After you kill him, that's it! You win! So basicly,Endurance is a little harder version of Arcade, but endurance can get you alot of koins too. And finally, there's 3 more menu backrounds in the game. Nothing much, but It's pretty cool. they added backrounds with Cyrax and Sektor,Raiden and Shinnok, and Shao Kahn and Sindel. Now,is it worth it? Will I actually want to play it? Is it good as much as Super Paper Mario or the other big guys on the Wii? The answer is obvious:Yes. So buy it!

Sonic Riders - PS2

Kirby Air Rider's Rival

Okay,Kirby Air Ride was good, and this game...this game...is awesome. The graphics aren't the best kind, but they're alright, because this is PS2! Not PS3 or Wii or XBOX 360 or whatever. Anyway, the controls are easy. I got the PS2 version. "O" is to boost, and if you ram into someone during a boost, you attack them, like Jet the Hawk might sneeze on them or Wave the Swalow might yell at them. You can also make a tornado behind you by pressing R1 and L1.But those actions consume air.If you run outta air,you will start running through ths stage instead of soaring through! Holding "X" will make you crouch, but unlike other games that involve boards,it doesn't make you faster. Instead, this is the charging moment of a jump. This only useful when you are on a ramp, about to jump. And when you charge enough, you will soar into the sky high, and if you tilt the left analog stick all around everywhere, you perform tricks!!If you land correctly, you will get more air in your guage. So pretty much, controls are good. Now sound...I don't pay attention to sound when it comes to racing games, but I think by listening to some detailed whatever,it should be about alright. Sound is timed right when you step on the ground, but the sound ain't ultimate. Sonic Riders is a must-buy for people who enjoy Sonic and who enjoyed Kirby Air Ride. But some people who seek Smash Bros. Brawl might ignore this wonderful game.
