Not for fans who read Marvel Civil War
Overall this is a great game and highly polished. It plays just as you would expect from an Ulitimate Alliance or X-men Legends game. The leveling system is top notch, lots of options, and the best part is no penalty for switching around your experience points. All characters level up almost equally, so if you decide to try out the invisible woman, it won't hurt your leveling up of Storm but taking her out for a mission. Also you can change heroes on the fly at any time (except bosses), so the action stays are fresh and varied as you make it. It does get repetitive, the missions all seem to last a half hour or a little more.
So hows the story? It's excellent. One of the best Marvel stories in a long time. But the videogame does not capture the emotion of the characters or go into why they are at a civil war. It will mention why the war started, but it won't show the emtional turmoil of more than two characters in a quick cutscene before you choose a side. If you read the Civil War comic, expect to be dissappointed. Many heroes who chose one side or another can actually play for either side. There is no switching of sides for spiderman, it was ignored. Also you can play as several x-men (storm, wolverine, iceman, Juggernaught if you preorderd). In the comic there were no x-men when the civil war started, they stayed neutral, but here it doesn't seem to matter. Normally this wouldn't bother me, and if I hadn't actually read one comic in the last year with this being the one storyline, then I would have loved the game. As it stand its only 4 stars. Even without reading the comic, I would still not have given it 5 stars since they emotions are horribly bland in the game (so I'm not totally biased).

Not quite perfect
This game is a blast once you unlock multiple powers and rain destruction on your enemies. Unfortunately the enemy AI is shallow and easy to evade, the missions are often lengthy and repetitive, and the additional side events are unimaginative except for the glide to a bullseye event. The story is very bare and merely a framework for the missions, and the hidden story that you earn from consuming people are all in seizure inducing flashbacks that ranger from interesting buy way too short at 20 seconds, or "why did they include that". Basically this feels like Spiderman web of shadows, but you are evil and can rip people to shreds and change identities. Once you play this game for a while, you realize he controls a lot like spiderman, but thats a good thing. So if you're looking for a sandbox city, this is a good place to start, but don't expect variety or intelligent enemies.

Sadly Unfun
As an SSX 3 fan I was excited about the chance to choose my own path down the mountain again and pull off huge tricks in Shaun White. Instead, I found out this game sees one flip (maybe two on a huge jump) with a single grab to be an accomplishment. It is more based in reality, which is boring to some as I don't care how a real snowboarder rides, I just want to have fun with crazy tricks and a fast, exciting mountain to ride. The tracks are set up well, but it feels like you are turning a small bus to try and make the tricks you want. Character customization is also under par with few options and most of them just color changes. Also if you've read other reviews you know about the coin collecting, yes its there, it is annoying, and steals away what little fun was left. You find yourself watching the radar just like GTA and not enjoying the ride, you just want to reach the destination. After an hour of searching for these you will notice you are not playing a fun sports title, you are dragging your snowboard at a slow pace while searching for stupid coins. As if there were a further insult possible, the missions almost demand your friends list owns the game as well for some missions to even run, and the single player missions are flawed by horrible turn physics and poor tricks. I don't intend to waste over 8 hours to reach the "ridiculous tricks" in the late game that some reviews complain about, cause this game is not worth my or your time. Sorry for the candor.
