Madden NFL 09 - Xbox 360

Oh baby, how I longed for this game. Hell, I waited until midnight at my local Gamestop opening day just to get the damn thing. I, like so many guillible bastards thought that since it was the 20th anniversary, 09 would be super special awesome... but we were wrong. Oh sure, it's just 08 repackaged but with Brett Favre as the coverboy, the nifty Backtrack feature, Madden Iq (which ain't all it's cracked up to be) and Chris Collinsworth (who gives a much needed boost to the commentating) but still is fun, nonetheless. The graphics get a major overhaul, and the overall presentation is finger licking good. The rewind feature is a pretty good addition to ease n00bs into what otherwise, would be a steep learning curve. As I stated before, the idea of Madden Iq on paper sounds promising however, it's just a number that goes up or down depending on your performance and the AI doesn't seem to change drastically as you improve. I expect this will change next year and will be commonplace for the next installments. Oh yeah, the AI still does boneheaded moves like running out of bounds while wide open and running down the clock even though it's the 2 minute warning and they got their pansy asses handed to them. In retropect, while Madden Nfl 09 doesn't reinvent the wheel, it still is a solid title and worthy of the name Madden, so if you like football and you're a red blooded American this the game for you. (Also because it's the only game in town) TOUCHDOWN CELEBRATIONS FTW

Face your Demons... THEN SLICE THEM INTO BITE-SIZED BITS

Oh yeah... Devil May Cry 4 is sleek, sexy, and satisfying as hell. You start off as a Nero, who looks somewhat like Dante, only not nearly as badass. He has a nice demon arm thingy that grabs enemies and throw them like ragdolls. As I grow more comfortable with the controls, I fight outlandish bosses and walk through painfully linear levels. After being a bully to endless waves of hapless losers for about half the game, the controls switch to Dante, who has enough weapons and witty one-liners to kill a third world country. Howeve,r the transition is not seamless, and it takes used to playing as another character. The thing that really is not super special awesome, is that even though the characters are different, the levels and bosses are recycled. If fact some bosses you face THREE times... talk about lame. Oh yeah the camera ain't so hot either. Well after all my whining is said and done, it's still a fun game that's sweet, sweet eye candy.

What's more badass than slaughtering Locusts with huge steriod fueled men with big guns? NOTHING This game is a visual powerhouse that reeks of manliness and the cover mechanics are well executed. The whole duck behind cover thing, then popping those sucker Locust heads like pimples is not only fun, but a unique alternative to the tried run and gun of shooter. The game is so much fun, that I actually want more villians to kill. The lack of the number of enemies is not the games only draw back. The total absense of any story leaves me wondering... why am I fighting these ugly assholes anyway? To add to the nit picking... why only a handful of guns? I mean I went through the entire campaign using only two guns, now that's just sad. Alright I think I poked fun at it enough, Gears is awesome, the sequel will be uber sweet, and oh yeah....GET TO THE GAME STORE NOOOOOWWWW!!!!

Mario Kart Wii - Wii

OH MOMMA MIA I'M A GONNA CRASH!!!

Mario Kart is like interactive crack, one taste and your addicted. The game is so goofy and over the top, I can't help but to love it. Using the power ups to make tools outta of your rivals is priceless, but beware... karma is a bitch. Your enemies constantly bombard you and winning is more a matter of chance than skill. The tracks however, are freakin' sweet and fun to play. It's good clean fun for all ages and must have for the Wii.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Wii

Not prefect, but still hella cool!!!

Let me just say, that as much fun as I had with this game, I still feel that Melee was and still is, the holy grail of Nintendo mascot throwdowns. Brawl has a more diverse roster and more arenas, but it some how lost some of the charm of the last installment. Brawl does little to forward the frachcise and instead, it does a Soul Calibur number and dumps more content and lame characters. The stage editor is ok, but it's not really needed and neither are the classic game demos. My biggest beef is the addition of the final smash: it's way too powerful and cheap as all hell. Still, it's Smash Bros. and it's great as a party game and good for venting your frustrations after a day in the cold and uncaring reality that is life. Beating the crap outta R.O.B. makes my day complete. BULLYING FTW
