Headhunter - PS2

Needed a bit more time in development if you ask me.

Headhunter is definately a mixed bag. Attempting to cross the genres of Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter, Headhunter's results are satisfying, buy I could have seen it going so much farther. Storywise, Headhunter takes Jack Wade, an amnesiac bounty hunter who lives in future USA. He wakes up in a hospitial, and at his bedside is Angela Stern, rich daughter of the late Christopher Stern. She asks Jack to find her father's killer and well, kill him. Pretty standard storyline that makes some unnecessery twists and turns. It seems that if there's something good with the game, the something wrong with it. The graphics are very good, even though they fall short (very short) of Metal Gear Solid 2's. But, with these good graphics, it seems to be missing some polish and there is occasional slowdown. The sound department is much of the same. The voice acting is very good. But then, the rest of the sounds are repetitive and get very boring. Controls come next, and even though the control scheme is good, I still have problems with it. Why press Triangle to press up against the wall. Why couldn't it have been more like Metal Gear? This I don't know. Another glaring flaw is the camera. In many of the frustrating VR Missions, the camera took of chunks of time because I couldn't get the thing behind me. Aside from these flaws however, there's a great game here. If only Acclaim could have worked on it a tad longer, this would have gotten a 5.0.

Maximo: Ghosts to Glory - PS2

I wouldn't really care if I never played it again.

Maximo is basically a 3D remake of the Capcom classic Ghosts 'n Goblins. You can see the resemblenses easily. But what I don't understand why I just don't care about Maximo. THe graphics are nice, the sound is good, controls are shaky but still standard, why don't I care? Everything was great about this game except, well, it just wasn't fun. Basically you stroll through detailed levels facing the same old enemies with a life bar about as big as Pac Man's. I just didn't really give a rat's ass about the game after I played it.

Kabuki Warriors - Xbox

Please no!! I'm only human!!!

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! After being bored to a high degree after playing the extremely horrid Kabuki Warriors, I want to gouge out my eyes, sit on my stove, and eat thumbtacks rather than playing it again. This is absolutely the worst game ever. It is just plain crap. Gamepro should have been honest and given this game a straight 0.5 because that's what it deserves.

Final Fantasy X - PS2

I'm gonna limit my words here...

All that I'm gonna say that this is the RPG. If you love RPG's, you'll love this game. The only thing is the main character looks too much like Meg Ryan and that frightens me. Otherwise, this is probably one onf the greatest PS2 games to date.

Septerra Core - PC

Wow, I'm officially impressed.

Septerra Core, that's odd, I've never heard of that game. If you these thoughts fluttered through your mind when you saw the game, you're not alone. This game has stayed under the radar for a long time, and kind of snuck into stores. Hardly anybody noticed. Sad, since they're missing a great RPG. In Septerra Core, you play as Maya. She is a nomad, like many other people in her town. She must unravel the lost secrets of Septerra and defeat an unknown evil. The graphics, while not breathtaking, are still pretty decent. The only thing is the facial animations are pretty average. The sounds are also pretty good, but just don't astound you. The controls, again while decent, have their flaws. The battle system is rather confusing and it takes a while to get use to. The only other true flaw of Septerra Core is it's difficulty level. To be honest, the game is hard. It is a worthy buy though. Now, it's bundled with some other game called Shogo for only 10 bucks. Good buy if ya ask me...
