A awesome, addicting game!
This game is not as revolutionary as it is smoetimes thought; they were many other games like this, it's just this got the mainstream appeal. It got that because it used music that people in the US liked, not some J-Pop. Still, it's a awesome game with huge replay value. I'll go into sections about the game....... Graphics: This game really dosen't change that much graphically than the previous game. The characters do look a little better, but this game is not played for graphics; everyone knows that. It's played for its addicting gameplay, and is a good strarter kit for picking up a real guitar. Sound: This game has a amazing setlist, much better than the first. The first game had too many radio friendly songs, which was probably good for making a first game of this type; still, i'm glad a lot of these songs aren't hugely played on the radio. The game has around 60 songs, 45 normal songs plus the bonus 20 something songs. Most of the normal songs are great, and a blast to play; although, some songs on here really suck. A couple i personally hate are,"Woman,"Rock This Town", and the song by Spinal Tap, can't remember its name. All of the other songs are pretty fun at least. The bonus songs are more of a mixed bag, some of which are really awesome, and some just really suck. Still, there bonus, so you really can't go wrong there. Gameplay: This game is much easier in one aspect:hammer ons and pull ofs. In the first game it was annoying to have the button before it to do the hammer on or pull offs; this game is much easier, as it allows you to just press the button without having to strum it. Still, this game is much harder in terms of solos; they are much longer and more difficult. The gameplay is still great, but easier this time around. Controller: I like this controller much more than the first game's; it just fits better around the fingers, and is more comfortable. It also looks cooler. Control: The controls are still tight as ever, although i do hope in GH3 they make it a little easier on the reaction time; you either hit the note or not, which could be fixed. Replay Value: This game has a ton of replay value, as there's 4 diffrent difficulty modes. That's a lot of play time to master each song on each difficulty. There's also alternate costumes, new characters, and more bonus songs to buy. Overall, this is a excellent sequel, and a must buy music game.

Great end to the current gen MK, bring on the next gen baby!
Well, this is it; the last MK game for the current generation consoles. MK8 will only be released on 360, PS3, and Wii, so they needed to go out with a bang. I think they did, but this could've been better. I'll divide the game into seperate sections of play options in the game. Arcade, 2-Player, and Online: This game has a lot of characters to play as! 64 in all! That's many choices to play as. You can choose any of your old favorites, as all characters throughout all MK games(except some non-important characters) are playable, and most are unlocked at the start. While this may seem like a good thing, it's actually kind of bittersweet. Sure, it's great having 60 characters unlocked from the start, leaving you only 4 to unlock, but I kind of wished they would've only have unlocked around 20-30 characters from the start, you had around half the total amount of characters to unlock. The replay value of this game is diminshed alot by this. Still, the gameplay is very good, much better than Deception, and I actually like having two styles more than three. Still, some characters are unbalanced, but not unbeatable either. 2-Player gives you much more replay value, as you can have almost endless fun playing fights with your friends. Also, another downside is the Arcade endings; they really suck overall. i'm not going to spoil any, but most are horrid, but bearable. Online is another place where this game shines other than gameplay, you can spend months playing this online, since they'res so many characters. Konquest: Konquest is very fun in this game, although it's a button masher at times. You play the role of Taven, a half god, son of Argus. You awaken in some rock tomb awoken by some dragon. He says you must beat your brother Daegon, and stop Armageddeon. This game is actually much more fun than i thought. They give you many ways to kill people, like on ice spikes and unto grinders. You will also fight many people on your journey, which you fight in like Arcade Mode. This game also has a lot of replay value because of the 60 trophies you can collect, which help you unlock secrets. The only real problem with this is that it's short. Motor Kombat: This is kind of a dumb mini-game, but it can give you some fun. Still, this game is really fun online. KAK: On MKA you can kreate your own character! This has the most replay value out of anything else in the game IMO, as you can think of infinite character ideas. Make Sephiroth, Cloud, Mario, Power Rangers, whatever suits your fancy. You can also make storylines for them, and customize their movesets. Graphics: This game is starting to look dated in this department. The game looks good, but could've used some tuning in the graphics department. Overall, this is a great end to the current gen MK, and will keep you busy for qutie some time. Still, MK8 in 2008 will kick major butt! Bring on the next gen MK baby!

This game is the Gamecube's killer app!
Okay, this is my favorite game on the Gamecube, period. This game just totally owns. I'll go into sections about the game...... Story: The story is what you'd expect, but it's a little better in Melee(in terms of the actual reasons why they're fighting.) Instead of toys of a anonymous hand, this time they're trophies that are fighting to the death. Much improvement there. Now to the story mode, this is one of the places where it just totally blows away the original. There's soo much more to do in this game one-player wise than the original, you've got your basic but fun story mode; then you have the awesome Adventure Mode, which takes you to many places in Nintendo history. Then you have All-Star Mode, which is a brawl where you have to beat all characters in Melee, with a limited number of health items and lifes. You also have Home Run Contest, which challenges you to see how far you can propel a sandbag, and this is how you unlock a level(spoiler).Next, you have the Target Test for each character, which is very fun as it challenges to master each character. You also have events you can do, which in all there's over 50; these have random objectives, from simple to complex objectives. Finally, you have fights with the fighting wire frames, which have about 5 diffrent modes or ways to fight them. All in all, this game is just as much fun single-player as multi. Multiplayer: This is where the original shined, and this one is no exception. I got this game the week it came out, yet I still play it for multiplayer battles, as they never get old. You get plenty of characters, and plenty of new items, and plenty of new stages to play at. New Items: The new items are overall very good. You have the awesome superscope, which can shoot pea size blasts, or if charged can be a bomb of blasts. The freezie is my favorite new object, it obviously freezes opponents. The flipper is cool, but at times annoying. The Lip's Stick is a cool item, when hit upon a opponent, it sprouts a flower on their head that deals damage for a few seconds. Food is a recovery item, useful but not something that will probably change the tide of battle. Mr.Saturn is my least favorite new item, dosen't do much damage and is just a waste of time picking up as he moves freely. New Characters: This game has all 8 characters from the original, plus 16 new characters, which comes to a total of 24 characters; that's a lot of characters to play as. Bowser is cool, very strong, but slow. Ganondorf plays similiar, albeit a little stronger, but much slower. Marth and Roy are clones, but Roy is much better to play as IMO. Peach is useful, as well as Ice Climbers, Zelda, and Ness, if you know how to play as them. Falco is great as well, he plays similiar to Fox. New Stages: This game gives you around 15 more stages to play at, and a lot more are interactive. Some of the highlights are: Hyrule Temple, Corneria, Pokemon Stadium, Planet Zebes,Mute City,Mushroom Kingdom, Termina Bay, and Flat Zone. Graphics: SSBM is simply stunning graphically. This game has still great graphics, to this day. You can see soo much detail on Mario's pants, and the textures are great. Characters are no longer boxy as well. Sound: This game has some great music. Music for the stages are great, suit the stages very well. Replayability: Well, this game has the most replayability out of ANY GAME, IMO. I still play this game, six years later, and am not tired of it. There's soo much to do in this game, you will not be tired of it for years to come. Unlockables: Hundreds of things to unlock await you in SSBM. There's 12 characters to unlock, around 10-15 stages, over 290 trophies, and more. Overall, this game is the killer app for the Gamecube, and is in my top five favorite games of all time. Final Score:5/5
