An Intense Racer!
WOW. This game is intense! The moment I started this thing up I was hooked. There is a lot to like about Burnout, cool cars, amazing tracks, great AI, and great graphics. While the graphics are really good they can get really fuzzy and that makes it hard to see into the distanse. The best feature in Burnout is definitly the carshes, you see the damage done to your car in slow motion and that is just plain cool.

A Very Strange Game
The game is amazingly fun and filled with wit and creativity. Each of the teammates has a different set of strengths, so you must adapt not only to the different environments, but also to your character' abilities. For instance, Max is a run and gun type of guy. Kurt is more of a stealth/sniper type, and Dr. Hawkins solves the puzzles in the game. MDK2 is a treat for anyone who relishes unique, ingenious but challenging gameplay. Gamers should welcome this return to difficulty. I sure did.

Another Original Game from Rockstar!
In the long list of PlayStation 2 games to arrive at launch (27 in all), few titles are original and startling. Perhaps that's because the first PlayStation created such a legacy that every publisher that performed well wanted to repeat its success with the same games on PS2. Rockstar had success on PS, but it took the effort to create something new on PS2 with Smuggler's Run. Taking advantage of several of the PS2's new technical features, developer Angel Studios, known for games such as Midtown Madness (PC) and Ken Griffey, Jr. Baseball (N64), has created a racing-action game that enables one to two players to feel and see something brand new phenomenally huge landscapes that can be reached no matter how far the distance, smart team AI, and an extravagant physics engine that makes for some extremely fun off-road racing.

Second Best Launch Game!
Up until last year on the PlayStation, there were almost no memorable first-person shooters to speak of, save a few early eccentricities, and last year's Metal of Honor. But the PS2 has done away with small RAM bottlenecks (mostly) and it has more floating point processors than you can shake a stick at, so creating free-moving 3D games, especially first-person shooters ain't no problem no more. So, it's no surprise then that the first thing the former Rare guys did was make a you guessed it first-person shooter on PlayStation 2.

An Original Racer.
In the long line of racing games for the PlayStation, only a few names really remain, Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer, and Need for Speed. A few more could arguably be tagged onto that list, but those are really the top dogs. With the exception of Driver, the most memorable racing games were straight up racers. On PlayStation 2, racing games aren't necessarily what they used to be. Take Midnight Club: Street Racing for instance. It's not really a straight racing game by any means, it's a tailored, specialized, illegal form of racing. And it's top notch, too. Midnight Club brings back a simple arcade-style racing and weaves in mission-based and team-based gameplay it's a fast, supernatural kind of driving that melds some really great proven coin-op elements with PC style gameplay under one hood.
