Wet - PS3

Pros Cons
Awesome audio Doesn't live up to expectations
Intense action Repetitive gameplay
Addictive gameplay
Just plain fun
Wet...cut & dry.

If you go into this game expecting the next evolution of the action adventure/hack-n-slash shooter, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. WET isn't the next evolution and playing the game, you get the idea that the developers meant for it to be this way.

The visuals are o.k., nothing spectacular but they get the job done. The dirty film filter over the screen as you play the game gives it that old B-Movie feel which is kind of cool, if you're into that, but you do have the option to turn it off which makes the visuals even better.

Control wise, the game is responsive, but the animation is clunky, repetitive (like the enemy types you will fight) and the environments call for platform elements that work sometimes well, and not so much in during the times you need it to.

The highlight feature of the game is when Rubi (the main character) goes into rage mode with makes the game look like an updated version of Mad World. In this mode you become a body blender and rip through enemies with ease and efficiency. Quick time events are also included, but they are not overdone to the point it becomes a crutch for the game.

If you have played the demo, you may already know what WET is about and have made your mind up on whether you would buy it or not. But if you haven't try it, and see that even though it's not GOTY material, it is worth a look.

Crackdown - Xbox 360

Better than you might think.

I see lots of reviews about Crackdown around the net. Some are good while others make you wonder if the person in question even played the game. First of all, the graphics are nice. The developer was NOT going for mind numbingly beautiful next-gen graphics so I didn't expect Gears of War quality. The animation, controlls, and overall feel of the game is great. I love the level system and the open city feels alive no matter what time of day you are playing in. My only real gripes about Crackdown are the fact that there is no "organization" in the organized crime syndicates you are trying to tear down. You can actually go right for the big boss and kill him (if you get lucky enough) and then just clean up the left overs with niether boss really putting up a real fight. The second is the lack of a true story. Yeah a floating voice lets you know what your mission is at the start of the game, but that's it. "You're an agent cloned to clean up the city...now get to it." Mulitplayer is fun if you can find someone who wants to play the game and not shoot you with rockets every chance they get. The new modes, cars and weapons add some extra replayability to it, but the fact that you can resurect the gangs is what really has me coming back again and again. Maybe I'm one of the few who love Crackdown, but for those who slept on this title, I say give it a second look. Play it. Play it some more, and see if it doesn't grow on you.

Armored Core 4 - Xbox 360

If it ain't broke...

After years of enjoying the Armored Core series, the ACs have finally made way to the next-generation for fans to enjoy. The overall feel is still the same, unfortunately, so is the story. The missions are varied and fun, if not short and often frustrating, but the trial and error of outfitting the perfect vehicle is more than enough to warrant a well earned "hell yeah" after a success. The learning curve may be more than enough to turn away the casual gamer, but the hardcore AC fans will drool as we have over the last decade of AC goodness. Oh, and it's has online multiplayer as well. What more can you really ask for? The lack of story, and overall frustration kept this game from being perfect, but being the AC fan I am, I still found a lot to love about AC4, and will recomend it to anyone who calls himself and fan as well.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Xbox 360

Snow cones and big @$$ bugs.

I've been waiting on this game since I played the demo last year and it didn't let me down. The game is beautiful from start to finish and the controlls are very familiar if you are a Halo vet. The story is kind of kooky, but not to the point where you're lost to what's going on. The characters and gameplay are fresh and new and yet there is a bit of old school flavor thrown in for a very welcome and unique feel. But even after all of that, I would have to say the the Vital Suits (VS) are where this game really takes my breath away. There are 17 different VS in the game and you get to hop in all but 2 of them...that's AWSOME!! The game is a bit short, and the Akrid get a little repetitive, but all in all, you can't go wrong with this game as it's arguably one of the best on the 360.

Dead or Alive 4 - Xbox 360

What The?!

IS this the Xbox or Xbox 360? The graphics are cleaner, but the gameplay is all the same. Team Ninja has to do a better job if they want to keep the DOA fans coming back for more. Lackluster title at best. Rent it.
