Finally, something original.

RF:G is one of the best games I've played in a long time. Reading critic and user reviews alike, I can't help but to laugh. Let me quickly say that the campaign is robust and satisfying, the graphics are excellent, and the physics are incredible. I've noticed a lot of complaints that the environments are bland and boring, some people going so far to associate decor with graphical capability, saying essentially that because they didn't like the way the dirt on mars looked, the graphics sucked and therefore the game was broken. But...people... it is mars. do you need lush tropical environments, waterfalls, and pretty colors in every game you play? volition did a great job of making me feel like i was on mars. the five or six sections of mars that you're given the task to liberate all feel and look unique. But screw the campaign, as awesome as it is, the online is where its at. The use of a backpack system gives online gameplay a very tactical shift. jetpack, rhino, stealth, thrust, fleet, xray vision, concussion, firepower etc etc etc. its a kind of hybrid class system. the backpacks are found on racks throughout the levels, only 3 backpacks per rack, making for interesting combinations among teams. thanks to the physics engine that most celebrate, yet some scorn, every game you play the map is going to be totally different. Buildings crumble in a perfect reaction to whatever forces acted on them, sometimes just missing a part of a wall, other times crashing to the ground entirely. players can burst upwards through the floors of buildings to land on the roof (a great quick escape). you can knock down bridges over ravines, killing enemies crossing them, or just effectively isolating parts of the map to players that find the jetpacks. i intended for this review to be short, just couldnt stop typing. go pick up this game. (for ps3 if you wanna get stomped by me =P)
