Killzone - PS2

Horrible single-person player. Magnificent online play

When one purchases a new game from the local gamestore or whatnot, they expect an enthralling storyline, and various, differing levels of originality. When you look at Killzone, you see very similar levels, not enough weapons, and so much more potential. Online, this game is probably one of the best for the PS2, but if you are buying games for single player fun factor, look past Killzone.

Mario Party 6 - GameCube

Earth to Nintendo! TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT! Mario Party 6 totally sucks

When I saw the game, Mario Party 6, sitting on the shelf of my favorite game store, I thought "Maybe I should grab this for my five year old cousin." So I purchased it and brought it home. I decided to play a little bit of it first, and I had major De ja veux. "Have I already played this?" I asked myself, then i realized that Nintendo keeps on making games, just like the ones before, for the exception of a tweeked story line, and slightly better graphics (which still suck). After all, what does Nintendo have? It has had three successful, original franchises. Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. Why don't they wake up and smell the roses? Gamers these days expect good graphics, and complete originality. Come on, Nintendo. I know you can do better than that. Or can you?

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Xbox

Two problems: 1:Too boring. 2:Too damn hard!!

Morrowind is a huge, free-roaming RPG. With total freedom to go wherever you want (quite literally) it is okay when it comes to that. I give the folks at Bethesda Softworks that. But the game is just too damn boring! With a dull storyline, that is a mystery until you pretty much beat it (which takes 1,000 years!) and a dull fighting system (just jabbing swords at monsters) this game turned out to be a true stinker. Addicting at first, but after a week of gameplay I didn't give a rip about it anymore. I am looking forward to the new Morrowind:Oblivion. I have an instinct that Bethesda will not let us down again.

Halo 2 - Xbox

Great game. As good as the original?

There is no doubt that Bungie has created another golden game. With updated, gorgeous graphics, and a full array of alien-busting, explosion-making weapons, this game is no shorter than brilliant. But if you look past the constant action, to the question of why you are fighting, you find that the story-line in Halo 2 is just plain weak. As well as a shallow, easy story-line (compared to the first, totally original, deep storyline), you notice that this game is way too easy! The first Halo took actual skill, and a good long 24 hours, or so to beat, with many different levels. On Halo 2, it can be beaten in somewhere around 12 hours! Half the time it took to beat Halo. Now, before someone out there threatens to kill my family for speaking this way about their Halo 2; I am not saying it is a bad game. In fact, it is probably one of the best games ever created, just not quite as interesting, and intriguing as the first. Sort of a let down to me, but then again, the new map loading sequences that can be downloaded make up for lost time.

Need for Speed Underground 2 - Xbox

Good, but Midnight Club: Dub edition dwarfs it...

When first playing NFS2, I thought what any other car racing gamer would think..."This game is sweet!" But then you realize that there is not that many customizable parts (there are, but not as much as MNC3DE), and it is totally unrealistic. A great arcade game, but for us hardcore gamers, we notice these things. With no damage appearance, and virtually no storyline, (you just race, and buy parts, race and buy parts, etc.) this game is obviously not top of the market. If you really are a true gamer, and want a satisfactory racing game, check out Midnight club 3: Dub edition (MNC3DE). You'll never turn to Need for Speed again.
