i bought this game at gamestop fill with excitement and imagine the surprise that await me. after three short days of playing gears 2 i became unsatisfied. the story takes place three months after marcus and delta squad planted the lightmass bomb. now it start again. your objective? plant a lightmass bomb. Again. you i pretty sure that doing it again get pretty boring. and it is. but if it weren't for the fresh cool mission and some cool weapon. this game should then be rename gears 1.5. the graphics awesome everthing went from dull land to rainbow land( no homo) everything got fill with color even the armor look shinier. the audio is awesome 80% of the sound is all new. that great news. but then the online play. One word LAG. playing online is like playing in a lag feast with bunch of player with shotgun( same as gears 1 NO difference). for example when ever i go up to a guy and shoot him not only with not died he would turn around and kill just like that. i then figure out that the host advantage still exist and only the player with the host can kill you faster and better. another thing is that when the boomshield glitch. it bad enough for a person to have 95% protection with a shield but then somehow player find out that you can replace a tiny pistol into a big shotgun. what the fuck! next thing you know people find out that you can jump extra high with the boomshield. nice job epic guys. and the sticking grenade is a nice feature until epic decide to make smoking grenade of DEATH i throw and you be down faster then your grandma. then your useless charcter model drops dead and it takes 5-6 second to get up. by the time you get up you either get shot in the fucking face or chainsaw behind your ass. and who's idea to add an extra rocket for the boom shot? you guys are dumbasses.but in the end it still a great game with great graphics. like cliffy b says " and remember take cover"

The title says it all. The day I put this in my 360, I instantly knew, after ten minutes of play, that it was, well, one of the best. Being one who doesn't play games like GTA, this really is a very high rating game for me. Seeing as I managed to put in all the pros and only one con, I think you can agree. The graphics and audio are simply amazing. You can tell the people aren't real, but they still look great. The guns sound and look absolutely perfect, and the blood is sick, in the good way.
Having never played Gears 1, I didn't know what to expect. I'm almost glad I didn't, because I had so many surprises when I played. The controls are easy to master, the executions are numerous, and one thing I enjoyed is the "achievement tracker", which tells you how close you are to getting an achievement. The battles are intense, and never too easy. (Except on the first level: training.)
The multiplayer is another strong point. While the matches can take awhile to load up, they are loads of fun, and filed with action. Teamwork is a key, and it's all a challenge. The maps are numerous and captivating, and, if you were lucky enough to have picked it up day 1, you get the "Flashback" map pack, maps from Gears 1. My favourite mode is Horde mode. Up to five players take on wave after wave of Locust, well, Hordes.
In conclusion, this game fully deserves five stars, despite it's getting repetitive over time, which isn't a large problem. Stop reading this review: go out to the store and buy this freaking game. NOW!

I think that this is one of the best games I've ever played. I thought that the story was great, although it did seem a little short, and the only con was that it takes too long waiting in the online lobby.

gears of war 2 is one of the best games out there but the story line kind of dissapoints me.i would give it a 4.5 but there is no 4.5. also one ofthe characters (im not going to say who) just dies not very far into the campaign with almost no explanation. also Dom is a little girl i expected better than that

A very good game with hands down the best graphics I have ever seen. Storyline is pretty lame but is countered by the visual wow factors throughout the game. They could of done without Dom being such a pansy little girl, got really annoying after awhile. Multiplayer is really fun with the added weapons and game types.

Overall a pretty solid game, I would give it 4.5 stars if I could because I don't think it quite reached 5 star status

This game is probobly one of the best killer apps or its time. Don't get me wrong MGS4, Halo3, and Mario fans, But this game's amazing control scheme, graphics, and audio make this my personal favorite. The stoy isn't all that great, but don't let that distract you from this truely amazing shooter.

Its nothing more than the first title with a few new weapons. The AI is a little better than the first, but most everything else is the same. If its not broke don't fix it? Well, I don't think that the original Gears of War needed fixing, but definitely some tuning. However, the second installment is, in my humble opinion, Gears of War 1.5. Nothing changed enough to truly call it a good sequel. If your a fan, shell out your cash to support your game. Otherwise, its a good renter.

Even though the story isn't all that great, the gameplay is great (again) both co-op and single player. So much damn fun. Blowing a locusts head off with a sniper rifle never felt so good. My biggest complaint about the game is the online multiplayer, not the local split screen that's still fun. The online takes for damn ever to find a match and get you into the match, by the time it finally finds me one I lost interest. I know not all online multiplayer can be like Call of Duty but it can be better than the match finding in Gears 2. When you actually do get into a match, yes it is fun, but not for that long. I'd rather just play split screen with some friends and put some bots on, at least you don't have to wait 15 mins to find a match. The story is kind of weak and the online is kind of disappointing, those are my only big complaints. I didn't put terrible multiplayer as a con because just the online is a let down the split screen is still fun. Great weapons (of course), incredible graphics (that rock worm looked amazing as it crawled by), wicked enemies, and just a plain badass game.

Oh...I almost forgot, how dare I.

Horde mode is Insane, I love it! Probably the best mode on the game aside from the campaign.

Gears of war was the reason i bought an xbox and when the second one came out i almost died. The story kinda needs a little bit more improving but sure is better than the first :P The best feature is the new weapons and new villains. It makes the game more exciting and less repetitive. The weapons are amazing specially the assault rifle and the Flamethrower!
