Ninja Gaiden II is of the chain good!

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Lousy camera/viewpoint
Intense action
Just plain fun

Its been a while since I have played a Ninja Gaiden game, but this one looked so good I had to get it. The action is face paced with a lot of action. The camera gets a little annoying, but I was so caught up in slashing bad guys it didnt really bother me that much. It is a somewhat difficult game, the boss fights had me cursing because I kept dying and had to start the fight over again. But, it also reminded me that playing a game thats to easy isnt as rewarding as playing a game that makes you really work hard at it is. Overall this is a great action game that everyone who enjoys action games should buy. Its very hard to stop playing and you'll wasnt more when you finish the game.

A damn tough game!

Pros Cons
Epic boss fights Poor storytelling
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Just plain fun

This could be an outstanding game. That is if you weren't fighting industructable warewolfs and everything else that beats up this Ninja like nothing! I think I've made it further then any of my friends, before I finally gave up. The fighting is great, if you can stay alive, the boss fights however can take up to hours even in the early part of the game to get by. If it was a litte less dificult, even on it's easy setting, this would be a lot more fun. Who ever can beat this, probably would not have hair left on their head after the exteme gameplay of this.

My Ninja Gaiden II Review

Intense action

Oh, the great sequel to one of the best games on the original Xbox. So much to live up to. I have been waiting for this game for who knows how long. I reserved and picked it up the day it came out. Drove home in excitement and popped it in. At first, I was as pleased as could be with the game. The game delivered everything I thought it would, plus more. You can't go wrong with blood and limbs being flung all over the place.

The gameplay is almost identical to the first, except for the new decapitation moves. Once an enemy has a limb missing, all you need to do is press Y and you finish them off with an awesome move. You receive a variety of different weapons as you progress through the game. You travel across the globe, finding yourself in Venice, Japan, America, and Russia, fighting ninjas, demons, crazed dogs, magicians, and crazy boss fights including three story tall armadillos and a gugantic metal worm.

I finished the first two difficulties, so natural I moved onto the harder ones. That's when the biggest problem emerged. The game's difficulty skyrockets to unbelievable levels. I consider myself a great game, and I can't think of any game I haven't beat that I commit to. But the harder difficults are very cheap. The enemies constantly span exploding shurikens, and grab you everytime you are near and self destruct. And believe me when I say this...this is all they do. Once your stuck one with one of these shurikens, you're done for. Most moves are unblockable, or they block stun you and kill you quick. It took one long month for me to beat Master Ninja Mode, the hardest difficulty. They could have made the enemies smarter and and use a variety of moves, but with the internal problems with Team Ninja before the game was released, you could tell the game was rushed with no quality control.

A lot of people complain about the camera in the game, but I really didn't have the same issues. You have complete control of the camera at all times. It can get frustrating in certain corridors and small rooms though.

This game would receive a perfect score with me if it wasn't for the wrong type of difficulty. I love challenges, but the harder modes felt more like a chore than a challenge.

Perfection written all over It!!!

Pros Cons
Epic boss fights Lousy camera/viewpoint
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Just plain fun

This game was friggin awsome, the graphics, the story line, and the controls. This was more violent than the first one, they have some good moves on there, with cutting heads and arms off, this game was just plain to fun even though there are some frustrating boss level that got me stuck for a day or two. This is definetly not a game for a little kid to play like my 9 yeard old brother who begs to play it.

The Dark Knight

Pros Cons
Engaging story Doesn't live up to expectations
Epic boss fights Lousy camera/viewpoint
Intense action
Tight controls

Now there is a reason why I put that up there. I didn't actually ever listen to the audio in this game. I used Ninja Gaiden to fill a void, and so, through the wonder of Custom soundtracks, and my imagination, I turned the game into The Dark Knight, the video game.

Now let me tell you, if you leave the soundtrack on, even through the cutscenes, it goes, perfectly. It compels you to move on, while at the same time, making you feel as if you were Batman, in his younger days. It's quite an interesting experience.

Now while I was playing this, I would have given in a 4... maybe.

But as it stands, Ninja Gaiden II is just another button masher. Not nearly as fun as the ridiculous Devil May Cry series, and also, a little too hard, difficulty wise. It's certainly not for beginners. I had very little trouble with it, but it was annoying.

All in all, it's not deserving of more than a little fun with the Dark Knight soundtrack.

Good Game with Some Flaws.

Pros Cons
Epic boss fights Not enough content
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
Addictive gameplay Lousy camera/viewpoint
Tight controls

I was a fan of the NES games, but haven't played NG or NG Black on Xbox. That said, I enjoyed NG 2 but it could have been better. The melee combat was fun, and I loved the array of (I think) 7 weapons that are all upgradeable. I think the first problem is the ranged combat, where you have to stand still and charge up your attack to deal a reasonable amount of damage, which obviously leaves you open to attack. The game also crosses the line between difficult and cheap very often, with enemies taking potshots at you because of camera limitations in the later levels. Also, is there really any need for swimming parts in a Ninja Gaiden game? All in all though, the game is difficult yet pretty fun, but it falls short of greatness due to some bad design decisions. I just wish the entire game was melee combat and, if the ranged attack is necessary to change up the pace, I wish it were more fluid and fun.

Ninja Action Engage!

Pros Cons
Epic boss fights Braindead computer AI
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Just plain fun

Alright, it almost enough words, this game rules. It's fun, nice and gory, and the weapons are awesome. Unfortunately, some of the move can get a little out of control, such as walking on walls. And some of the bosses are just too hard. Either way, this game is awesome!

But just one more thing, WHY WON'T THE ENEMIES DIE?????

Coulda Been a Contender

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Poor storytelling
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
Tight controls Lousy camera/viewpoint

There's nothing more satisfying than unleashing a combo that dismembers an opponent in Ninja Gaiden 2. However, the uneven difficulty, clumsy camera angles, and nonsensical narrative hamper the fun.
