Mario speedway!

Addictive gameplay Repetitive gameplay

Just plain fun

I bought this game for my girlfriend with out actually intending to pay much attention to it, but of course, she wanted me to play with her and I got hooked. This game is a colorful, fun racer filled with classic Mario characters such as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Bowser, Wario, Peach, ect. The main object of the game is racing and collecting power ups along the track to thwart your opponents. Unfortunately, the power ups make the the game horribly cheap. Everytime I was in the lead, I would get constantly bombarded by attacks from all over. Its as if its a bad thing to be in first place and Nintendo wants to punish you for being in the lead. Despite the cheapness, you'll still find a hella fun, addicting racer that is more than worthy of your Wii collection.. It even comes with a nice Wii wheel to make controlling your kart more fun and accurate. Don't miss out on another classic Mario Kart game!

Many may argue that with the growing amount of Wii versions of earlier games, Nintendo has become all about casual players. Now, Mario Kart Wii had come out with the implementation of a 'Wii wheel'. Many just shot this peripheral off as a, 'Oh, here we go again with the gimicky stuff.' And though they may be right, it doesn't stop Mario Kart for the Wii from being a fun Wii game. Now if you come to this game expecting to already be a pro due to prior Mario Kart experience, you'd be mildly disappointed. They've taken some things out of the game now to make it more accessible, and this fact may put off veteran Mario Karters. However, if you have the patience to look past that, you'll still be able to have a good amount of fun with this game. You don't have to use the Wii wheel, and I personally recommend against it when you first start out. The graphics aren't a technical marvel, but they get the job done. The courses have a vast amount of color, and there are a lot of tracks to ride through as well. Sound is typical Mario Kart fashion, with your regular 'Woo hoos', and 'Ha has' in the mix. The game brings the addition of bikes to the table, which open up new game play changes, and the online play is very good. You'll probably spend most of your time in multiplayer, or online matches, because the single player modes, and circuits can be short (and sometimes cheap). Speaking of cheapness, the game's item selection have been tweaked to cause more problems for players and make the game significantly less about skill, and more about picking up the right items, and just down right luck. These flaws can be annoying, especially if you've played a lot of the previous Mario Kart games, but it's still a fun ride none the less. So if you come to this game expecting hardcore Mario Kart, you may find this game disappointing, but every now and then, what game isn't?

I finally found this game at toys r us. When I opened it up, I was amazed with its gameplay! The Wii wheel is a great use of the wii-mote. The onile play is all I do now, but it is loaded with characters, old and new! You can't forget to buy this game if your a wii owner without it! It is so much better than N.F.S. If your sane, buy this game!!! if your insane, eh, i don't know what 2 say.

CHEAP!

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Repetitive gameplay
Tight controls
Just plain fun

lol I love this game, but damn is it cheap! Everytime I get in first place, an onslaught of attacks is unleashed on me to the point that I can't possibly win!

Graphics: Nothing to write home about, colorful Mario Nintendo visuals.

Sound: Average at best, once again, your classic Mario sounds.

Gameplay/Control: Great, I love the Wii Wheel. It makes racing all the more fun and easy. The game is about racing, which is fun, but like I said, this game is CHEAP!

Overall:If you love Mario Kart, get out there and buy it! Just expect to get frustrated alot when your in first place!

OH MOMMA MIA I'M A GONNA CRASH!!!

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Not enough content
Tight controls
Just plain fun

Mario Kart is like interactive crack, one taste and your addicted. The game is so goofy and over the top, I can't help but to love it. Using the power ups to make tools outta of your rivals is priceless, but beware... karma is a bitch. Your enemies constantly bombard you and winning is more a matter of chance than skill. The tracks however, are freakin' sweet and fun to play. It's good clean fun for all ages and must have for the Wii.

Mario Kart Wii Dissapointment

Pros Cons
Tight controls Doesn't live up to expectations

I was very excited for Mario Kart Wii to come out. Unfortunately, after I got it I was very dissapointed. It is almost exactly the same as all of the other ones. Besides the wheel, it is a very average game. It has barely any new levels, not very many new items, and just overall not very good. However, one pro of the game is the wii wheel is very cool. I thought they did a great job with it. It is also very accurate.

Let's go!!

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Terrible multiplayer
Just plain fun

Mario Kart Wii has to be by far the best Mario Kart in the series. The addition of the Wheel, plus the use of Mii characters(though not available from the get go) makes this one of the most entertaining games in the series. Though 3 and 4 player racing on the same system with those annoying quartered windows is still very agravating, i see Mario Kart Wii being played for years to come!

It's-a-Me! Mario Kart!

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Doesn't live up to expectations
Fantastic multiplayer Braindead computer AI
Just plain fun

In baseball terms (fitting, since Mario and crew were just impressed into duty in Mario Super Sluggers), Mario Kart is a fastball straight down the middle of the plate. Nintendo tweaks the Mario Kart formula only slightly with each iteration (Double Dash could be considered a major tweaking, and look how that turned out:( ) and doesn't throw too many curveballs in Mario Kart Wii either. The track list this time around is a mix of some fairly colorful and varied new courses and some old favorites, though to be honest the latter group seems to have been picked at random-how about a Rainbow Road remix cup?...just a thought. Instead of eight karts per race, now there are twelve. More is better, right? Um, not so fast. One of the hallmarks of Mario Kart, and to be quite honest, one of the areas where the game consistently fails, is in its CHEAP AI. The reward for first place is a banana peel, or a ghost item that seems only capable of stealing banana peels; meanwhile, places seven through twelve rain unholy terror upon you in the form of red shells, 1st-place seeking blue shells, and lightning bolts, meaning that your place at the finish line is more a result of lying low until the right moment or blind luck, or both. So, twelve racers means more cheap AI...but all is not bad in this game; in fact, Mario Kart is still the premiere racing franchise in all of videogamedom, and for good reason. The controls are spot-on, as always, and the selection of classic Nintendo racers and multiple karts (bikes, too, this time around) is excellent. You will, as always with this series, have a blast, despite some of the aforementioned shortcomings. One final note to Nintendo: The online is awesome, but why did you make battle a team-only affair? I happen to consider battle THE definitive Mario Kart experience, and whiled away countless enjoyable hours of my life playing Mario Kart 64's battle mode, the best, by far, to date. So, in summary, if you love Mario Kart, buy this one with no hesitation...just don't expect bigger to be better.
