My Burnout Paradise Review

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Annoying audio
Innovative concepts Repetitive gameplay
Amazing visuals
Intense action

Being a huge fan of the Burnout series, I was super excited about this game, but for some reason, didn't buy it until it dropped in price. I heard mixed reactions on this game, but I'm always one to make my own decisions. This Burnout is very different than the other titles in this series.

First off, the game is set in an open world. No more menus to choose your races, you are able to start an event at any intersection in the game. It's a great way to familiarize yourself with the map and know the ins and outs of each shortcut. And a lot of shortcuts there are. You will find yourself looking for every single shortcut, smashes, billboards, and super jumps in this game (Or maybe just me, because I'm an achievement whore). The graphics are amazing in detail, and the controls are very smooth. This doesn't mean that I have a few gripes about this game though.

There is no retry option if you fail a race, so if that race took you to the other side of the map, you now have to drive all the way back to do it again. It's not too bad until you are almost finished with the game; thats when it starts to become a pain. They replaced the Crash Events from previous games to a new mode called Showtime. On any street you can activate this mode to start bouncing up and down the street, crashing into cars until your boost meter runs out. Personally, while this mode is fun, it doesn't compare to the old Crash Events found in the other Burnout's. And then there is DJ Atomica, the voice in the game that randomly tells you how you are doing. It's a feature I wish that could be turned off, cause he starts to get really annoying.

Overall, this is a great game to pick up, and at $30 brand new, I believe it's a must buy. But there will be some fans of the series that will be turned off by the drastic change in this series. Maybe a demo or rent is in line first if you are not sure.

Burnout paradise

I don't play racing games that often but this is a exception. I have never played a racing game like burnout before. It has fantastic graphics, sound, and controls. They made it so it's just one huge map that you can do just what ever you want.

Like GTA, but.....

The game is like GTA in the fact that it is a sandbox/ open world game, but it does only evolve cars and no one else, except that annoying DJ. Its fun if you like any other burnout games and if you enjoy car games in general, but don't expect to see you favorite car, because all the cars have fake names, so if you know the build and design of the car you can choose your favorite.

Burnout paradise city single player review

This game as you may know, rules, the graphics are awesome, the sounds are great, the controls are great too. This game's crashes are amazing, the cars crash as realistically as they can make it and it works, cars jump, roll bash in to walls, crush like cans, The races are great but thanks to the new open map setting one wrong turn will screw you over, so it's a lot harder to win now, but still fun, from the marked man where you get to one point without totally destroying your car( there are black cars that will make it their mission to take you down) to the awesome road rage, to normal races. The dissapointing part of the game is that they replaced the legendary crash mode with showdown mode, while it fun, it isn't as fun as crash mode was. This game is on the long side took me 5 to 6 days to get the A license, now all i have to do is win every event to get the elite license, but the credits rolled so i feel like i finished it anyways. A must have ESPECIALLY if your gonna play online. Review: graphics: great crashes and car models and damage. Sound: the cars sound great and the crashing sounds even better, BUUUUT the soundtrack's really sucks, i had to put my own soundtrack using the my controller's guide button. Controls: comfortable and they do their job, never felt out of place or uncomfortable playing the game. Fun factor: a fun game to play, especially online or with a friend.

Best Racer On The 360 yet!

Well, I, having never owned a Burnout game before, did not know what to expect. But, after spending some time with it, this game is masterfully crafted. The seamless, menu-free, gameplay is a load of fun. The races are interesting as (unlike other racering games) they are not on a set course. You can weave and drift through the city as much as you want, aslong as you end up at the finish line. And when you're not burning rubber, you can at anytime press both the bumbers, sending your car into a rolling, bouncing weapon of mass destruction. Great timing and set up makes that aspect tremendously fun. Seeing a traffic jam at n intersection, then rolling through and destroying everything, is a simple yet great pastime. In need of a racing game? This is a must-have.

:(

No Crashparty, no splitscreen, you get easily lost in races just by trying a shortcut. :( Want to take it back.

Paradise: A name Burnout 5 lives up too!

The $60 price tag is not one to run away from on this game. Paradise is well worth every penny! From White Mountain to Motor City, every street has its own unique way of providing the upmost fun possible. Crash with 75 completely different cars which have more differences then just speed. Burnout Paradise has 3 different car types, Speed, Aggression, and Stunt. The Speed type cars are best for races and travel at very high speeds weather boosting or not, the Speed cars boost can only be activated once the boost bar is full, however, the speed cars are the only one that allow the occurrence of a "Burnout," in order for a burnout to happen, you must use all of your boost in one go, then your boost will refill and you can do it again and chain them together. Aggression cars are best used for crashing and takedowns, they are the strongest and heaviest, usually they do not go quite as fast as speed class and wont go over jumps too well, the boost on this type of car fills quickly as you crash into other cars and if you crash enough can get things like "Boost x2" which doubles your boost time. Stunt cars are my favorite, they are obviously the best for doing 180's 360's and going off of jumps, the boost on this type of car will fill quickly as you do stunts. Paradise city is amazing, and dont be put off because it is only 1 city, it incorporates many of the areas from Burnout Revenge into 1 big city, this includes White Mountain, Motor City, and I believe Eastern Bay, as well as plenty of other areas that have just as much and more to offer than any of the previous Burnout games. At 60 frames per second all the way through the game with breathtaking HD Graphics, the game is enhanced even more by the way it looks, the frame rate never glitches and the crashes you get into look as sharp as a razor. Each and every sound effect is recorded directly from cars and mechanical happenings, so you wont be hearing any Puma calls like in Burnout 4. The city itself is over 30 Square Kilometers, with 400 shortcuts spread out all over the city; every intersection has a new event totaling up to 120 different events, just pull up to any stoplight and spin your wheels. In each event you will find No flashing yellow barriers blocking any roads, just drive and get to the finish line in any way you want! The crash mode, now called "Showtime" is available after 4 events have been won, just squeeze both LB and RB (or L1 and R1 if you have a PS3) and start rolling your car over any car you see, though the crash mode is reminiscent of Beautiful Katamari, it will grow on you. The lack of offline Multiplayer is disappointing but if you do have Online play enabled just press the D-pad a few times and jump right online! Overall Burnout Paradise is a great game worthy of a 5.0 rating or a 10/10 rating; dont wait to find a used copy for cheap, pay the $60 this game is worth! ~Barondando
