This is an awesome game. It might not be as "Mature" as titles lie GTA IV, Oblivion, or Fable II, but it has a great story and tons of unlockables. Not to mention the graphics, which rival that of MGS4 and Crysis. Also, a game doesn't have to be rated Mature to be fun.

You are not new to the Ratchet and Clank franchise. There is no need to tell you what you already now about the game, so instead of mumbling about how good the game looks, how fun it is to blast stuff, and how funny it is to jsut watch the cinematics (well, some of them), lets get to the impotent stuff: The new stuff, the bad stuff, and the good stuff.

The New stuff:
Well, the next gen leap is big, the visuals took a big step foreword with better textures, sharp colors and HD overall visuals, while still maintaining the same as for previews R&C games. Aside from the new visuals, there is the Sixaxis motion control, which ill tallk about in the "Bad Stuff" section. This is not really new, but its worth mention the TOD is not as linear as the past few late games (after Up Your Arsenal), the game even have many areas which you can freely explore, including two very large planets which you can explore even further with great open world feel. There are, as expect, new weapons, new devices (which is a new catgory actually), new gadgets, and an interesting new take of humor (more "game-based" humor, about HD, and "Next Gen Weaponry").

The Good stuff:
The arena, the humor, and explosions, the secrets, and mostly, the less liner experience. There is nothing special in the new stuff added to the game, but they all come together along with improvements for older elements from older games, and it makes everything even better.

The Bad stuff:
Sixaxis. Thankfully, you can turn it off for the mini games, but some weapons have yo use them (the Tornado, and it works really bad). And there are also the minigames. Some may like it, and some not. Personally, I found most of them boring and un-needed, but some, where nice (maybe only playing as Clank).

Overall, its a long game, with a lot of stuff to do in it and fun to have while your at it with nice humor and great visuals. The story is not very special, but this time, its more then just a bad guy, and even have an epic sense to it after the cliff hanger which makes you wonder how they achived the sense of drama under all that humor (which is not really THAT good most of the time).

Bootom line?
Go get it.

Ratchet and Clank PS3

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Addictive gameplay
Just plain fun

Ratchet & Clank finally makes their debut in the PS3 with Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and it suceeds everyone's expectations. First thing that you about the game is the amazing graphics that look as a good a Pixar movie. Next is the amazing gameplay that sticks to the classic Ratchet & Clank formula. There are some slight changes like the wretch feeling so much stronger and an improved firing system that a while to get used to but later it just feels awesome. Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction is one of the best games that I have played in the year of 2007. I highly recommend buying this game.

I can't get enough of this game! This is easily the greatest Ratchet game up to date! I know I'm going to grab the next one the moment it hits the shelves. The game is highly addictive and the weapons are a blast to collect and upgrade. My PS3 unfortunately died on me and I returned it, so i don't have any of my saved files now. I hear this is rare for the PS3, so I plan to buy a new one at some point in time. If you haven't played this game, go out and get it now! ...or a least rent it.

Another great PS3 game from Insomniac

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Not enough content
Intense action
Just plain fun

Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank series dominated the PS2, and they're back to take on the PS3 with Tools of Destruction. One of the prettiest games on the PS3, Tools of Destruction shows off what the PS3 can do: amazing graphics, 60-frames per second for fluid gameplay, and simple, addictive action. This is the best Ratchet & Clank game you're going to find, for the moment.

Back to Ratchet and Clank roots

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Engaging story
Just plain fun

I had a blast playing the new R&C on the PS3. And being that I was never really a fan of Ratchet multiplayer, I was glad Insomniac forwent the MP in favor of a huge single-player game. Great fun all the way through -- one of the PS3's best.

Best Ratchet yet

I love this Ratchet more than anything. The weapons and gadgets are awesome, and fun to use. The upgrade system gets you to keep using guns, and in the end, your guns should be total pwnage. The bosses are easy, and so is everything else because your weapons just pwn everyone. Challenge mode gives you more bolts, but its a little bit harder. Yet, this game is aesome. The sixaxis is probably used the best in this game, and the plot is funny and good. If you have a PS3, get this. Shooters like Haze, MSG4, CoD4, and the looming Bioshock are good to a point. This game makes that point even better. One of the best 3rd person shooters I have ever played.

Dissapointing

Well this game is a huge dissapointment in my opinion. First, I'll say what it does right. The graphics have been improved and the game looks great, also the new weapon upgrade system is better the the older ones, and the game makes good use of the SIXAXIS. But that's about it. The game brings nothing new to the table, the gameplay is great but this is the 6th R&C game and they should have made at least some minor changes to keep the series interesting. Also, the AI is pathetic for a PS3 game. The older R&C were much more challenging, they required some actual strategy and quick thinking. This game is so easy that many times I could take down mobs of enemies with only the wretch and barely lose any health. The story is more involved this time around, however, the cinematic style in which the story is told doesn't really fit well on the R&C series. Even the game's sense of humor seems to have weakened. The game does have some good weapon variety but nothing that hasn't been done before (well except maybe the Groovitron and the tornado weapon).Every once in a while there is some space combat but that is also pretty easy and repetitive. The actual combat works well, and so do the controls....but it's just so overdone and easy. But maybe the worst thing about this game is the lack of online play. "Up Your Arsenal" on the ps2 had online play, even the PSP version had it. So why does the PS3 version not have it?...Not even offline multiplayer! As a hardcore R&C fan I feel very dissapointed by this game, it's worth a rental but not worth buying.

Blast to play

Tools of Destruction is a fun game to play. How can you not like blowing up robots, upgrading weapons and comedy in cutscenes. Getting all the Golden Bolts add replayability and the weapons are varied and cool to use. Very easy to pick up and play.
