If you had to buy one PSP game, this is the one I'd recommend. A simple jewel-matching game, the RPG elements (items, skills, spells) add an amazing amount of depth. It's easy to get sucked into four-hour marathon play sessions -- don't forget to blink!

Many people probably haven't heard of this game. It's the most addicting puzzle game I've ever played. It's a cross between a puzzle game and an RPG, the battles are the puzzles. So you're wondering how the battles work are you? Well there's different colored gems on the screen and you have match three of them in a row. When you match them you gain that number of gems. The colors are your mana. There's red, yellow, green, and blue. Different spells need different colors and combinations of colors. You can also match gold three in a row to gain gold. You can match 3 purple stars in a row to gain EXP. Now in order to attack your opponent you have to match 3 skulls in a row or you can use your spells to attack. You can also match 4 or 5 gems, gold, exp, skulls in a row and when you do you are granted another turn. There are four different classes. I told you that it's an RPG, right? Well there's a Druid, a Warrior, a Wizard, and a Knight. My personal favorite is the Wizard. Thats the one I beat the game with. I'm currently working on beating it with a Knight. Story. You're a young knight/whatever class in the service of the Queen of Bartonia. You will follow this character on his journey to uncover the mystery of all the supernatural things happening in Bartonia and the neighboring kingdoms. Along the way you will gather up followers to assist you, in addition to building up your own citadel that will allow you to unite the land, as well as providing you with numerous benefits to fight the armies of darkness. You can also capture cities and when you do you get money from them. In the game, you are a small character on a map and you go through cities and do quests. On the road ways are sometimes enemies which you will have to defeat to move on. The game has about 50 different enemies I believe. The graphics are great for the PSP. The puzzle looks great and the map looks cool. The characters are 2d on the map, well everything is. You also level up in this game and when you do you can choose to level up different abilities. You can increase your fire, water, air, and earth mastery, cunning, morale, and battle. You don't always have to play the story to play the game. From the menu you can just choose to fight monsters and level up so that you can make it easier to go into the story and beat opponents. Overall, Puzzle Quest is a very addictive game that will last for hours and hours.
