Simply put, you can't find a better value in all of gaming. For the amount of games you get, your money is more than well spent.
I bought this solely for Portal. It is extremely fun and addicting and worth the price alone. Half-Life 2 and its episodes are great games and also worth it. Don't let the graphics fool you. Though its an old game, Half Life 2 is one of the most innovative, influential and original games ever made.
Great

I picked up the Orange Box new for 30 bucks at Wal-Mart, just to try it out. Half-Life and Portal were awesome! I wasn't a fan of Team Fortress 2, but Half-Life 2, the 2 episodes, and Portal definitely made up for it. I think that Half-Life 2 played better on the Xbox than it did on my PC. The controls just felt more comfortable.
Simply Amazing

It amazes me how Half-Life 2 is old yet it's manages to be more innovative than some of today's games. Just that game would be enough excuse for buying it, but to add to the sweetness of it you get 4 other awesome games. The story in the Half-Life games is very good and I actually found myself caring for the characters. The next game, Portal, is the most simple and at the same time addictive of the lot (and also the main reason I bought TOB). Next up it's TF2 which is fun, but too damn hard to find anyone playing it online to really consider multiplayer relevant.
The controls and audio are solid, however, the visuals may be arguable. Playing in an outdoor environment is mind-blowing mainly because you spend most of the time inside some murky building. Still that isn't as big an issue for me as it is for other gamers. Overall this is one of the best purchases I've made and definitely worth the money.

Did anyone else think that this game compared graphically to Goldeneye? The first person view was horrible! It's great to have that many games on one disc, but it's better if the games can keep someone entertained for longer then 30 minutes! I do not understand any of the hype, this is just collecting dust!
The most bang for your buck!

The Orange Box is an incredible value for your gaming dollar. Not only does it include the classic Half Life 2, which is worth the price of admission alone. If you have not experienced Half Life 2, now is the best time. For a nearly 4 year old game it stands the test of time remarkably well. The graphics, audio, and storytelling come together to make a very compelling experience. But Valve didn't feel this was enough value so they added both of the new episodes which continue the story, Team Fortress 2 (for the multiplayer buffs), and Portal (a game that must be experienced). I could go on and on about the value of this package, but the games really speak for themselves. Essentially you can say that The Orange Box is a compilation of 5 games for the price of one.

I have to start by saying that there is no glaring flaw with this game, it just is made by PC developers and is best played on a PC. You can buy this game for a bargain considering its 5 games in one. Keep in mind load times are very long.
Half-Life: The Half-Life games tend to be hit or miss. I expected it to be way different than it really is. 2 of the H-L games are straight ports, so don't expect flashy graphics. They are great games though.
Portal: Great. Enough said. Buy Portal somehow, download it, I don't care how, just get it (if not just because the end credits are amazing).
Team Fortress 2: Good class-based shooter. The graphics are nice and so are the weapons. Health doesn't regenerate and good-luck finding a medic. It lacks some variety, too, and for although this may be a good thing, there is no standard machine gunner. You can play as a big buff chaingun user (awesome) and a lot of classes carry a weak SMG, but there is no "standard" class, which is worse than it sounds. There are much fewer updates on 360 than PC. Overall, this game rounds out the package, but is not the next Halo.

While the graphics are not the best they have TF2 looks like a Pixar cartoon; and maybe one can say the games lack substance on their own -- Portal is only 4hrs, TF2 lacks online abilities -- but as a package it is a steal and even with the shortcomings TF2 is a blast to play online: after all if you don't work as a team you're dead
Where is Portal 2???

The orange box is loaded with great games! Portal quickly became my favorite and I will never get tired of hearing a twisted angry manipulative computer sing death threats to me. Believe me, Portal 2 is going to be big!

Valve's compilation The Orange Box is a schizophrenic's delight: it offers a new chapter in the Half-Life 2 saga, a wonderful multiplayer game in Team Fortress 2, and the spatial puzzler Portal, which went on to be a critical darling and a minor hit in its own right. As a package, it's a bit of a mess. Taken individually, each of the games has lots to offer. I still think it would've made more sense to offer each of these as download games -- I feel like the bundle concept just doesn't work well for this selection. Still, one of the best values in 2007 and a compilation with a lot to offer. Too bad it's hard to play on a console controller!
