At least in the top 5 of best games for PS3 to date

Pros Cons

Engaging story
Loads of content
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Innovative concepts
Fantastic multiplayer

I have played this for a week straight have found it to be one of the best games I have ever played. I do like RPGs, FPS and sports games. it isn't that it is a kiddie game (not that I blame people for thinking that)....but it is very difficult to make a good working level. I worked for many hours trying to perfect it and just when I think it is good my daughter comes along and "beta tests" it so to speak and points out the physics being wrong. so yes it is a next gen platformer and yes the graphics are amazing (every material looks like it should be)....I do think it will be "game of the year"......as for Gears of War2 I didn't like the first one because it was way to small...so why would this one be any better?

so to each his/her own I reccomend this to anyone that has liked the following: ratchet and clank, mario, crash bandicoot....even tomb raider (for it's puzzles). it also is great for more than one person and you can only complete every level fully if you have at least 2 people (4 people are required near the end

A GOOD GAME

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Unresponsive controls
Addictive gameplay
Fantastic multiplayer
Just plain fun

when i first heard about this game i had an i idea that it was another game with a lot of hype, a game that when finally in the hands of the customer a game not worth buying. i read reviews from magazines and video game websites, and also from people who played the demo. well i fell for it, bought the game, and well i love it, a fun game, has that super Mario, metal slug, metriode feel to it, i played with myself and well interested as one goes through the mini adventures, and well it also is fun when its two players playing too, two people trying to figure the way out and finding all the awards. fun game, a game that me and my girlfriend could play without her nagging that she wants to go out.

Aside from MGS4, maybe the best PS3 game!!

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Unresponsive controls
Awesome audio
Engaging story
Loads of content
Addictive gameplay
Innovative concepts
Just plain fun

I don't traditionally play these cartoony platform games, but I took a chance on this game and I'm very happy with my choice. Basically LBP is a an old school 2D platformer like Mario or Sonic with a modern twist.

The visuals and audio are top notch, and the gameplay is just plain enjoyable. The single player story mode isn't the longest, but the ability to create your own levels and characters is where the value of this game lies.

The real only gripe I have with game are the unresponsive controls, but this is minor issue that only plagues certain parts of the game. One of the most imaginative and original games ever and a great reason to get a PS3!!

Few gripes, yet still the best

Amazing visuals Unresponsive controls

Loads of content

This has been in reserve for 2 years, and people eargerly awaited it. And guess what? It deserved all the hype. This game is nothing I have ever seen before going where the Lego games have, letting adults play kiddie games. That is not to say this is a kiddie game. It feels like Mario, blended with physics from Gears, and artistic direction of comic books. It's an awesome platformer. It's addicting, and the multiplayer is the cherry on top. Not only that, but the Loads of levels from users makes the game playable for years to come. The physics can get annoying, but it always seems real. Everything has its own weight, and everything moves a different way. The artistic design of it is beautiful, the visuals are a pleasure to the eye and the audio sounds kiddie (It comes from the impossible test 2), it is actually very pleasing. The creating of levels, pods, characters, even other levels make Little big planet feel like a game developed by you more than Media Molecule. These are some gripes, like how the controls are hard for jumping and the 3D aspect, and the camera is a little off, but that should not stop you from buying this game. This game, not even a game, but a canvas for you to draw on, sits with games like Gears, Resistance and Fallout as the best games of the year. The only people who don't get this game are people who don't own a PS3, or who are afraid of its kiddiness. And should that stop you from buying this amazing game? Not at all.

When I recieved the beta for Little Big Planet I wasn't going to think to much of the game because after all the screenshots and video's of gameplay,I thought it looked like a child's game. But after playing part of the story and some online levels,I completely changed my opinion on the game.It is addictive, It has loads of extra content, and the game is basically a customized world of fun. When it comes out I will be the first one to get it.

Best Game So Far?

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Unresponsive controls
Awesome audio
Addictive gameplay
Innovative concepts
Just plain fun

Who would've thought that a walking, expression filled pile of cotton held together by a sack and a single zipper could ever be this much fun? From the onset of Little Big Planet, the game entrances your senses with a combination of clever level design and cutesy character emotes.

After sitting down and popping the disc in, I was pretty sure that the game was somewhat overblown, maybe only deserving a 7/10 instead of the 9/10 or 10/10 that the game has received. A single light illuminates the middle of the screen, showing the infamous 'Sackboy' in the middle. A narrator begins to weave the tale of Little Big Planet, Sackboy, and about how mischevious the Sackboy can be. I pressed start, instantly thinking "What a lame intro video, who cares about the story". Pressing start brought up a pause menu. Puzzled, I hit start again, which exited the pause menu. I moved the left stick to the left, and the character moved. The game had thrust me into the opening level without me ever noticing. What followed was an interesting introduction level that blew my mind, and the game continued to get better from there.

As soon as I began to think that I had seen everything, Media Molecule threw a curveball at me and showed me something new. The level design has infinite possibilities. If you ever wanted a beginner's course in level design, this game has it.

Although the single player in this game is great, its the level design aspect that is the focal point. Viewed as a blank canvas, this game is (as your teachers have said) "only as good as the amount of time you put into it". Although the amount of detail in the tutorials gave me a pounding headache, It wasn't too much to take in and the tools are surprisingly easy to grasp.

The only complaint, as has been stated numerous times before, is the controls. A little quirky at first, the three planes of movement in the game serve to add a slight three-dimensional aspect to the game. I've found myself having quite a bit of fun, then the character decides to jump into the foreground right onto some spikes, or into an endless hole, leading to his demise, and consequent rebirth from the checkpoint.

Aside from the above, I can't recomment this game enough. First time I tried it I showed my friend that you can actually hit the other player and knock them down. Being the evil person he is, he decides to slap my sackboy, causing him to go whizzing off the left side of the screen, falling off the skateboard.

Little Big Planet is a game that uses the PS3 for its graphics, and achieves a greater cause of showing players that, even when given a blank canvas games can be made great.

Little Big Planet - Real Talk

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Loads of content
Addictive gameplay

LBP,

Hmmm, what to say about it. How about AAA? Well first, the graphics are astounding. The gameplay is addictive, and the creation tools are... well unbelievable.

Graphics: Phenomenal. Cutesy little sack dudes and dudettes make the game completely gender neutral. It is the equivalent of running a children's show with a controller. Actually the graphics are better than most cartoons and shows on Noggin, etc.

Gameplay:Your movement (and creation) relies on smart fluid multiplane shifting. This allows for lots of exploration and hiding of bonus items. It makes the game non-linear and unscripted. You can implement a minimum of two ways to accomplish any task in the game.

Creation: There actually appears to be 5 planes that can be taken advantage of, but it will take some creativeness to utilize them all. Many people will only recognize 3 of the 5. This makes decoration of stages complete eye-candy as you layer item on top of item and create depth in your scenes. There are ways to force attachment between items on separate planes, but it can depend on the thickness between the two items. There are rules and laws to attachment and creating items. Here is a top notch hint from me to all of you: Dark Matter is your BEST friend in creating a level. If it needs to hang in mid-air, instead of attaching a kazillion things together, make you item out of Dark Matter and paint the hell out of it. Cons of Dark matter, it will not fly no matter what, so don't use it for vehicles, etc. But use it as a rail to hang your gliders on. But the creation tools are GREAT, I was able to create a talking villainous XBOX 360 complete with mini RROD minions. All programmed to rush and attack you if get close. The tools are not necessarily N00bified, and can take a wrangling to get accustomed to. But the payoff is huge if you are into creating playing levels to share online.

Overall: Complete awe inspiring fresh new game with It is cutesy but no one will be embarrassed to play it in front of others due to the highest of cool factors. This is one of the few games I have bothered to review. It is a GOY contender and deserves a special innovation award. This game can be played with your homeboys, or your sons and daughters.

Cons: There are some quirks with the creation controls that will frustrate some. For instance, the attachment function can feel like a bowling ball in your rectum if you accidentally attach your 8 piece vehicle to a rail you've created, and it refuses to detach cleanly. It is very important to store items you create as new objects. This way, if you MUST delete an erroneously attached item altogether, you have a backup in your created objects. None of the predefined cons actually matched up to this game, but i felt it necessary to point out the attachment issues in the beta.

Note: Also, KEEP AT LEAST ONE BACKUP OF YOUR CREATED LEVELS!!! The LBP servers wiped out my 1st LEVEL creation for the GP contest to nothing but a finish gate and corrupted my original save!!! My level published improperly and all my game content was basically LOST! After I received 2 bad level reviews, I saw that my entire game was nothing... people would start to play only to appear at the finish line!!! I am SOOO glad I kept backups or I wouldn't have been able to enter the contest. Trust No Online SERVER keep a backup like I did!

My most aticipated game of the Summer!!!

This game is the reason I'm buying a PS3 (MGS4 also). this game look amazing, fun and overall time consuming. I can not think of any game close to LittleBigPlanet. Some are saying that with LBP's stage creation that it could become the youtube of gaming, half true, it would be fun the first year or so but unless sony keep dishing out games with stage creation it will die fast. Over all sony is taking a huge chance with this game, but to me look like it might pay off. This is another big game that PS3 is dropping this year that will put the playstation 3 on the market to stay.
