transformers-giant clunky robots

Saw the movie, and had higher hopes for the game. I wish this disk would have transformed into another game. Warning: it looks way better than it plays. After seeing video of this game, I was fooled into pre-ordering it. Repetitious, uninspired, and add crap controls and you have one big mess. Robots in disguise of a good game. They unmask as soon as you pick up the controller.

See the movie instead

First the good stuff. the graphics arent bad and combat is interesting. Now the bad stuff. Being in car mode is to hard to control, also, in car mode the game turns into a cheap clone of twisted metal, Machine guns and rockets on a car in a transformers game? that didnt happen in the movie. while im on the topic of guns and rockets they are useless in this game only way to kill someone is with your iron fist.

half-assed

I'm gettin gsick and tired of these half-assed games based on stupid movies. We've had enough of them jesus chris. Why don't these game companies make original ideas instead of this shit. It's really getting on my nerves.

Transformers could be so much better

Not so exciting robot street fighting thats kinda like old Rampage. Of course leave it to Activision to screw it up.

Transformers: The Game

The second-biggest sucker in the universe is a character in the shabby, movie-based action smasher, Transformers: The Game - it's the main character's dad. The transformer Bumblebee has been ordered to protect an Earth boy named Sam - because they want his grandfather's eyeglasses (honest, we're not making this up) - on the very day that Sam's dad has promised to buy him a car. So, Bumblebee sneaks into the used car lot and somehow brainwashes the kid and dad into deciding he's the best car there, so the dad buys him. Let's consider that for a moment: he bought a "car" that would have had no title, no registration, no plates, no keys, and that the dealer was probably totally shocked to see parked in his fenced-in car lot. Only Hollywood could create such a chump. Yet, the bigger sucker still turns out to be you, the player, because Transformers: The Game is a frustrating mess. It seems like a no-lose proposition: we have two entire storylines (one for the noble Autobots, a second (and better) one for the evil Decepticons). We have several gorgeously modeled space robots, and we have serious firepower to blow holes in mostly smashable environments and turn other robots into scrap. But it all goes wrong. It's arguably forgivable that every mission is some variation on the formula, "get from point A to point B and blow up X in Y number of seconds" - but when both driving and combat are broken, it's time to transform this into some other game.

Take the Decepticons by the nuts and bolts!

If you talk with anyone these days, the biggest movie of the summer is Transformers. Who doesn't love big robots? And for those desiring a little more than meets the eye, Transformers the Game is a great. But like I said, there's more than meets the eye. The transformations in this game are glorious, having the Transformers retain their unexpected agility and flexability as they change from vehicle to robot. There are few things as cool as making Optimus Prime transform from truck to robot, flipping gracefully in the process. One side note, in the loading screens where the controls are labeled, instead of "transform" the Y button is Labeled "convert". Why? After "converting" about 20 times (and being told where to go for your next mission 20 times too--annoying), you'll want to start accomplishing things. This is where the game begins to falter. Redundancies really take away from this visually awesome title. You have to blow things up sometimes, you get in trouble for it if you're an autobot. You can drive right through a wall, but you get stuck on a planter. Fighting other transformers is a cinch, and while you fight humans constantly shoot you in the back. It's easy to tell that Activision has churned this one out rather hastily. While fun to watch, the game becomes monotonous soon into the mission tree. If you can rent it for free, it's worth it!
