To start with the review, let me say that so far the best game i have played for a Nintendo Wii is this one. After playing and finishing at 100% the PC version, i didn't have much expectations on this game, but after i played it i finally knew that if you want to play The Godfather, this is the version to play. First of all, the story has not changed at all since the game is based on the movie, which is not a bad thing. It all start when your father gets killed by a powerful mobster and you see his dead corpse; the character obviously gets anger by what he has seen, and wants to take revenge and so on...After this introduction, you get to customize your character from head to toes.Customization options are very varied, you get to choose your hair style, facial hair, skin color, type of clothes and more. As for gameplay, you use the Nunchuk to move your character around and change between weapons, and the Wiimote to aim. There are some additions to the Wii version that PC owners would like to have, such as new cars, new locations, an option to hire your own hit squad and more. The compounds, stores and other scenarios that you must take, have received an update and are know a bit more different between them than they were on the PC version, although the city remains the same. Also the game has received a new welcome RPG character developement system, which truly helps you through out the game. The only dissapointing thing about this game is it graphics, which exactly don't scream next-gen and maybe are a bit short for today standars. If you're looking for a great Godfather experience, take this game as so far, is the best version you can play.
Almost as good as the movie. Almost.

I came across this game with very small expectations, but I thought I might as well give it a try since I loved the movie. This game went up and beyond what I was expecting. Godfather fans will probably come into this game thinking that they will control Micheal Corleone, but instead you play as an outsider who by aiding the family, moves up in ranks and eventually becomes part of the family. Your job is to help the Corleones destroy every rival families, take over every business, control every warehouse, and claim New York as your own. This game may be an open world game, yet it has some RPG elements which are really welcome in a game like this. The graphics get the job done, but don't expect anything past 'decent'. Aside from the the great voice acting, there's nothing noteworthy about the audio. As with every Wii game, the controls make or break the experience and, thankfully, they really make the experience better. The motion sensing controls make a otherwise average game an great one as it feels just plain fun to use gestures instead of pressing buttons. Expect a lengthy game as I completed with 100% completion in 50 hours. Forget about the bad reputation of most movie based games, since this is really a step forward in licensed games. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

This is the first game on the wii that actually stopped me from playing my 360. The controls are pretty good aiming when you are shooting can be a bit rough but nothing you cannot learn to adapt to. Using the wiimote and nunchuk to choke people out is a blast. The main story is fairly good length and there are a lot of side missions including taking over businesses doing favors for business owners so they will pay money each week to you. And of course there are hit contracts which nets you more respect and money if you kill people in a certain way. Graphics are ok nothing special but not awful. The game is plain and simple fun to play.
An offer I couldn't refuse

I traded my God awful Wario Ware game for the Godfather: Black Hand Edition. This was an offer I couldn't refuse. I've played the game now for almost 13 hours. I didn't play it on any other platform but I loved the movie so I thought it would be good. It is a very fun game and easy to get into the story especially if you're familiar with it. It follows key scenes from the movie and you get to help make them happen. The graphics are pretty nice and the controls are even better. With the motion sensing capabilities you can punch or even choke someone to death. The open sandbox approach is similar to GTA. I have played all the GTA games and would say that they just didn't have the same feeling as this one. I couldn't relate to the storyline and thus never finished the games. I found them to be fun though and ocasionally still play them to run around the city and have a little mayhem. I would say that this is a very strong title for the Wii right now. I'm just waiting for some more fun games though.
And they say all games based on movies blow.

This is one of the best games based on a movie I have ever played. Sure there's not alot of good ones but still its a good game. The game isn't perfect though; theres a lack of variety in mission types and the driving segments are too long but aside from that, the rest is excellent. If you have a version of The Godfather already there is no reason to buy this again, but if you are like me, wanting something other than kiddie and party games to play on the Wii, this is a great choice.
the best sandboxer ever!

dude this game kicks the shit out of GTA and yes i just said that. it takes place in the 40's so its kool you can do so much more than in gta like: rob banks, help people, bomb buildings, and assassinate to name a few. plus the MOBFACE featurew is cool customize your mobster from head to toe! it's great!
An offa you can't refuse...

The PS2 and Xbox 360 have both had their cracks at The Godfather franchise, and so far, those two versions have proved playable, if not a blast. Now the Wii has its chance. The game is, at its heart, similar to the first two ports. You take control of a character offered a position under Don Corleone (you actually get to customize him - hair style and clothing, mostly, but still a nice touch), and from there on out, the city is your playground. There are missions to undertake, some of which supposedly took place while the cameras weren't running - like driving Fredo to the hospital after Don Corleone is shot in the infamous "fruit stand" scene, or rescuing Tom Hagen from the clutches of Sollozzo's men. But all you GTA fans need not fear - you can also extort businesses to earn money for yourself and the Corleones, wreak havoc through all of New York's various neighborhoods, and use the "Respect Points" you'll earn to upgrade your abilities. You can also perform side missions like favors - bribe an official or the like - and hits - whack somebody, obviously. The main difference is the control style. They don't call the Wii version the "Blackhand Edition" for nothing - the combat system, at least when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, is easy to learn and fairly responsive. Using a gun isn't much harder, but when you're facing off with one bad guy, it's simply more fun to wail on him with your WiiMote and Nunchuk. Two or more might require use of a gun, and also some tactics. This is not a fast-paced shooter - rush in, guns blasting, and you'll be, in the word the game uses, "Iced" - and then automatically revived, short a hundred or so bucks, which ought to leave you with a lot left over. This game is one of those that is just fun without seeming to try. If you're a Godfather fan, pick it up. If you're not, then you might want to see the first two movies, then pick this up. Or don't see the movies if you want. You'll like this game anyway.
