I really hope for this game to be great, but turned out to be another let down.

Single Player:
The single player aspect of the game starts you as a mantel trooper, Shane carpenter, who is a new member of the war. You learn later in the game that he was in college, but dropped out because he was hearing all these bad things, and wondered why his life was worth living if he was hearing about all these bad things in the world, but wasn't going to do anything about it. so he drops out and join the mantel.
You join the mantel, and for a brief moments, your screen go's black and white and flashes 'nectar disruption'. at this point in time, you can see things you normally can't see, such as dead bodies and blood. you eventually start to think that the mantel is wrong, and it isnt good to fight with them, so you quit and join the rebels, who are the opposing team.
One more thing I'll say about the story is that the characters were flat. The mantel troops were big meatheads who wanted nothing more to kill and the rebels wre the peaceful happy guys who just wanted the war to end.
I won't go any further with the plot, and i'll start on the gameplay. When you're playing as the mantel troop, you have nectar, which makes you faster, stronger, and your enemies glow. you can overdose for holding L2 for too long, which makes you spin around, shooting your team mates uncontrollably. While you play for the rebels, you have many more concepts such as nectar grenades and knives, which it hit an enemy, will cause them to overdose. Something I didnt quite understand was why they didnt have those ability's while you were on the mantel, which is another aspect of the bad storytelling. If you get injured enough, you have a tactic called play dead (self explanatory) and gives you an unfair advantage over, mantel, especially in multiplayer. (Talked about further down).
The enemy's arn't too bright, no matter what side your on. When you're on the mantel, you get a sense that the mantel is the superior on of the sides, but when you join the rebels, the mantel seem weak and stupid and unable to kill more then one of your stupid team mates. Which brings me to another point about the A.I., which is that also your team mates arn't very bright. At one point in the game, your team mate dies and i went to heal him, and he ends up doing the exact same thing that caused him to die in the fist place.

Multiplayer:
The multiplayer was kind of hard to talk about because there wasn't a whole lot of people online. But a good thing (or maybe i should say a bad thing) was thre was the option to play with bots. The reason i said bad thing is that the A.I is extremely stupid and even on my first time playing with them i kicked their asses with 35 kills and 9 deaths (Most deaths on purpose).
Playing with real players was more fun. There was deathmatch, team deathmatch, and team assault. I really enjoyedplaying team assault. You were given an objective to complete, and although i didnt play multiplayer a lot i only saw one where you had to move a large vehicle to a certain point and deploy it. This was fun and the most popular game mode, so i didnt get to experience much the other modes (except with the bots).

I recommend this game to a rent as people who think the game sounds interesting because the single player did get boring towards the end and since there's not many people online at once you probably will just want to play the single player thru and try multiplayer for bit.
I may have been too generous with this games score, since i wanted it to be good. The action all in al wasn't that intense (although the nectar weapons and play dead aspect is cool) and the concepts while on the mantel troops arn't that interesting. This game, unfortunately, made me glad i only borrowed it from a buddy and didnt spend the $ on it.

A dreadful PS3 shooter

Truly embarrassing -- I feel for the guys at Free Radical (who made the awesome TimeSplitters games -- but this is a travesty. God-awful graphics, abysmal storytelling and writing, and generally bad shooting gameplay make for a real stinker. This game should've been cancelled before it even came out.

BORING

If you are totally desperate for a shooter you could not do much worse than this disappointing title. With preachy, annoying characters that ramble on about nothing and pointless drug references( Nectar makes you faster? and makes your enemies glowwy, OOO WOW Shiny!) this game took what could have been an interesting premise and smashed us over the head with it. If you are bored with Call of Duty and Halo...wait for something batter. You know, like gears of war 2 or resistance 2.

Haze: The Underdog

Played on a 52" Bravia; 720p upscaled resolution, the game seems solid.

Story The story is quite interesting, once you get past the witty and annoying banter of the obviously bullshark testosterone or in this case Nectar injected soldiers you'll be fighting with in the early stages within Mantel. One thing that makes this story bland is just that. If you can just ignore their stupid remarks and see past it you'll be able to enjoy the story better. The dialogue between supporting characters seem like wasted hyperbole and often unnecessary while the dialogue between main characters is OK at best.

Graphics If I had to compare the graphics to another FPS, it would seem to be just about on equal ground as Halo 3 without the excess blooming; but it certainly isn't a Gears of War or Call of Duty 4. One thing I noticed is when injected with Nectar the textures can get distorted and pixelated; but I support that is the purpose when distinguishing enemies with the blight glow and making it easier to spot them. The graphics look good; but not great. Each blade of grass I noticed would shuffle when you walk through them which I thought was cool, but they still looked low-res. Facial expressions were good, and mo-cap was good too. Animations were OK, and sometimes seemed recycled. A.I. was unimpressive as enemies and allies alike would run into fire and often into your own. As mentioned in some of the reviews, I didn't notice a significant drop in framerate at all, which is a huge plus; Especially when driving a vehicle. Although the vehicle physics are good, they obviously didn't spend much time on the mechanics as driving them is tasking more than fun. Explosion effects were great, mostly due to the post-processing done. Another thing I noticed while idling and reading subtitles, a butterfly would land on the barrel of my gun...interesting and pretty cool.

Gameplay It's a rush. Playing with Nectar, you get absorbed into using it often, conveying the whole addiction of it. The game seems to have gotten at least the basic mechanics of a FPS down to a tee. Firing a weapon feels powerful, hitting the enemies feels rewarding, and the sound; despite review claims; is great. I play on a 5.1 surround system (I don't know what the other reviewer's setup is) but the sound was great. Other complaints included the lack of a competent waypoint system. Being an avid FPS gamer, the included compass/waypoint system on the top of the screen served as an adecquate navigation system and I didn't get lost in the levels like they claimed. The melee seems a bit off though as it would take numerous attempts to hit someone with it, usually having to be very precise with distance and aim.

Overall, the game seems solid and if you're not too distracted by the lame remarks here and there you willl find yourself enjoying the game. Online multiplayer up to 16 players, including 4 player co-op is also what makes this game fun. It's not the AAA, Halo killer many people hoped for, but it's certainly a solid shooter to add to anyones PS3 library, with a replay value that scores high in my opinion with it's multiplayer modes including In-Game invites, yes... in-game invites. You may recall a similar system on Resistance if you've played it online, you can invite friends while in-game to join at any time, and even send messages while in-game. Perhaps Free Radical put multiplayer first and foremost on their priorities. The game isn't a must-have title, but if you pick it up... you're bound to not regret it and will probably be playing for hours online; Competitively or Cooperatively.

Story: 8/10
Graphics: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Replay Value: 9/10

OVERALL: 8/10

This is a dam shame.

I think we all know why this game was bumped back to a PS3 only exclusive, . . . it's terrible. The demo feels and looks like an original xbox game, the dialog again is silly and juvinial. . . They have been going out of their way to take a back seat and NOT promote the game either, and rightly so, we wouldn't want another Lair on our hands, . . but the fanboys just couldn't let it go, which is making this seem all the more dramatic. They all pumped up Haze like they had already played the game. . . Man, to be a flu on the wall at some of these guys places when they played it for the first time, . . priceless. The game, worth a rental? Maybe.

Buts its also fun to hear what happens to beat your own team mates(online team mates) I have healed/killed 20 of my own team mates.....And YES!! i will report my review of the full game when i get it.
