The best Ridge Racer in awhile...

I have played every single Ridge Racer game that I could find from the PS1, to the N64, to the DS, to the PSP, to the 360, and then the latest on the PS3 so I did have high expectations for this series wherever it goes to. I didn't like RR5 for the PS2 since it was the same old stuff and not any better than RR4 with nothing new then came the PSP game and that is where the turning around of this series begun. Then the 360 version which is RR6 added on to the turbo boosts from the PSP version and added online play via XBL. RR7 adds more to RR6 by allowing you to customize your car and adding some new locales as well. I'd give this game a perfect 5.0 but I do miss the rumble from RR6 (damn you Sony) and online has been okay but some features caused my PS3 to freeze up (screw you Namco). I did like putting the RR7 disc into the PS3 and seeing updated rankings compared to other RR fanatics worldwide. Makes you want to become the king of RR. And the amazing thing is that this game could have been even better. Sony needs to include the rumble and Namco needs to improve the online stuff (maybe it's partly Sony's fault...who knows?) but I can imagine RR8 being that perfect RR game.
Online was definately best part

Not a huge Ridge Racer fan but this game was great. Especially the online. There is so many customizations that you can do to the races that really give it alot of variety. The only thing missing is 2 player grand prix mode. I don't understand why when you race 2 players you have to do it only with eachother and not against the computer.
7=lucky number?

A new generation of game consoles. A new generation of racing games. Well, not exactly. RR7 is a good game, but its not really a NEXT-gen racer. Its a pretty simple game, but thats not a bad thing. The game looks good (it supports 1080p), controls good (it even has motion-sensor), and sounds good. The maps and cars are good although the developers cheapened out by putting "inverse" tracks. You can buy cars, buy new engines, change the paint, blah blah blah. Its pretty basic stuff. Online is good and generally lag-free. I also liked the team race mode. Split-screen, however, isn't as good. There is just one game mode and it only supports two people (the PS3 can hold up to SEVEN controllers at a time). So, in the end, its a good game but its nothing you haven't played before.
