The Doctor Simulator = great

Trauma Center: Second Opinion is one of the good Wii games that actually makes good use of the Wii's controls. I enjoy this game alot. There are tons of operations to do. The Healing Touch is awesome. I liked the story. So whats not to enjoy?

The Quintessential Wii Game

This game is perhaps the single one that (besides Wii sports of course) allows you to use the uniqueness of the Wii to it's full extent. While the game play isn't hard and the story at times becomes almost too boring to take, all of it's problems go away in a flash when you start the operation. While they aren't hard they do require precision and no matter what they cause you to get into the game, more than you ever would have thought you would have.

And you wanted to be an actor when you grew up.

You've got to hand it to Atlus. In a video game market filled with most of the same released ad nauseum, they do something that no one else would ever think of. Who in their right mind would make a video game where the player performs surgery? And yet, the first Trauma Center, Under the Knife, was a hit for the Nintendo DS. Now the Wii gets its own version, Second Opinion. If you own the DS version, you'll find not much has changed. You still use scalpels, healing gel, and the like, to try and save patients from various diseases and injuries. The difference is that, now, the stylus has been switched out for the WiiMote. Every incision is done by pointing the WiiMote at the screen and sliding it over the cut line while using the Nunchuk to select instruments. Every shard of glass is removed by pressing the A and B buttons (in a remarkably forceps-like simulation) and pulling it away at the proper angle, and so on. It's a great new way of doing the game, and it's done really well. There's some attempt at a story which could have either been done better or left alone, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience. This is the kind of game the Wii is selling right now: quirky, not something you'd find on most other systems, but oddly entertaining. Even if you're not planning on going to med school, this game should definitely be in your library.

A Challenging Medical Adventure

When I got Trauma Center, I wasn't expecting it to take hold of me so quickly. When I first heard about the game, I was expecting a quirky little title with doctor fun. But this game is so much more. For starters, the graphics are absoultely amazing. Everything from the slightly bleeding lacerations to the pulsating hearts you operate on breathes with life, and a unique anime style for the characters is the icing on the cake. The soundtrack is a fair addition, featuring a few songs that will get stuck in your head but nothing that is ground-breaking. Also, the constant beeps that you hear upon a successful interaction can get JUST a little repetitive. Where Trauma Center truly shines, though, is in the control and gameplay factors. Every motion you make is followed by a small, easily recognizable dot onscreen. The Nunchuck also falls seamlessly into gameplay as a tool selector. The wiimote and nunchuck duo also serves some interesting functions throughout the course of the game, such as a defibrilator which is activated by pushing both of the controllers in and then pressing a single button. The game is challenging at first, but difficulty modes more than make up for some of the harder (or easier) missions. Also, the desire to get a perfect rating on all of the operations AND extra operations not featured in the original DS version add hours of replay value. Trauma Center is an amazing overlooked game for the Wii, and once you've accomplished Twilight Princess, it adds more zest to the amazing console. A little more AI competence for some of the harder missions and a better soundtrack would lead this game to total perfection. But for its genre and style, the game is simply excellent. Now, back to some heart surgery.

I AM DOCTER!

What a day I had when I Picked up this game for the first time I was Thrilled! You see I had never played the DS version so there was noithing for me to realate thet to. The game play is pretty simple, but still difficult. One thing I found strange was the amount of time you had. In most cases it was etheir too much or not enough. I also would have liked some actual voice overs. I mean you spend 25% of the game reading! Over all I was pleased by the game with some minor flaws. If you have a Wii this is probably a game you will want. Pros: Fun game play with a good story. Cons: Too much text!!

Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Trauma Center: Second Opinion is a fun game where you get to be the surgeon and use your Wii remote for many different things including a scalpel, laser, and forceps. Although this game can be fun at times, the thing that completely ruined this game for me is that it's way too hard. You have to be almost exact for how to make an incision, and it's really hard to do that with the Wii remote. And most of the game is focusing on using the scalpel to cut. This would've been a great game if it wasn't so hard.

Certainly not scrubs, but it can be!

This game accomplishes something many games today don't, I actually became enthralled by it's gameplay and believed I was a Doctor! Indeed, that is the biggest strength for Trauma center, I believe. Second Opinion is the Wii version of the critically acclaimed DS game. So let's break it down. Gameplay: The gameplay is fun. Simply put. You are first given the easy tutorial levels, which pull you into the game. But after that, I found myself quickly becoming a pro, because the gameplay is very accesible to most gamers. Despite being easily accesible, it does have it's challenging moments, so children and Surgical experts can enjoy! Sound: The epic score is interesting. Though that's so, it isn't so interesting as to merit use through the entire game. I do like that during dramatic cutscenes, the music will go to a mix between doctor drama and anime drama music. The voiceovers are pretty good, for however long they last, because they only ever say a phrase or two. Graphics: The in-game graphics are pretty good. Looking inside a patients body isn't too confusing, while seemingly having a look of realism. I am not digging the cookie-cutter characters in the cutscenes. Text only cutscenes, without animation really bug me now-a-days, especially with modern cut-scenes looking so amazingly real. All in all: Great game. I find myself tying the characters of Scrubs, into the characters of Trauma center. Despite that, this isn't at all like Scrubs, and the drama is more like that of ER. But it does allow you to feel as if you're in the OR. Final word? Certainly not scrubs, but it can be! (Cheers.)
