When i picked up Crisis Core, I thought that I was going to have a good time with it because i'd heard good things. I'm not normally an RPG fan, but this game was more than good, it was great! With gorgeous graphics for a handheld, a great combat system, terrific story, and epic boss fights, as well as tight controls, this was the title that would keep me playing my PSP for hours on end. There are so many other good things about this game, that i can't even list them all. I had a great time with this game, and every other psp owner should. Even if your not a Final Fantasy fan, i recommend everyone should at least rent this title. With all the good things i listed above, plus more, put into the game, its hard not to love Crisis Core. A definite buy for all PSP owners

!!!

Crisis Core was awesome. The amazing cut-scenes where incredible... I knew it was going to be good (like other Final Fantasys) but I never thought that a hand-held Final Fantasy would be this great. After all, it is a prequel to FFVII, which everyone knows is the best of the series.

Final Fantasy vII Crisis Core

This is the best game I've ever played the greatest game I own. Genesis is the best game character ever.

Whoa...just whoa.

Having just recently discovered the Final Fantasy games in the last few years, I have yet to be disappointed with any of them. The graphics only get better, visually stunning cut scenes that let you in on the beautiful worlds around the characters. FFVII: Crisis Core was an adventure, to say the least. I got caught up with a lot of backstory that I was curious about, but, it also left some ends open as to other characters that I'm dying to find out about...The battle system was easily mastered, the items helpful, and the materia fusion ability all powerful. It sets one on a path to play all the games in sequence, and leaves one begging for more details. FFVII is one of the most beloved games of all time, with unforgettable characters, and an intriguing plot. Crisis Core only adds to this. No FF fan will be disappointed. I know I wasn't.

Crisis Core

I am a HUGE Final Fantasy VII fan. I was glad when i heard that another game of FFVII was coming out. I was completely satisfied with the entire gameplay and story. Zach Fair was always hinted at in FFVII and i was wanting to know the background character and why he was so important to Cloud's person. In this game you meet a lot of the people of FFVII and find out some of the reasons why the Turks are after him and how those "brothers" in Advent Children came around. Genesis, Angeal, and Zack Fair are very memorable characters. If you just play the game you'll love the story and where it ends. The gameplay is a lot like Kingdom Hearts and at first is a little difficult to get used to but you end up loving it after a while. A great feature is the DMW Reel. I never knew what DMW stood for but, it worked pretty nicely in my experience with it. The limit breaks are great and range from levels 1-5. All of them are very useful. Make sure you take your time with all the different missions. always look for chests during the missions because they sometimes hold important items. Side quests are also important in getting you summons and character change limit breaks on the DMW. Materia fusion is another great addition as it lets you explore new materia like darkness. and you can create some pretty cool materia. The level up system can be a little challenging because it is based on wether or not you get three 7's (777) on the DMW reel while you fight. It happens a lot more often then you think, but at times it can be frustrating. You'll get use to it. Just play the game for yourself. It's great, a lot of fun, and fills in some questions about a few things, but also leaves a few. Play it soon! This is a must get if you are a HUGE FFVII fan like myself!

Final Fantasy VII prequel?

Ya know, a prequel to a popular story can be a double edged sword in many ways. For example, the prequel Star Wars trilogy showed how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. Prequels expand on the mythos of a story, but there can be a certain feeling of either dread of helplessness in the fact that the main character is going to meet a fate they may not deserve or can be changed. That is what I felt while playing Crisis Core. Set before the events of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core tells the events leading up to the destruction of Nibelheim at the hands of Sephiroth as well as it's aftermath. Zack Fair is the protagionaist, and we all know what happens to him in the end. It is the object of the gane to see him get there. The game shys away from the turn based system of it's predecessor and goes for more of an action/RPG style similar to Dirge of Cereberus. As Zack, you fight your way through monsters, enemy soldiers, and other baddies to complete the game. The fighting is a bit repetive and does not offer a lot of depth to the action, usually combat is pressing the X button over and over until all enemies are dead by hacking away at them with your sword. The materia system of the FFVII universe returns but is not as important as it was in FFVII. Limit Breaks, summons, and even leveling up are left to chance via the Digital Mind Wave system, a constantly revolving slot machine that determines when Zack uses limits, summons, levels up himself or his materia, or even gains certain status. A strange idea to leave abilities that can be the difference in winning and the game over screen to chance, but it worked out. The game is a bit linear with some sidequests thrown in and the story is not very complicated and fits in well into the FFVII mythos. Familiar faces make an appearance ranging from returning characters to monsters as well as the introduction of new characters. As well as some answers to some questions you may have had, like how Genesis came to know the members of Deepground. Also, the reimaging of the events of Nibelheim were a treat to see. Sound is a fine point as well. The music score has some nice new additons to it as well as the return of classic tracks from the other games. The voice acting is crisp and nicely worked. The voice actors from Advent Children make their return for the game as well as some actors who are new and some from Dirge of Cereberus appear as well. Not a lot of gripes here, well almost none. One would be the simplistic combat scheme, but with all the overall good points of this game, it it easily overlooked. Especially if your a Final Fantasy VII fan, like me. For any FFVII fan, Crisis Core is a must, as well as a no brainer.

The goods and bads of ff-cc

Many have waited for this game and thought that battling would be like final fantasy 7. And others thought they would play with sephiroth but we were wrong the only character you can play with is The unknown Zack but even though the game was sick and more challanging. The summonings are sick and the two new characters are so great Angeal&Genesis(if you ever got the secret ending for Dirge of Cerberus you would notice that genesis is reborn which tells you that they have to make another ff7 game)what sucks is that you can't travel around the world when you want to train instead you can only do missions to train but the missions are so great even the one against 1000 soldiers. Out of all the bad things this is the best ff game for a hand held right now and I hope they come out with another ff7 piece to add to my collection

Awesome!!!

Best game on my PSP to date. Zack kicks ass, Introduction of Cloud, and how everything got started. I never stopped playing it ever since I got it, and I don't plan on stopping now. It's a must have for every PSP owner.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII FTW!

A NEW WAY TO PLAY FF GAMES.

LIke many other GamePro users, I have been eagerly waiting for this game to come out for the PSP for two to three years. Was the two to three year wait well worth it? After playing through the game, I have to say it was well worth it.

First of all, let's start with the new battle system. I have not played Final Fantasy XII yet so this was my first time with the real time system with action RPG elements. Like many other Final Fantasy diehard fans, I was not sure how this would play out because the most recent Final Fantasy game I played was Final Fantasy X for the PS2 which was the last Final Fantasy game to include a turn based battle system. Turns out that I really did enjoy the new battle system although there is only one character in this game that you control and that is Zack. With the X button, that is the action button in battle where you can attack with the Buster sword (Zack does not start out with that sword but will get that sword eventually), attack with magic, or use items. The square button is to evade attacks which is awesome when you get the hang of it. The triangle button is to defend with the Buster Sword. You can select that attack command with the circle button but I prefer to use the L and R buttons because in real time, speed means everything. This game feels more of a beat 'em up game except you can develop the character. Anyone remember The Bouncer? It feels a bit like that and if this is indeed the direction that Square Enix wants to take the Final Fantasy series, I will be thrilled!

The graphics are the best I have seen on the PSP to date. You get the CG stuff as well which is freaking awesome. Some of the CG stuff are even from the original FFVII game on the PSone. The way the environment and the battle system blends just shows you how much effort Square Enix put in making this game for the PSP. I'd say this game would have looked pretty good on the PS2 as well. Way to go SE!

One of the notable differences in this game compared to the first 10 FInal Fantasy games is that there is no world to explore and this takes away the exploration aspect of past Final Fantasy games. The game seems to be pretty linear but this is where the missions come into play. Since there is no overworld to make Zack into the biggest badass character, the missions provide a way to level up Zack and there are 300 missions which is quite a lot and I completed just 15% of the missions when I beat this game just recently so the replay value really kicks in with the missions. After expriencing the missions, I do not miss the overworld or exploration aspect of past Final Fantasy games and this makes me much more excited for Final Fantasy XIII which is supposed to have a similar story structure as FFVII and FFX and those two are my most favorite FF games so I am looking forward to that game if that game follows the blueprint of CC:FFVII.

This is a must get if you have played the original FFVII and for JRPG fans that want a RPG that is not turn based. This game could very well appeal to action game fans as well.

If I could give this game a 6 out of 5 rating, I'd do it!
