In Marvel: UA, you play a cast of super heroes trying to stop Dr. Doom and his team "Master of Evil" from trying to take over the world. The game hits all spectrums of the comic book world, giving you plenty of characters to choose from: Spiderman, Wolverine, Deadpool, Captain America, Blade and many more. Recently, downloadable content was release for you to be able to play as some villians as well, including the infamous Venom. You can play by yourself you with three teammates, and these teammate can either be bots or human players. Think of this game as a super advance type of Gauntlet.
Each character has a host of special moves, and better yet, when used at the same time as another character, the moves combine and have special effects. The graphics aren't mind-blowing, but they portray what it needs to with all the characters moves. You are able to upgrade moves to make them stronger or to have longer lasting effects. Most of the characters are well-balance, minus the very few that are a little too overpowered....Wolverine for example.
For a game that comes free with some of the 360 consoles, this game is great fun. If you talk to everyone in the game and do all sidequests and subplots, and collect all comic books, this game does well in longevity. I definately recommend this game, even if its just for a rent.

There's no denying that this is basically X-Men Legends, but with just more characters. But this is X-Men Legends, done 110% better. The levels are larger, the enemies are harder, the story is awesome, & the superheores & effects are very detailed. Also, this game is a lot longer than X-Men Legends 2, so stop bickering. Who doesn't want to fight alongside Iron Man & Captain America, or even Thor? If you don't, than you got a screw (or 2) loose. Overall, twice as better as Legends, thrice as better as Legends 2.

If you go in expecting nothing more than a hack and slash, you will be pleased. Thats what it is. Loads of heroes and villains to command. A good amount of missions, and tight controls. I still play it some times for mindless fun.

I rented this game for the 360, and took a chance on it. I wasn't sure if it was going to suck or be fun. It was a great game from the start. As in most games your team A.I. is not very smart, and the graphics aren't exactly next-gen, but the gameplay and the fun of beating the crap out of people makes you pretty much forget about it. If this game could just improve in the graphics department it would be rated a 5 in my book. A really good game all around.

If you get past the poor level design, poor graphics, and corny spiderman lines; this is a great arcade game. The character in this game look great with a good amount of powers. Yet the Battles get repetitive quickly, and there is only so many times blasting away enemies with your powers is fun. But when you grab a buddy or 3, this game becomes insanely fun. An added benifit is the ability for your friends to jump in and out of a game at any time. So get over the subpar story and 80's style of arcade fighting, and play this game today.

This a pretty good game, figuring it is the same thing like x-men legends. But when you combine different sets of heros, like ironman, with ghost rider, blade and Dr.strange. To face off against doctor doom and his empire of evil. I just thought that the level up could have been done better managed better. But that is only a small thing. all and all a good game

We all know what happens when you put badass super heroes in a videogame: it usually sucks. From Superman, to Batman and even Spawn, most super heroes dont make the virtual transfer so well. Lately, however, there has been a formula arising in the Marvel universe to crush this crappiness in comic book games. It started with X-Men: Legends and has now become perfected with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. The formula is quite simple. Take one part Baldurs Gate, two parts comic book, and throw as many heroes and villains into the mix as you can. The result is perhaps the best mix since peanut butter and chocolate or first-person shooters and demons. The game has you pick one-to-four people in your party and go hunt down the villains in many different and unique locals, such as underwater, Valhalla, and even Hell itself. There are a total of 20 super heroes to choose from to put in your party. You got Blade, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and even one of my favorites; Deadpool. Each character has his or her own special power attacks (all of which can be upgraded through experience) that can be used by holding a trigger and pressing a face button. And you can also put together your own default team that will gain extra experience and reputation points by completing quests. This is all the more fun when playing co-op with three of your friends. The controls have really been streamlined to the point where you dont even notice them. Doing combo attacks and using you special powers become second nature well before the end of the first mission. Like I said, this is a formula that has been perfected. Raven software (who did the extremely graphic Soldier of Fortune games) made both X-Men: Legends games and this one. So they know what makes a great comic book game. The audio in the game, although nothing special, does have some high points. The explosions and body hits in the game are nice and thunderous and the voice acting is done very well. The lines of script in the game are also very entertaining. If you want a laugh, keep Deadpool on your team and listen to what he says when he levels up. The one thing I was surprised to be amazed at in this game was the graphics. Since this is a top-down style game, you really cant see the awesome visuals as well as most, but if you zoom in the camera you will notice the amazing detail that went into every texture in the game. They way every material reflects light in its own way and how the specials effects fill the screen, it is just simply amazing. The in-game cinematics are as good, if not better, than most other generations computer generated movies. Its just too bad it isnt more noticeable. Maybe they should have added a third-person camera angle option. If you were to ask me what my favorite game is, I would not lie. I would say it is the Punisher game that came out a couple of years ago. However, that is only my favorite because he is my favorite super hero, and its gory as hell. For general audiences and comic book diehards alike, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is your safest bet for best comic book game of all time.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is the follow up to the x-men legends games but it has loads more going on than previous instalments. First of all the heor roster is iuch improved. Spiderman, ghostrider, silver surfer, dardevil, captain america, wolverine and other marvel all stars are all playable. The story is interesting if a little too mystical for those who tend to be turned off by the notions of magic or gods but despite some hot and cold vocie acting, the story is interesting. The game touts branching storylines but what it really means is that at the end of the game depending on how amny of the optional objectives you completed you will be told how much you messed up the future through a little clipshow at the end. The game plays very similarly to the previous instlments but now flying characters can do so without draing their powers and everyone has chargable attacks. The levels are reltively expansive but the enemies do get a little repetitive, even some of the mini-bosses are rpeated (you fight scorion at least twice, possibly three times) however you won't notice this as you try to level up your team and frantically battle hordes of enemies ina combo of button mashing hit and run tactics and power management strategizing. Also after a certain point you are to make your own team and level them together and their team stats. This adds replay value as you sorta limit hpow many characters you switch per play thru and explore new teams each time. The game is pretty long so you'll ahve fun with each team and level the up considerably. The comic missions are back and improved with more incentive this time. for each characters individual comic mission if you suceed and get a good enough score you'll be awarded with new costumes and experience points. Each character has 4 costumes that bolster certain abilities differently as well. Graphically the 360 version looks good, but not great. The character models look like they are average last gen renders (like Rise of the Imperfects) but they get the job done and considering last version's graphics this is a step up. The environments also look good in a workman way. All things considered this game is engrossing and will ahve you playing for hours with or without friends. You'll ahve almost no excuse to quit this game after one playthrough either with all the comic missions, unlockables and new teams to level and play as. My only gripe is there is no multiplayer versus this time around but the co-op mode is so perfect, you won't really care. This is truely marvel's ultimate game so far and i can't wait to see what future installments will be like.

This game was full of great game play for ma all of my friends. The control was slick and very fulid and connected. The only thing that I did not like was how the graphics were a bit poor, mostly for the 360. I felt as if more could have been done for them. Other then that this is a must buy game.
