Perfect

Alot may disagree with me but in my eyes this is absolutely the best game of 2006. Forget Zelda, Resistance and GOW this game blows them all away. It's got all the best elements of stealth combat, action, and strategic gameplay. The cover system works flawlessly. Game of the Year 2006!

How Montreal Saved Rainbow

Rainbow Six is the most coveted and cherished tactical action series of all time. It broke new ground by being ultra realistic when the first one was released in 1998. It gained popularity fairly quickly because it was the only game of its kind when it was released. But then something happened. The fourth installment, Lockdown, sucked so bad that even the most die-hard Rainbow fans couldnt bring themselves to play it. It seemed the series had taken a tragic turn that it could not recover from. Now that the new shiny systems are out, can next-gen magic bring this fallen warrior back to its boots? Yes. It can and it has. Rainbow Six: Vegas is arguably the best game in the series. It has revamped its own formula and made a truly next-gen tactical shooter. So many new tricks have been added. Such as the ability to rappel down the sides of buildings, slip a snake cam under a door and target enemies as priorities for your team to handle, a new cover system, and the ability to fire blindly over walls. All of these things set a pretty high standard for any would-be tactical shooters in the making. The story is pretty standard though. A group of terrorists have bombs and hostages spread across buildings and you have to come in and save them. Some twists do occur, but nothing you havent already figured out within the first few cut-scenes. However, the setting is nice. Las Vegas is a great city to have under siege and it hasnt been done like this before. It also leads to fantastic shootouts in casinos and in the bright and colorful streets. What makes this even better is the fact that the game looks extremely realistic and mind-blowing. Its running on the Unreal 3 Engine (also used in Gears of War), and does some fantastic things with it. Unlike Gears of War which has an almost cartoony like look to it, Rainbow Six is all realism. Its the closest thing Ive seen to photorealism in a game and really makes you wonder how much farther can graphics go before it cant be upgraded any farther. The multiplayer is also very addictive and destined to be one of the top games on Live. This type of strategic gameplay always seems to be the most fun when played with other people. Especially when you execute a plan flawlessly and kill everyone in a room without them getting a shot off. Another great part about the multiplayer is the character customization. You can even map your face onto your character with the Live web camera. The controls are also very solid, although it seems like some things could have been tweaked, especially after playing Gears of War. The cover system in Gears has so many more options in it, like quickly switching to another close piece of cover and running in from cover. It just seems like these things should have been included because it really makes gameplay much more fluid, especially in a game as hard as this. Although your health does regenerate, do not think Rainbow Six has gone soft. Its still as hard as ever. One good shot and youre down. I love that type of realism in games that execute it well enough and Rainbow does. Problem is, many people become turned off by the hardcore realism and dont have the patience to plan before they attack. So, like the other Rainbow games, you will either love it or hate it. The only part of the game that most everyone will hate, however, is the save system. You run into set checkpoints and can only continue from there after you die. This can get very frustrating when you get through a tough firefight, get killed in the next one, and have to play out the first section again. This is next-gen, why cant we have a save anywhere system? This is without a doubt the best tactical shooter out there right now. If you love tactical shooters or Clancy games, buy this right now. If you never liked the realism, this is probably not for you

If you are not into these type of games, get this.

I have never been into these types of games at all. I went ahead and downloaded the demo. I played it and from the very start I was hooked! I went ahead and purchased the game the next day. This game has great graphics, sound, online multiplayer is difficult. (for me, Im not good at this online) and control. The control will get a little getting used to. But I love the Cover and fire tactics that Gears of War uses also. This isnt your standard run and gun like halo. You need patience and some strategy for this game. Overall: I love this game. like I said. I was never into these types of games and stayed away from it...that is...until I played this.

BEST Rainbow 6 in years.

This is the best rainbow six in years because it has the elements a tacticle shooter should have. This title saved the rainbow six title from extintion, in my opinion. So, if you havnt played a good game in a while play this one!

Outstanding game

Rainbow Six is one of the best looking games to date. The gameplay is solid and being able to play the campaign coop is a real plus. I don't really like the cover system in this game but the ease with which you throw grenades is nice. My major problem is spawnkillers and that is not so much the game as the people playing it.

sigh..... another one

very happy with the graphics, however some of the tactics used in the game were retarded to put it bluntly,ex.in the trailer when you or your men take cover behind a table it leaves almost half of you exposed to enemy fire, you also dont put your back on the table and then pop out around a corner becaus you have to bring the gun up and aim then fire, your supposed to be far enough awaw from the wall whereyou can shoulder the gun so you just have to lean out already ready and jus shoot! This saves a precious second and possibily your life! there is alot more like the damage and the scopes and the two rifles...but i wont get into that now i just like really realistic games.

Rainbow Six is a must have for 360

After seeing this game in action i must say this title looks to be a must have. The game has you a squad leader on an anti terrorist mission in Las Vegas. Right off the bat the visuals are impressive. The detail is incredible and the charactor animations are just as impressive. I could go on and on about how nice this game looks. Visuals aside, how about gameplay? This gameplay in this game looks deap an effective. one particular cool part has you and your squad outside a room containing terrorists and hostages. You slip a camera under the door to assess the situation. With this camera you can identify different entry points like other doors and windows. You can also "tag" baddies and assign your squad to attack just them on entry. So in this particular part you tag the baddies you want your squad to hit, then you go to another door (other entrypoint) to flank. issue the command to bust into the room. While your squad takes out the guys assigned to them you take out the other guys on the other side of the room. Bam, all dead and not a hostage hurt. Games like this are what is going to define the next gen experiance. No more just running and gunning but planning and executing strategic attacks. This game is looking to be outstanding with top notch, true next gen graphics and gameplay to match. i am not sure at this point about online play but I am sure it will be included especially on the 360 version.
