Its fun, but I get owned online everytime because there is no guide telling how to build a good Hound, and noone (even in my squad) would tell me. There is basically no single player, it is just training for online.

Before I begin my review I want to start by saying that this game has little to offer in the category of single player campaign. I would not purchase this game unless you have an XBL membership.
Single Player-weak
As I said before this game was not created to entertain the lonely gamer. It was meant and created for XBL members. You are a mercenary hired for war and you must complete missions in categories based upon Role Types such as Commander, Heavy Gunner, Scout, Sniper, Soldier, and Defender. You are at will to create your hound from a limited supply of parts (gain parts based upon mission completion) or to borrow an already prepared hound. The single player is entertaining but after you complete it, you probably wont play it again.
Xbox Live Multiplayer-strong
This is the greatest part of the game and keeps me entertained still. You can either join or create a squad and pledge your allegiance to one of three countries. (can change between wars) The amount of parts is virtually endless and each country has its own unique of weapons, cockpits, chassis, shields, etc. You can work with your squad and strategize to defeat your opponents. You can create a Sniper, Soldier, Commander, Defender, Heavy Gunner, or a Scout from hundreds of parts. The customization takes skill and time to master. This is the gold of this game because I have spent more time creating hounds than I have actually playing matches.
Gameplay-decent
The Gameplay is decent enough. You have several ways to win a match, the most common is to destroy your opponents. You have to enter the guncam mode (pressing the Left Stick) to see through the crosshairs, or you can see them on the top right corner of the screen. The only flaw in this category that I can think of is how when you destroy a hound, they seem to stop moving for a second and then spontaneously explode. Playing with a squad makes all the difference seeing as you can strategize, utilizing your different roletypes to exploit and destroy your opponents.
Basic Review
If you have XBL and enjoy Mech games, then I would at least rent this game. It gives you unlimited options to customize your hound. You can create a well armored soldier, or a quick, yet poweful sniper. This game recieves 4 Stars from me.

This is just an average mech game. Maybe at first its fun but after a while it gets old and gets old quick. The graphics are kind of bland and the mechs aren't that responsive.Overall this is just another dissapointing mech game.
Great Gameplay

I admit at first the game seems semi-boring but online play is amzing. After a couple missions i was hooked on this game. In this game players can create a hound(machine with giant guns) with hundreds of parts. Weapons go from a small machine gun to the largest double barrel cannon that you will ever see. This game also have very good graphics. Chromehounds is one of my top ten favorite games.
Dont buy unless you have XBL

i give this game a 4 because unless you have XBL you shouldnt buy it. The story is fairly dull and the parts you can get are limited UNLESS you have XBL. on XBL you can join a squad or make your own so that you can discuss tactics and hounds with your squad. your squad can have snipers, soldiers, scouts, commanders, heavy gunners, and defenders or whatever... you can create your hound around the teams strategy and win in one of several ways. you can customize your hound from 100s of different parts starting from scratch. if you like Strategy and mech games... then this is a must buy.

Chromehounds is a great mech game with a nearly limitless amount of customization. The major downside to this game is the offline mode. It's short, not that fun, and there just to prepare you for the online mode. The online mode is awesome. Choose between three countries, join a squad of up to twenty people, and participate in a huge war where every battle you fight affects your country's power. After two of the three countries are eliminated, the war ends, medals are awarded, and a new war starts up. Chromehounds, overall, is a great game... if you have Xbox Live Gold. Otherwise, it's just another mech game.

Alot of people really under-estimate this game. When they play this, this is what they think: God, this thing is slow as hell. This sucks, give it a bad review. On the contrary, this is indeed a very good game that can be placed as one of the best uses of the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live out there. The game makes good use of the systems graphics porcessor to add more realism to the explosions and bursts of gunfire. The nighttime missions, while difficult, are a challenge, and when you play a night time mission as one of the types that has to get close, they provide headlights, that for once don't look cheesy. The game is as realistic as any mech game will get (except for Steel Battallion and it's 70+ button controller). People usually complain about the slow speed of the mechs, but, would gundam sell so much if they were slow? Yes, because they are a brand name. The sound in this game is my only qualm. It is so annoying and repetitive, and my music can't drown it out. The game controls the way it should: like you're piloting a massive humanoid tank. For once stats mean something and the heavier you are, the slower in everything you'll be. What I donot like is the etensive reload times on some of the guns. What are they running Macs or something? The game has a very extensive Xbox Live multiplayer mode, and the squad idea makes the game a bit friendlier. The steep learning curve in single player might turn casual players off, so I suggest this game only for intermediate to hardcore nerds and gamers. For fun factor, I'd have to say 3.75 out of 5

Make a Mech out of hundreds of parts and take it on Xbox live. There you can form strategies utilizing your strengths and mech-making abilities to destroy your opponents. The game is great for Xbox Live but if you dont have Xbox live DONT BUY IT!!!! The campain is boring and you can hardly get any parts for your mech.
