finally

FINALLY a 1st person shooter tht doesnt cause me to feel sick or get dizzy. lol I wqas really looking forward to playing this game and it was pretty much what i thought it was going to be. Its an amazing game, the battles are insane and i like how smart the chimera get as you increase the difficulty. Just an overall fun game and if this is a sign of things to come there is no doubt in my mind PLAYSTATION will have fabulous games like usual.

Resistance: Fall Of Man

After much debate and time playing this launch title for the PS3, there is nothing that could have satisfied me more during a time where Sony is in trouble with supplies and $$$ as well as faithful fans loyalty.

Set during WWII in July 11-14th, and u are put smack right in the action as Sgt. Nathan Hale who is US support for the European military. As you play, Sgt. Hale is infected with the virus known as Chimera. In time, the virus would transform u into one of the nasty creatures throughout the game. But for some reason, the virus in Nathan Hale seemes to transform him rather slowly than anyone else....but why?

As far as the story goes, I think its the best feature in the game. When comparing it to its close rival Gears Of War, Resistance takes the cake and more! Besides haveing just one objective, Resistance has many side objectives and keeps u entertained for a great while. The usually time to complete the game clocks in under 13hours so u'll b busy for awhile.

Now the Graphics...for a launch game, the grpahics are decent. Knowing that we are coming into the age of next-gen graphics, you'd expect something a bit more "better". But nevertheless the graphics are nice to look at. The cell processors are evident here with the great physics during gameplay. For example, while it is snowing you can really tell the detail in each snow flake passing you as you walk (if you have an HDTV, but if not, is still looks great) Another is when your fighting the enemy, once u kill them the way you hit them is the way they fall down, this here is what makes the cell processor stand out. I was every impressed here. But when comparing the graphics to Gears Of Wars, Resistance falls short, but room for GREAT improvement.

Who could not go on without telling something about the many choices of fire arms you have here. I would have to say I was eager to get the next weapon as the story progressed bc each weapon has its own advantage and (my favorite part) disadvantage, so you would have to choose wisely which weapon you would want when dealing with a specific enemy. In comparison to Gears Of War, I would declare that Resistance wins in this catagory bc of the VERY wide variety the player has and teh innovation in each fire arm.

Some of the things I didn't like about Resistance include the fact that the story really didnt go further into why Hale never fully transformed into one of the creatures. Yes they mention it but never really went into the meaning of it. Was he the modern day "Jesus"? Did he have another viurs in him b4 he got infected? Was he the chosen one? But other than that, everything was very satisfying for me.

But one more thing before I conclude this review, and thats about the Online gameplay. One word: Fun. I was a but optimistic about playing this online, but when i got started I couldnt stop. I mean what other game can you have up to 40 other ppl play with you at the same time? With this element, the gameplay is changed into a very fast paced and entertaining gaming experience. You can also create "Clans" and compete with other "Clans" which not only makes for teamwork but the building of friendships.

Resistance: Fall of Man is a great game for being a launch title. Though, many improvements (both little and big) can be made, for the time being this game is one of the best PS3 games out there. Do yourself a favor and get this game, you won't be dissappionted.

a sign of things to come

What can you say about a launch that has been full of disasters and criticism?? I for one ask the question "is there any saving grace in said disaster?" the answer to that is luckily yes. Resistance fall of man does for the ps3 what other titles have done for consoles at launch and that is give us one good game among a pile of crap. The game starts off by being just another fps, all that ends however when you find your first chimera weapon the bullseye. This game's brilliance is in blending classic fps shooter controls, great graphics with simply awesome weapons. Seems everytime you think you've mastered a weapon a new one is thrown into the mix allowing you to change strategies at just the right time. The best part of all these weapons is the timing and the spacing in which they're provided. You're never given two weapons at the same time and usually you have the perfect amont of time to learn to use it and not only that, but they all remain useful through out the whole game which is a treat for any fps or any shooter for that matter from the m2 carabine you start out with to the unstoppable(literally) auger you'll always need every weapon at your disposal to dispose of the chimera. Speaking of the chimera they make the game a treat as well. From the way they react against you by using cover team tactics or straight out rushing you when the need arises they're never predictable and never too easy to defeat or frustrating enough to make you throw the towel. This game uses a near perfect mix of lone tunnel/cave missions and open battles with AI npcs to get you through, even a survival horror-esque level is thrown in to creep you out. The story line although a bit corny is delivered well and the voice acting is good enough to make want to know more about the goings on of the main character, my only dissapointments were the end and the fact that the main character lacks that...character, with no voice and a "strong, silent type" personality that I think was a bit over done it kinda made me feel like I wouldn't get as clode as I have in the past(sephiroth you bastard you took aeris from me). Over all resistance is a well done and well executed game that is a lot deeper and unique than it's first few minutes would lead you to believe. Even though the graphics are not as impressive as they can be in suck a powerful system, it still kicks ass in hd, over all I would say it's definitely a must play in this launch and even a year after launch definitely a 5.0 from me

The First Must-Have for the PS3

If your are the proud owner of a PS3, and you have not played this game... You have some serious issues to work out and i would recommend seeking some professional help quickly. In resistance, You play as Nathan Hale, A soldier in the US Army. The game plays out kind of like a biography on A&E. you learn a little, play a lot. The graphics on this game are truely Beautiful, from the enchanting backdrops, to the shear detail of the Chimera. Even up close and personal you can tell a lot of love went in to each polygon of this game. As launch titles go, this is by far the most beautiful game i have ever come across. Gameplay is not to be taken lightly. Fast and intuitive enemies await and definately do not lack in numbers. The SixAxis control is put to good use incorporating a "shake" feature when a chimera latches on to you. also in online play, you can check your stats without letting off the trigger simply by tilting the controller to a 45' angle. Pretty sweet. Although this game is incredible, it does not make the system worth the money on its own. give it 6 months if you haven't bought a PS3 already and then, it's play time!

And the Hype Ensues

What we see in Resistance is a mixture of a Half-Life 2 wannabe and Medal of Honor. The story is nothing short of old-hat. I found myself lacking the urge to save the planet from the utterly predictable Chimeran war strategy: one main base that serves as the brain for their entire operation, destroying it destroys all subordinate bases. Graphically speaking, Insomniac puts great effort into designing the enemies. I was not, however, impressed with the human character design. Expecting a giant leap forward from this next-gen powerhouse, I was met with a small amount of texture enhancement and lighting effects that all but matched what I'm used to seeing in PC games. Environments and enemies showed no ill-effects from gun shot wounds, which was disappointing. I would like to see what kind of damage I'm doing with this unbelievable arsenal. Environments are not interactive, save the expected switch here or there. Resistance falls short on audio as well, making the same mistakes as Doom 3 before it. Weapons fizzle out with weak sound effects. Grenades and rockets reminded me of fireworks I used to play with as a child - the shotgun, as if I was firing a pellet rifle. Resistance's high point lies with the sniper rifle. I laughed when I slowed down time and cappe d enemy after enemy with headshots and observing their slow-mo reaction! The sniper rifle (Fareye) unfortunately only carries at maximum 12 rounds, so save those precious shots. Overall, Resistance: Fall of Man can only stand toe-to-toe with other FPS heavyweights because of its exclusive position on the PS3. Eventually, with the hype gone, it will only be remembered as a release title, and nothing more. This game makes me want to try Gears of War.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Resistance is simply the best FPS for any playstation. Very good weapons and highly detailed huge levels and an awesome story to go with it. They did an awesome job with the multiplayer and the way of unlocking extra content, it keeps me and many others play the game many times. And the online sensation is intense. I hope Insomniac will make a bigger and even better game soon.

The fall of man.

Yes i had to see what the hype was about on fall of man and this is my review. After putting in some hours on this game and also gears i will compare and give the outcome here. First off let me review fall of man. The graphics was fare not to shabby but no that great. The sound was sweet at moments but in a nutshell not as great as it could have been. Control was top of the life it felt natural to pick it up and give it a go and best of all my hands did not go numb. The fun factor was also great the storie had me thinking wow what if aliens took over near ww2. How would things be today. Is there a alien race out there that could do this? Just had my brain working in mad fun what ifs. Now this game is a must have for any ps3 gamer. But gears of war did a better job in sound graphics , control and also fun factor i feel more one with the characters in gears the voices are amaing in gears. They got every thing right. I felt a times that fall of man was the hytop soup you see at wal mart yeah its good but man you have to go with the chunky which is gears its just so much more filling. Thank you for reading my review on fall of man i hope it helps in you choice.

The Human Race isn't going anywhere!

Call me an early adopter, call me crazy for buying the PS3 on launch day, but whatever I am, all I know is that I am happy! Resistance Fall of Man is the game that everyone must have if you have a Playstation 3. Story 4.5 - You are Nathan Hale, an Army Ranger sent into Britain to fight of the Chimera who falls victim to the Chimera virus when his battalion is ambushed by the Chimera trying to meet up with the British forces. Unlike everyone else whose has fallen under the virus, he is immune but the virus seems to have infused with his body instead of infect it. Army Ranger Hale, with the help of the British forces, must stop the invasion before the world sees the fall of men from the Chimera. Gameplay: 5 - Excellent first person shooter. The controls feel natural. The AI is good. You be flanked Chimera more than you would like, but hey, that's how it goes. The Chimera are pretty persistent on making the title seem like reality within the game. What makes this game great is that it's tactical, choose your weapons wisely. Oh, did I forget to mention Co-op and multiplayer mode. They are great for friends if you bought extra controllers. Graphics : 4 - Graphics are excellent, but when the environment is big, you will notice the designer put less effort into small level designs. Sound : 4 - Nice sound effects from the Chimera to the guns. Overall 4.75 - A great title to be launched with the Playstation 3. Great replay value with Co-op and multiplayer action that will entertain you for a while you try to round up whatever money you have left from buying the Playstation 3 to buy a new game.
