This game is kickass, but it can get boring sometimes. I would die one time, and quit for a couple hours, and play something else. other then that its good
Very OK Game

Your a soldier in the 50s, killing aliens that want to turn you into them.
That's new. I hate the controls on this game, it would be much better if the controls were like Call of Duty 4. Thats pretty much it about this game.
I expected nothing less from Insomniac

As one of the few titles available around the launch of PS3, Resistance: Fall of Man is a title aimed at bringing an intense first person shooter experience to PS3 owners, and it delivers as it should. The game is set in various areas in Europe. There is an alien invasion that is slowly taking over the human race; steadily infecting, and experimenting with mankind, they are the main threat that is running amok, and it's up to you (who else would it be?) to stop them. The game, as a first person shooter, brings gun toting, and using the environment and whatever you can find as a shield to the table. You'll face off against unique, and numerous species of the 'Chimera' and will fight both with any remaining soldier survivors, or on your lonesome. As a game from insomniac, you can expect to use a wide range of cool weapons with crazy abilities, and even crazier secondary fire. There are many different environments you will traverse, which span from indoor and out door environments and alien strongholds. You'll also take control of vehicles once in a while . The online multiplayer is pretty good, with modes you'd expect from your typical first person shooter. The twist is that you can play as either humans, or Chimera. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses, so this brings a little bit of depth to the online gameplay. Beating the campaign mode will unlock access to new weapons, and the ability to dual wield weapons, so the amount of content in Resistance isn't shallow. A great first person shooter, and a great launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man is a PS3 game to play.

RFM is a decent shooter, but to be honest, I was expecting more from this title. It is not bad, it is simply lacking oomph...
First, the cutscenes: the storey is told while you watch some picture on the screen between the stages. That is not the best way to immerse the player in my view.
Second, the weapons are alright, but nothing feels outstanding or new: I mean you have the standard SMG, shotgun, handgun and an alien SMG... There could have been some improvements or else there. Regarding the weapons, one of the main problem I have is with the alien SMG, this one is useless from a certain distance, yet the enemy can hit you fairly well using the same weapon in the same situation...frustrating.
There are some good moment, like when you play co-op with bots and such. Driving vehicles is fun too. The concept of 4 levels of rechargeable life is great too.
The game took me about 8-10h to complete; not exactly long.
My advice is this: if you have not picked-up Call of Duty 4 or the Orange Box, get one of those (or both) before this title.
If you played them and you are looking for an average shooter, pick this $30 title up...

Resistance is a 1st person shooter for the ps3 that just falls short of amazing. The year is 1951 and half the world has been taken over an alien race called the chimera. You play as sergeant hale who is sent to Europe to help rebel against the chimera. Unlike most 1st person shooters you will find yourself wandering what's left of Europe alone. This makes for some tense moments that really get your blood pumping and your heart thumping fast enough for a heart attack. And with plenty of cool gun battles and an added bonus of some fun vehicle levels, the story is a blast to play. And with challenges and unlockable guns there is reason to play the game over once or twice. But the game does fall short in some areas. The game feel dragged on a little too long and with always being alone it starts to get repetitive. There is online but I wish they had better maps and some vehicles. But with plenty of ribbons, medals and ranks to earn it keeps you playing for a long time. oh and add .5 total score don't know how to do haves so it gets 4.5

this is a good first person shooter, don' t really see all the hype but i guess thts why its hype right. a little herky jerky on the controls, decent graphics but nothing compared to gears of war. still dont understand why sony just cant make all games in 1080p i think that would have helped. multi player was just ok for me controlled very similar to unreal or quake a little fast and furious for my taste but a lot of people like that kind of control.

When I first got this game with my PS3 I thought it wouldn't be good at all. I gave it a try with my friend on 2 player and you know what? I ended up playing the game all day. Maybe the graphics could have beem better but this game is still one of the best PS3 game out right now.
Great.

I spent countless hours playing Soldier of Fortune 1 and 2, endless sessions of Goldeneye, but after that, FPS's stayed out of my collection. Then I went and bought a PS3, with Resistance. At first I was kind of pissed that Resistance was the only real good choice I had, damn I'm glad I was wrong. Multiplayer was always my reason for playing a FPS, but Resistance upped the ante on it's campaign. Everything about the campaign is great, the pace is perfect. The beginning of the game sets the bar, you will die a lot at first, but once you get a feel for your opponents guns and your own, you will develop a method to killing hundreds of body snatching, alien jerks, and what better way to do that then with their own crazy weapons? I've beaten the campaign at least 10 times and I'm willing to do it once or twice more. The online for this game really threw some gas on the fire. There are tons of customization choices, from room size, weapon restrictions, one hit kill, infinite ammo etc. Ever play a 15 on 15 game dying every time something hit you, having countless grenades dropped on you? It gets intense. The sequel is coming out shortly, and I just wanted to put out how fun this game really is.
Great game but stick with Halo for now

Resistance: Fall of Man was the best PS3 launch game, but it's a little aged compared to more modern games. The single-player campaign is surprisingly well-plotted, and multiplayer is addictive. But the so-so graphics and over-the-top guns make the game seem a little disjointed. Resistance 2 is looking tight, though, so it's probably worth going back to at least try out the first game.
best game for PS3... so far
