This game was alot like GTA IV for me, the missions you had to do were fun, the sand box mode is great if you really don't have anything to play so you can just go around and kill people with your Pump Action Shotgun and Tommy Gun, and the good thing about this game is that even though your done with the missions your never done, you got buisnesses to exort, exucation to get, warehouses to take down and the achievements to earn, so really you are never done. I cant wait for two, i saw something on it and it looks likes GTA: Miami Vice.

A Worthy Game Adaptation

Pros Cons
Awesome audio Ugly visuals
Engaging story Repetitive gameplay
Addictive gameplay

Let me just say that as a huge fan of The Godfather Trilogy, this game is very true to the film. I was very impressed that EA got every voice and likeness from the film (with the glaring exception of Al Pacino as Micheal) and managed to take only small liberties with the plot of the film in order to make a game out of it. I also believe this was Marlon Brando's final appearance before his death. Anyways, the setting and mood of the film are here, and it really feels like The Godfather. Gameplay-wise, you play as an original character and work your way up the ranks in the Corleone family by doing jobs for the family in a very GTA- fashion. Many of the missions you will do are the behind-the-scenes dirtywork for memorable scenes in the movie, such as placing the horse's head in the film director's sheets. As far as GTA-clones go, this is a pretty good game but it takes some time and patience to learn and appreciate the clunky controls. In addition to working your way through the story missions, there are numerous businesses and rackets that are fun to take control of, but they get repetitive. All-in-all I enjoyed this game, but I wouldn't really recommend it for those who are not fans of the film.

Entertaining Game....For a while at least

I just got a copy of The Godfather and have been playing it for the past week. Over all he game is a lot of fun. It's a decent GTA rip with a nice Mafia spin. The controls aren't as tight as say, Crackdown, but over all the game is a lot of fun. My only concern is how quickly I'm going to tire of it. Like all open world games, it can get repetitive. So far though it's given me about 15 good hours and I'm pretty sure I'll get at least that out of it again. Not a bad pick up if you can get a deal on it.

An offer you should refuse

Some games that are made after movies i don't really have much care for like Shrek, TMNT, Pirates of the caribbean,Transformers etc, because they should just be simply left in the theater. But for the Godfather,a classic movie, they made this game the best that they could in terms of gameplay. It has a "GTA" sandbox style gameplay allowing you to travel around an open-world map taking over rival family territory. While doing this you perform three different missions for the family such as Favors, Hits, And storyline missions. With a handful of side activities such as business extorting. But as you complete the missions you progressively get higher ranks in the family with the ultimate goal of being the NYC Don. With all that said, game is decent in graphics but the gameplay gets very repetive especially if you play alot of open-world games (Crackdown, Just Cause, Oblivion, Saints Row).Other flaws would include a crappy fighting system and the selection of cars arent very good with only 5 differnt to choose from but I can understand that seeing that this game is based in the 1940s. I wouldnt suggest gettin this game unless you really liked the movie like me.

it's an offer you can't refuse

i really liked this game. the controls were wierd at first, but it becomes second nature. i just wish there was more diversity between the cars. there are only like, 5 different cars in the game, there are just hundreds of them.

Don't have to look forward... but no shame in doing so

If you have the regular Xbox version, then there really isn't anything new here that his game has to offer. But nevertheless, you want the looks, it's damn fine here. The Godfather's events all revolve around the movie as you are the main character who sort of does the side story of things. As ironic as it may sound, it all comes together as you play on.

The game gives you the freedom to do whatever you want. From jacking cars to killing random people on the streets. But one thing that is very interesting here is the ability to "offer" protection to people in butcher shops, hotels and many more. This is sort of a side quest type thing, but it helps you earn money. Some of these people will refuse to accept your offer, but that's where the fun is. You can beat them down until they accept, and this comes in many forms too. You can just keep banging their head on the table, shoot them or just try choking them to death. Many options here as far as trying to convince them goes.

The controls are easily configurated and it can easily be mastered in a matter of a half an hour of playing. The thing that you might have trouble with is the strangling of your opponents. Clicking the thumbsticks will become second nature though sooner or later. The grapics are looking good, but only a notch better than those on the Xbox. As I said, that's about the only thing "better" on the 360.

Now, if you are into cheating, this might not be a big deal, but they took out the money cheat. How can you make easy money then? By paying Xbox Live marketplace points to get them. And no, you can't keep buying them over and over. Once you buy them, that's it. This is also held true for Level 4 weapons. So if you think this is a rip-off, feel free to just stick with the last-gen The Godfather game.

Overall, the game is pretty damn good. Movie-based game? Worried? Don't be. This game won't blow you away like Riddick did for FPS fans. But it's good enough to shell out the money for.

Love it or I have some cement shoes for you!!

I cannot put to words how much I love this game. I have played it on the PC and the 360 version exceeds that!! The game has you start off as a lowley gangster doing missions for the members of the Corlione family. The greatest thing about this game is that it follows the movies but it weaves you into it. Hard to explain. You dont play as a character from the movies but it is like you are written into the storyline. Done real well. The graphics are the best of any sandbox game to date right on par if not a little better than Saints Row. The game controls nicely.

I strongly recomend this game and if you are a Godfather fan, as I am, You NEED to have this game!!
