Dull

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Not enough content

I wanted this game to be all it promised to be but was totally disappointed, im not going to complain about the aiming system or cover system i expected them to be ropey my complaint is with the total lack of any imaginative game play or anything to do outside of the story mode, sure i could ride around killing cops and raping hookers and thats fun for a while but what about when thats done? and didn't i have to do that with the last three GTA's shouldn't rock star by now have come up with something.
My two star rating then is not a rating of the games engine or its play it is a rating of the execution.

Not the best.

Pros Cons
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
  Repetitive gameplay
  Lousy camera/viewpoint

Ok everyone knows this game, and the series. This series is one of those games anyone wants to play, even the biggest game haters, love shooting rockets at a cop's cars, and that's what makes every GTA game awesome, however this one is lacking were it should be surpassing. The story is good, it's very in depth, but it's no different then previous ones, there's no surprise there, yet character customization is a huge step back compared to San Andreas. First thing I was hoping for was the ability to work out, making your character stronger, faster, slower, however you wanted to make him. That's gone and I was disappointed. There's a lot of things that I like though, something I don't hear many people talking about so I want to give it some recognition. The sixaxis controller in GTA4, can be quite fun. There I said it. I like how if I flick my controller upward, it reloads, I also like how I can put the final touches on a turn with the controller, but I keep that feature off. The cover system is great, and the quick head shot feature is so handy. I'm giving this game a fairly low score because it could not own up to it's hype, and it did nothing to be called "next gen" other than purdy grafix. I never got off the first city, this game just couldn't cut it for me.

Good but disappointing in ways

Pros Cons
Loads of content Doesn't live up to expectations
Just plain fun Terrible multiplayer

It's hard for a game like Grand Theft Auto IV. The earlier GTA games were so innovative and so special that creating even a decent follow-up must have been difficult. The good news is that GTA IV is well worth playing for series fanatics -- the graphics, controls, and story have all received noticeable upgrades. The bad news is that the game just isn't as comprehensive and deep as its predecessors. The storytelling is the same Sopranos imitations you've heard in much lesser games, and the missions variety is alarmingly slim. I found this to be the most disappointing GTA game since GTA III, but it's still well worth playing (just don't pay full price!).

GTA IV

Pros Cons
Engaging story
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Just plain fun

I've played GTA on both the PS3 and the 360 and did not see much of a difference between the two, except for the six axis controls in this version (which made the game a lot harder in my opinion). It is one of my favorite next-gen games. The driving system is fantastic. You can actually feel the difference between each type of car. The combat is intense and the story is very engaging. My only complaints are that the story dies at the end of the game and that the targeting system is extremely frustrating. But even with those two rather large flaws I still love this game. It feels like you are playing a movie.

Completed GTA4 and have played online extensively.

pI really thought this game was overhyped. Now I still have given it a 4 but all those 100's given out by websites was pretty stupid. The game has moments of frustrating controls, the game has framerate hiccups especially off the start and the ending IMO is very bland. Niko is still a really cool character and shows off some very human instincts and emotions which make you, while your playing, feel as if you are Niko. The games length is respectable, and it's online has added lots of hours of gameplay. I play online quite a bit and the only problem I have is the re-spawn. Most of the games are really fun, but Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch is all I usually play. Overall I would give it an 8/10. It is a welcome addition to the GTA family and probably one of the best. But it didnt add enough innovation to be given all these perfect scores and reviews./p pGraphics-3.5/5: Sometimes I am playing and I speechless. The game looks great, the city looks alive and you actually feel bad when you attack a harmless person. But the framerate problems, popups and bland textures in some parts kill it for me./p pControls-4/5: Its better than the older GTA's, lets just say that. The auto aim feature can be frustrating/p pSound-5/5: It sounds like a real metropolis, the radio's are awesome. The tv shows made me laugh and I actually have sat there watching them for longggg periods of time.Whoever picked all those songs from the different genres really knew good music./p pOverall-4/5:Great game, love how the guy is serbian, music is awesome, some points I felt I was really in a huge city as an immigrant. But it still didnt have that final BANG I was waiting for while playing. Missions could get repetitive and I didnt like being peoples bitch off the first 20% of the game.

its better then i even thought

this series is one of the bests and its proves it again with this game. They could of made the main story line longer but none the less still a great game

best in show

GTA IV is definitely the best in series, but on top of that the graphics are clean and sharp, gameplay is nearly perfected, the new physics and camera are great, and weeks of gameplay guaranteed

Gorgeous in full 1080p

This is the deepest, most complex installment in the world of GTA. There are so many things under the surface to see and get hands on with in this game. My only complaint is that it is "too real" when driving, but really can't complain about that because it just takes some finesse and getting used to. While running at full 1080p there is some slight frame stuttering, but I only noticed it happen for a second, and only about 5 times after having played for about 15-25 hours since purchase.

wow!

Grand Theft Auto IV does the deal for the PS3. By doing all the missions on the game, it would take about a year to beat the game. Sure the other Grand theft Auto series may of been in the past, but this game will bring back the old times.
