Heavenly Nariko

Pros Cons
Just plain fun Not enough content
Engaging story Lousy camera/viewpoint
Amazing visuals Repetitive gameplay
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
Epic boss fights

I had higher hopes for Heavenly Sword. The graphics are amazing, but sooner rather than later, it just gets to where you are going through the motions. I do however love the levels where you can guide arrows and cannon balls, etc. Other than that, this game only barely saves with me due to the lovely Nariko, who sounds strangely like Cate Blanchett, and the great voice/motion capture actor Andy Serkis. Overall there isn't much to the game though. I like it but I won't recommend buying it. I suggest you rent it. You can beat it before it's due back anyhow.

Good But Boring!

Pros Cons
Tight controls It's boooring
Amazing visuals
Intense action

So I borrow "Heavenly Sword" from my friend, and he made it seem to be a classic, but when I first played it I thought wow this is kinda badass, but when I reviewed it I notice it was a god of war ripoff with cool ass visuals. I hated the boss fights it was kinda of boring, enemies take to long to die, and it seems they tried to hard to make her a bad ass.

Awesome game but a mere tide-me-over until God of War III.

Pros Cons
Tight controls Poor storytelling
Intense action Repetitive gameplay

This game goes into the category of hack-n-slash action games, a category that has been dominated by the GoW series. But what makes this stand out from GoW is the weapon and the massive amount of enemies. Hundreds upon hundreds of foot soldiers are squeezed in the screen. The weapon is fantastic too. The ability to instantly switch it to a different mode allows for some eye-popping combos and devastating moves. Overall, this is a must own for any fans of the GoW series.

Great game...fun while it lasts.

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Not enough content
Tight controls
Amazing visuals
Engaging story

Heavenly Sword for the PS3 was a game that was much anticipated because it was new, and had some cool concepts to the combat. Also, it had very smooth and realistic facial animations and great detail. However, did the game live up to the hype? Well in most ways, yes, but the game has a crucial flaw that was overlooked by some, but not others. The game is an action game similar to God of War. In fact, the game developers tell us that God of War brought this game's inspiration, and it is evident when you notice the combat and quick-time events that appear on screen. There is even a God of War armor easter egg in the game, so don't think that the game's developers just ripped the idea without acknowledgment. The story is intriguing, the characters and bosses fit the mood of the game, and the game gives you a sense of ambiguity. To elaborate, the game gives you hints of what kind of era you are in, but then when you look around you, you can't really put a pin on where you are. That also gives the game a unique atmosphere. The combat is good, as you will fight enormous hordes of enemies, hundreds and thousands at a time. The only thing that pull this game down is the fact that it is short. The game is about 4 hours long. You can argue that by playing it again on a harder difficulty, and just messing around, it is a decent length. However, there are others who will also argue that for 60 bucks(at the time) it's better as a rent. I for one, feel that the game is a great title for the PS3, and even if it is pretty brief, it is a great experience.

Good but Could Have Been Awesome

Pros Cons
Just plain fun Not enough content
Epic boss fights Doesn't live up to expectations
Engaging story
Awesome audio
Amazing visuals
Intense action

Heavenly Sword is a good game but just falls short of amazing. The game has superb graphics and great audio. Story is fantastic and loaded with intense action and the gameplay is tremendously fun. Once you have the Heavenly Sword, you possess three fighting speed, power, and ranged. Each has an enormous amount of combos which you use to take down enemies and bosses. The bosses in Heavenly Sword are a thrill to fight, each of them skilled in one of the three The major factor that brings Heavenly Sword down is that the game is REALLY short. It only took me five hours to beat the whole thing. Still, despite that severe flaw, Heavenly Sword is a great game, it just didn't live up to expectations by being so short.

Bought with PS3

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Not enough content
Engaging story Unresponsive controls
Amazing visuals
Intense action

I bought this game with my PS3 and loved it. I played through it in a couple of days breaking in my new system. The controls threw me off for a few levels, but part of that might have been the change from my Xbox 360 control scheme that I was already familiar with. Some of the dialogue gets to be extremely cheesy, but it's easy to look past. The action and adrenaline rush in this game is enough to keep you hooked.

If a game came along one of these day with a fun weapon system, a story like no other , and an army to hack down, heavenly sword is your game choice. Who can say swinging projectiles never hurt, but with that thign in mind, just looking at the visuals will bruise you. With realistics features and intense action i reconmend this game to any hack and slash fan who by chance find this unique in its own great way.

Decent Sword

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Repetitive gameplay
Tight controls Doesn't live up to expectations
Innovative concepts
Engaging story
Amazing visuals
Intense action

You'd be a heavenly fool to pass up playing this title. It possesses a surprisingly amount of depth, and you'll easily be swept up in Nariko and Kai's quest to stop the evil King Bohan's goal to obtain the Heavenly Sword and use its frightening power for his own selfish ambitions.

Although this game was a bit short, plenty of engaging combat is still to be had. Use of the SIXAXIS is innovative and enjoyable, granting the ability to guide thrown objects and Kai's arrows with a tilt of the controller. The endless amount of action was intense throughout and keeps you wanting more after each squabble. Though repetitive, the gorgeous graphics and physics will ensure you remain entertained and enthralled. Epic battles with literally thousands of soldiers on the field at a time are always a blast to slaughter your way through; whether it's through means of utilizing a cannon, or with the Heavenly Sword in hand.

Definitely a rental, since it really didn't live up to everyone's full expectations, but if your love of the action genre is greater than most, this may serve as a worthy purchase for you.
