Awesome audio Unresponsive controls
Epic boss fights

Fantastic multiplayer

I guess this is an obvious review, everyone is saying how great it is and stuff like that.

The gameplay is great, the story is cool but bad, it really just doesn't tell too much of a story, you know? But the graphics are great, the multiplayer is great, but the controls, the damn controls aren't too good, but easy to live with.

My opinion?
This more deserves a 4.5 out of 5 because of the flaws, but I'm giving a 5 out of 5 and a salute to Guerilla games.

I'm a PS3 fanboy, so anyone that thinks my review will be biased because of this, just stop reading now. Okay, to all ps3 owners and fanboys, killzone 2 is an exclusive to be proud of. I'll start with the one con. The controls take time to getting used to. If you play long enough then you will have enough experience to know how to aim, because the aiming is a little laggy. Not a big enough con to shoot this game down. Now the pros. The graphics on this game should go without saying that they're some of the best graphis to date. The audio makes you feel like you're Sev, especially with surround sound. I'll be honest, when i first played online, i didn't really enjoy it. After a while it grew on me, and now, I'm a general. That shows how good the multiplayer is and how addictive the game is. I've heard a lot of people complain about the length of the game. Those same people never complained about Call of Duty World at War. That said, Killzone 2's campaign is a bit longer than CoD WaW. The story was neither good nor bad. For people that have beat the game, read the rest. For those that haven't, consider this your spoiler alert.

This games story has some parts that are based on WWII. Scolar Visari represents Hitler, and those helghan symbols represent the Nazi insignias. After you beat Radec, you see Radec kill him self. Then when you walk into the hallway, you see many helghan soldiers that commited suicide. Well, when Hitler knew that he would lose the war, he and high ranking officials commited suicide. BIG resemblance.

Ummm

I thought Killzone 2 was a good game. But that's it. good.
For all the hype that came with it I was expecting something more.
On the one hand it had mind blowing graphics and plenty of action.
But their was not much of a story and overall i felt it lacked substance.
Killzone 2 lacked something overall.
Maybe I am alone in this, but they could have done more.
Maybe with weapon selection or diversity in the levels. Many of the levels felt the same.
It was a good game and visually it was stunning.

New update ruined the multiplayer

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Doesn't live up to expectations
Intense action Unresponsive controls
Innovative concepts Terrible multiplayer

I really wanted to believe the hype and love this game. I am an online FPS addict. I get completely annoyed by the terrible lag, and imprecise floaty gun aim. Also, the stats you see in the game do not reflect your actual kills and deaths, butt also count bots destroyed in the same stats as kills. It's annoying to play a game and see 18 kills 14 deaths, then you realize you went around destroying 9 bots, and you had a worse game than you were initially told. Guerrilla implemented a fix and now all the guns have a kind of "auto lock on" that makes the multiplayer game impossible when you are facing players who rely on this crutch. Also
Rent it to see if you like it, then decide. don't believe the overly glowing reviews if you want to save yourself some frustration.

It isn't anything special offline, but online it shines brightly

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Poor storytelling
Awesome audio Doesn't live up to expectations
Intense action Unresponsive controls
Fantastic multiplayer
Just plain fun

After years of hype and high expectations Killzone 2 finally releases, it's the game the the first one was supposed to be but it fails to make any splash story wise or gameplay wise, it's another good FPS with gorgeous graphics and great online, nothing more.
The game begins greatly with Visari giving a rousing speech that impressed me ( GREAT voice acting ) and the game starts with ISA invading the Helgast and the intense combat and situations start. So far so good, but along the line the game loses steam story wise, with the story driving you to certain locations but it never really made me emotionally connect with any of the characters ( there are key exceptions but there were too few of them) which makes the game feel kind of dry and plain, seeing that you are facing against waves of the Helgast, make no mistake, this game is really fun, but it just isn't as amazing as it was supposed to be. The best part of this game is the atmosphere, people dying all around you ( in cutscenes and in gameplay) explosions everywhere and etc. Though the climax is pretty good, it really draws you in, here's hoping that they continue the story shortly.
The combat is great, it feels like a more intense rainbow six game, you will need to fight smartly, suing cover, and tactics, run and gun enthusiast will die... a LOT, specially on the harder levels. The cover system is sort of sketchy, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but it's a good addition to the game.
Graphics: now this one is a looker, smoke from explosions and rounds hitting stuff clouds your views, gusts of wind and fog realistically pass along the combat zones clouding your view, great stuff. Character models look great and the amazing physics system makes you marvel at the carnage you and your enemies cause, THE best physics i have ever seen yet. The way the screen turns almost black and gray when you're dying makes it almost as if you were dying for real. 5.0
Sound: War is noisy indeed, weapons fire, the screams of allies, and enemies alike, explosions, etc., all immersed me greatly into the combat. 5.0
Controls: The aiming is a tad loose, which makes aiming sort of annoying at first, but after you get used to it, it gets better, i just wished it had tighter controls. 4.25
If the game had no online the fun factor would be 4.25, seeing that it's single player campaign is nothing special though fun, really fun, but thankfully that's not the case.
Online: It's pretty amazing, it's addictive as hell, the ribbons you unlock ( for certain achievements like lots of headshots, being the guy that kills more people in a match etc.) give you special abilities, such as extra points, the classes are great ( except for the extremely over powered assault class) are greatly balanced and are tailored for teamwork, and each class has special abilities, plus a secondary badge to unlock after certain requirements are met. The game looks great online and there's lag but not as bad as other games, i would say that an 80 percent of the time i played with minimal lag. Plus the community is pretty good, with honor ranks given to the best weekly players, clans and etc.
In short, this game shines Online, with great features and addicting gameplay, this game would have been so much better if it had a much better offline campaign, it's not bad, it's just not special.
Fun Factor WITH online: 5.0

Right up there with Resistance, Halo and Gears!!

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Repetitive gameplay
Awesome audio
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Innovative concepts
Fantastic multiplayer
Just plain fun

This game is the defining PS3 shooter. It's as good maybe better than Resistance 2, Halo, Gears, COD, etc. The graphics are nearly MGS4 quality. The audio is great, the action is non-stop, and tight controls tops everything off. The only complaints I have about this is the storytelling is no different than any FPS, like any FPS the gameplay can get repetitive, and there is some slight slow down when loading up new sections. Well worth the $$ though!!

More like Killzown 2

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Poor storytelling
Intense action Doesn't live up to expectations
Just plain fun

Killzone 2 has raised the bar for graphics. This game has fantastic visuals and left me awestruck, the destructible environment was also a nice plus, but the game did not live up to the E3 video expectations. A new patch was released fixing the "unresponsive controls", however some guns are meant to be more 'heavy' than others still.

Now, starting with the single-player, it wasn't all too great. The story was very bland. However, it had hardcore action throughout most of the game, and this made the game shear fun, but with a forgettable story. The lack of co-op single player was also disappointing.

However, the multiplayer is very well made for the FPS genre.
The game has a medal "badge"/ experience leveling system. You get experience by killing enemy players, completing objectives, etc. Experience, generally, allows you to rank up, get new guns, classes and unlock these things called badges. You achieve these badges, i.e healing teammates 'x' amount of times via medic. Once you've done this you unlock the medic's 2nd ability. This can be done through other badges for other classes. However I am not trying to get too in depth, in short there are 2 forms of leveling, something few shooters offer, something to accomplish for yourself.
Also, during a battle, the game will switch game modes mid-game play without a intermission. Which always brings something fresh to the table.

My opinion is a 4/5.

Great game.

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals

First of all the game is beautiful, some of the best visuals that i have seen so far, everything is very detailed, its got great lighting its got it all.And none of it falls short during any of the intense gameplay and when i say intense i mean it.This game is pure action from start to finish.
This is not your average run n gun,you will need tactics and use cover to your advantage because the A.I sure does and if you don't you will be restarting at checkpoints which are not that unforgiving.Controls, well i like the weighty feel (after the patch) I got use to it pretty quick and had no problems.
The multiplayer is another reason this game is great. Its got most standard modes like capture the flag, deathmatch, etc... just named differently and then there's the mode where you play all 5 game types in a row with no intermission thats where the fun is to be had.Its got a good ranking system similar to Call Of Duty. Bottom line if you own a ps3 and even casually play FPS's buy this game.
