Here we go.....this is it.....are you ready? Build up your devil trigger, cock your guns, rev your Red Queen, raise Pandora's disaster gauge, and above all.....go in with >!
Devil May Cry 4 is the newest chapter in the series, and also the first to go HD. The previous titles featured Dante as the star of the show, but this time around, newcomer Nero has stolen the spotlight. That's right, everyone! Capcom pulled a MGS2. You'd think that means the game would be shoddy with Dante out of the picture for a good portion of the time, and if you did, you're wrong.
While similar to Dante regarding main gameplay mechanics, Nero boasts his own arsenal of numerous attacks and other abilities, making him quite unique with that alone. Add in his Devil Bringer (his demonic arm), and you have one hell of a fun character to fight with!
With the Devil Bringer, you can reach out and pull in smaller demons, and pull yourself closer to larger ones. You can also use it to snatch distant or blocked off items. Useful attacks you'll find yourself using a lot are the various throws performed with his devil arm (the throw varies with each demon). Throwing is a great way to raise the combo meter and deal a considerable amount of damage, and also serves as an extremely powerful attack against bosses (when the opportunity presents itself). Once the ability is acquired, he can grab and hold small demons and use them as a shield. How long you can hold them depends on the demon.
The sword Nero wields, dubbed "Red Queen," possesses the revving function of a motorcycle, increasing the sword's attacking power once charged. Along with his only melee weapon, he carries with him his only firearm, "Blue Rose," a double-barreled handgun capable of firing charged explosive shots (when upgraded).
Dante is indeed playable (for approximately 40% of the game), and also has plenty of tricks up his own sleeves (some being literally tricks).
Brought over from DMC3 are Dante's " "Trickster," "Swordmaster," "Gunslinger," and "Royal Guard." Unlike in DMC3, you always have all your equipped and are free to switch between them with a press of a button (the D-Pad's buttons to be precise).
From the beginning as Dante, you start with his trusty "Rebellion" sword, "Ebony & Ivory" (handguns), and "Coyote-A" (shotgun). As you progress, you'll obtain "Gilgamesh," a hand-to-hand melee weapon similar to "Ifrit" (DMC1) and "Beowulf" (DMC3), and an armament named "Lucifer," which throws out floating energy swords that pierce enemies and explode when detonated.
Quite possibly the most intriguing projectile weapon ever conceived in a game is "Pandora." This suitcase of tricks has 666 different forms to morph into, though only a handful can be used by Dante in the game. I won't spoil what you can do with it, for it's better to let you discover all it's capable of on your own, and believe me, you'll love it... ;)
Like with his all of Dante's weapons are always with him and can be switched on the fly by pressing L2 and R2.
One welcomed addition to the game are achievements (available in both the PS3 and 360 versions). You can share the achievements you've unlocked with your friends who also play DMC4, but that's all there is regarding online functionality, which is expected anyways with any single-player game.
The one and only downside is the character switching when you reach the two appropriate missions. As you become comfortable with Nero's/Dante's combos, abilities and suddenly changing to Dante/Nero will throw your groove off, and will take a little time to adjust accordingly.
So, there you have it! DMC4 is a definite must buy for any action fan and gamers in general who just love to kick demon ass. If you liked the previous titles, there's no reason you wouldn't like this one, as well. Stylish action at its finest...

One of the best Devil May Cry games. Nero adds new intrigue to the universe. New moves using the Devil Arm helps bring in huge combos. Plus, how can you not like a game where you fight and play as Dante? Secret missions are designed for specific characters, making them difficult or impossible depending on who's in there. This game should be in the PS3 library whether you are a fan or new to the series. Cutscenes tie everything together, some are cheesy, most are informative and funny.

Devil May Cry fans know what they expect from the action series: they look for fast paced action sequences that require solid timing instead of button mashing. They expect large scale battles with insane bosses and hordes of monsters that barely give the player a second to breath. They also expect characters to take the dangerous settings lightly, with a large dose of sarcasm and a snarky outlook towards the supernatural surroundings they find themselves in. Well, DMC fans, take heart: Devil May Cry 4, the latest chapter in the series and the first true sequel in the Devil May Cry chronology maintains all of these trademarks while showcasing the power of the PS3 fairly well. That is, for the most part.DMC4 is the most outstnding DMC game ever. The grafic are a fine cut dispalying that the ps3 can showcase old game remake it and make it to look sick. Now people get this game now.

This game is beautiful. Its a live movie you get to play...and by play I mean kick everyones ass. I have never played DMC before so this review is just for this version, but as a standalone I followed the sorry without an issue. The controls are tight, the upgrades are just sick and Dante is up there with Kratos on the badass meter. I don't know what else to say here. If you like action games and have enjoyed this series or games like GOW then this is a must own for the system. I am going to say its close to R&C in terms of all time favorites. Great job Capcom!

Devil May Cry 4 is an awesome blend of fast paced action and great cinematic cutscenes. From the time you start off there is nothing but intense action. DMC4 gives you the option of playing 2 different difficulty settings from the beginning and it gives you the option of playing in automatic which gives you access to pulling off difficult combos just by continuing to press the buttons. So it pretty much allows every different skill of player to play and choose their difficulty setting. The only real drawback is the story, just like in previous Devil May Cry games although is great it leaves much to be desired and you never really find out to much of the new character's orgins. Other than that the game is great, a definite buy if you have a fever for some action.

I read all the online reviews and recently bought the game i have never really played a game in the series but i am glad i picked this title up the controls are tight and the graphics are superb the story is good but obviously Japanese witch is not a problem because the Japanese know how to make a game it is fun to string together big combos and fun to upgrade your character who is a bad ass with a powerful arm the arm is capable of doing many different things to destroy demons
