Yeah, that's a pretty big title to give a game. I have played every single Metal Gear game. I have played this game 5 times now, and every-time I was blown away at how detailed this game is. Engaging the story was, and the unforgettable boss battles. The pacing is phenomenal, never gets stale or boring. You play in so many different locales, and each one is crafted beautifully. Tight controls, some of the best ever since RE4, which has the best in the biz. Thee best graphics I have ever laid eyes on. What else can I say. What a treat it is to be able to play an amazing game like this. If you don't have a PS3, then this game is the perfect reason to get it. i was never gonna get a PS3. I only got it cus of this game. Its that great.

Metal gear solid is the greatist metal gear game in the series. The epic saga of snake has ended with a bigger boom than 1500 sticks of tnt wrapped in 5 tons of c4 and then a fuse lit by Chuck Norris! This game is EPIC. Now let's get down to buisiness. THE STORY: The story has to be the best story ive seen on a video game ever. If you have ever played a metal gear game than you will know that theres no such thing as a bad metal gear solid game. The story in mgs4 follows the story of old snake who has aged very quikly do to his cloneing but that doesn't stop snake. If you know anything about snake than you'll know that he's the man that never quit's no matter how tough thing's get. Mgs4 answers alot of questions that the other metal gear solid games never did and the opening of these closed doors leads to a better understanding of snakes universe, and in turn help's you enjoy the game even more. THE GAMEPLAY: The gameplay in mgs4 is absoulutley outstanding. I want you to do somthing before you play the game, i want you to think about metal gear solid's combat and completely forget about it. This is the metal gear that you never saw coming, they have switched the fighting machanic around completely but in the best way possible. Instead of the regular far sighted shooting that you all know they have brought the camera into an over the shoulder view so you can aim better. It just feels so natural to the way the game plays that it feels like the over the shoulder view has been with us in the metal gear series this whole time. THE GRAPHICS: The graphics are amazing. When your playing a game like resistence or legendary everything is a bit to polished that leads to somthing that i call the plado affect. The plado effect is when a game is so polished that it looks almost like everything is made out of ice everything is so smooth that it looks like plado. But in mgs4 the plado effect is gone. The feeling and the overall atmosphere of the game setting feels dirty and gritty. But that makes the game just that much more realistic.
THE WEAPONS: The weapons span from knifes to pistols to machine guns and all the way to rocket launchers and your bare hands. The weapon custimization is also very very in depth. Think call of duty4 meet's socom and has a baby. THE ITEMS: The list of items goes on forever and my favorite item is the i-pod thats right you heard me the i-pod. Hey, snake has to listen to some good old music somtimes to ya know. Now that you get the basic idea of what mgs4 has evolved to i hope that you'll please consider buying metal gear solid 4. If you own a ps3 than this should be in your top three games to buy. Now go out there and have gargantuan amounts of fun.

I used to think that there were only three truly amazing games-BioShock,Call of Duty 4, and Half-Life 2-but any doubts about Koijima not being an amazing person was immediatly shot down the moment i popped this game in. the PS3 had few decent games before this -Uncharted, Resistance- but this game single-handedly brings the PS3 back from suckyness. Buy this game.

Since its introduction on the Playstation, and with each sequel, the Metal Gear Solid series has marked its place in history as something completely innovative and truly unique. Whether you love or hate the storyline, there is no denying that Hideo Kojima has mastered the art of Game Design. But between greatly evolving characters, a complex story, and a gameplay system that borders on perfect, Metal Gear Solid 4 (the best in the series) stands alone as one of the very few games that is truly art. Be it Kojima's take at cinematography and narrative or the gameplay elements he (and his team) incorporate, one thing is certain, this game portrays a kind of love that is seldom seen in Game Development.

This game is not just for the fans, or the curious either. It is for anyone who enjoys a great story. From Snake's first appearance as an aging, almost defeated war veteran to his final encounter with Big Boss, MGS4 has what most games lack. It truly has heart. The game has a soul, and it demands your love and attention. Do not fear the extended cut scenes that many despised. They are very entertaining and help seal many of the loose loops in the series' story. Not only that, they also add to the overall feel of a cinematographic experience, what Hideo Kojima envisioned for his game. As a gamer, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Even if you skip the cut scenes, you will be treated to one of the best gaming experiences of all time.

This is one of those games that when you start you can't stop. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best Metal Gear ever made, with awesome everything and barely any problems. And this isn't just a stealth game. There are at least 2+ ways to complete every situation. This game is always awesome and if you own a PS3, buy this game! It's worth every penny!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final chapter in the life of Solid Snake. Now old and (somewhat) decrepit, Snake relies on the help of old allies as well as new ones.

STORY: With only a short time to live as the game opens, Snake must chase down and assassinate Liquid Snake, who now seeks to control nanomachines in what he calls "Guns of The Patriots." I won't get into detail as to how many allies and enemies return, but I will say that Meryl's return with her unit is a prominent factor. She links up to her unit using SOP, or Sons of the Patriots. In doing so, she can communicate and monitor their bodily functions as well as "be each other's eyes." Snake goes global and even returns to a familiar place in order to stop Liquid Snake (or Liquid Ocelot, if you will). The cutscenes are the longest I remember from any game, but it's very immersive and very detailed. Old fans of MGS games should have no problem sitting through the story.

GAMEPLAY & GRAPHICS: MGS4's gameplay is incredibly solid. The configuration is different from previous games, but if anything, it's been made better. Snake now utilizes OctoCamo, a suit that allows him to blend into his environment. Don't be fooled, it isn't as easy as you'd like to believe. First of all, Octocamo is only effective at distances unless you have the mask to compliment it, but even then, you aren't guaranteed safety. It takes a lot of strategic ability to get through.
The graphics are among the best seen this generation thus far. It's apparent that this game took a lot of work to fulfill effectively. Truth is, the game is absolutely awesome on the visual front. You can see Snake's hair swishing in the wind with detailed textures. This is more of a comment regarding the physics, but if Snake steps on a grenade and he gets blown against the wall, he crashes into it realistically, sometimes even upside down. Epic. The boss battles are interesting, each with their own unique of taking them down with unique background stories.

SOUND: Unfortunately, to really appreciate the audio, you'll need a great surround sound system (7.1 preferred). With it, you can definitely hear the emphasis on the dark, melancholy theme the game portrays. Themes like "Old Snake" and "Love Theme" are solid evidence. Soundtrack aside (which overall is fantastic), if you have a great surround sound system with this game, you can literally hear the bullets whizzing through the speakers. Excellent sound quality, especially in the voice acting.

GRIPES: To me, MGS4 only has 2 visible shortcomings: The use of Konami IDs and constant installs. I really do wish the game had a single install, but it does so periodically throughout the game. I didn't mind too terribly much because the install screen was informative and it gave me time to theorize what would happen in the next act. Back to Konami IDs, they really dropped the ball with that. It doesn't serve as a set back for me since MGS4 is a single-player experience and anything else is a bonus. Also, this is small, but the Big Boss Emblem is much easier to get this time around, mainly because you can now use radar and

OVERALL: Metal Gear Solid 4 is a fantastic game and may easily be considered the greatest game of this generation; perhaps even last generation. I wouldn't call the multiplayer terrible; it is fun. It's just that the IDs are a hindrance. Now, the graphics, emotional expression, music, storyline, and gameplay all come together to truly emphasize this as Snake's final mission. Although Snake is a video game character, it is very easy to identify his pain. Once a great mercenary, when you play this game, you can definitely see just how mortal Snake really is. If you don't like games that may stir your emotions, MGS4 may not be for you. Otherwise, you do yourself the greatest injustice to overlook this wonderful, wonderful title.
