Adding a few weapons and a mission mode are what separates this fun and at times flustrating game from Ninja Gaiden. It offers brilliant and quick action. Its gorgeous visuals are rarely equaled on the Xbox. You can unleash of breathtaking moves on your foes. It offers a fearsome challenge to gamers. Story... there kind is no story... sort of. The story doesn't make sense. It includes going after a warrior for revenge and retrieving a sword he/it stole. The story does not fit together. The biggest weakness of the game is its camera. It is too low and does not shift to where Ryu, the hero, faces; you have to press a button for that. Enemies are often nearby and can't be seen because they are out of view.
Despite these drawbacks Ninja Gaiden Black is still a classic game.
Darker Ninja, not a sequel, but worth the price

Fans of the original may have been expecting a sequel, but BLACK wll have to satisfy them for now and it does exactly that. This game is nearly the same as the original Xbox version, but adds new weapons, enemies and content to the series. I managed to finish the game quickly on hard, but I had previous experience with the original game. The added bonus of Master Ninja mode which allows players to take on incredible fights outside of the main story also add for an already high quality title. Gamers who didn't own the original should buy this game over the original becuase of the added content, those who owned the original game will not be dissapointed forking the cash over for this one. It expands on everything that was great about the original and is well worth the price.
Ninja Gaiden owns you!

One of my few 5.0

It's hard, and it's ment to be. The graphics are impecible and the fighting system allow the player to manuver out of tight spots. The moves and combos are actually worth practicing and the storyline is not skimpy and rushed. Exploration is kept to a minimum, but for understandable reasons I believe. The various weapons gives a much welcomed variety and the missions are extremely challenging for those who wish to master the game. I didn't rate Ninja Gaiden, but it would get a 5.0 too. This is one game that rocks no matter what beef you have with it.
Remade to be better than the original. Is that possible?

It's true, this is better than 2004's Ninja Gaiden. If you have the original but haven't beaten it yet, then you should get this. Or if you thought it was to difficult, you should get this. There is so much bonus content that even if you have the Hurricane packs from Xboxlive, you should still check it out. This time around, there's a "Ninja Dog" difficulty (for you casual gamers and wimps) that makes the game much easier. There's also a new mission mode to look forward to. You can also unlock many different costumes for Ryu. So in close, if you're a die- hard Team Ninja fan (like me) then you must play this game! It also has a secret Dead Or Alive 4 trailer!
