Maybe I'm bias, cause I've never been much for 3-D fighters, but I like Dead or Alive on the original xbox, so I gave this one a shot. It's a decent fighter, to be sure, but the fun only lasts for a few days.
Story:Eh, it's a fighting game, it's really just a branch of mini stories between each fighter.
Graphics: I guess they are good for a launch game, but Tekken and Virtua Fighter blow it out the water. Character models are pretty decent, but hair is oddly stiff. The environments are nice and detailed though.
Sounds: I found it annoying that all dialogue was in Japanese. Even the Americans talk Japanese! They should have at least varied it up a little. Other than that, there's not alot going on other than the sounds of fists and kicks hit bodies.
Gameplay: It's a 3d fighter with alot of emphasis on grappling and special moves. Some of these moves can be tricky to pull off, but are a lot of fun once you figure them out. The CPU's are suprisingly tough! Even on normal they can beat you down if you don't know what you are doing. It's a good challenge, but unless you have someone to play multiplayer with alot, it gets old fast.
Overall: It's not a bad fighter, but you should save your money for something better.

Simply put this is exactly what I expected to follow up Dead or Alive 3. With the same familiar controls Dead or Alive is refreshed with new moves, outfits, and characters (especially a certain unlockable character). If you love fighting games, this one is for you regardless of if you've played the prequels. This fighting series is only bested by Soul Calibur and now Dragon Ball Z (sorry fanboys Tekken is 4th in line, followed by Street Fighter, and then Mortal Kombat). Go out and buy this as its price has been greatly lowered now.
Great Game!!!

The games awesome and there are so many little things that need to be accomplished that you'll be playing for hours.
Just short of a masterpiece

As soon as I heard about Team Ninja's, Dead or Alive 4 on the 360, my gamer-sense went off. It's the first game I played for the 360 and needless to say, it set a high standard. Aside from some of the best graphics to date and fluent and responsive controls, Dead or Alive capitalizes as an all around complete fighting game. The only downfall to it is like in most fighting games, short story mode. Graphics - 5/5 Story - 4/5 Gameplay - 4.75/5 Feel - 5/5 Sound - 4/5 Replayabilty - 4.75/5 Review Score - 4.75/5

If I wrote this review 1 1/2 years ago, it might have received a 4. But now that the pretty graphics wore off, and virtua fighter 5 gave this game a smack down, my eyes are open. The tag team battles only give you 3 arenas. Button mashing works. And the difficulty is a little extreme, forcing you to button mash in the later levels. Boo team ninja (never thought I'd say that)
beter than tekken

Ok this is the best fighting game your going to find for the next gen gaming. The game has everything that will keep you coming back for more. With the online system perfected you can't stop playing this game! Everyone has updates on thier fighting styles so you wont see any progress with button mashers. But the game now has a deeper depth on the storyline and adds a Halo character. If you want quick reactions and nonstop mayhem then this game is for you!
Amazing..

Hey, I may be a little slow at playing launch titles but about 2 months ago I bought this game as a Platinum Title for $29.99- Not bad for an Xbox 360 game. Well it gets better, yes the price is low and the box cover is very nice, but that isn't the only reason I give Dead Or Alive 4 a 5.0 in almost every category. Whether it be gameplay and graphics or sound and music.
Gameplay: Let's get started with the gameplay, the gameplay runs smooth and fast. Unlike previous Dead Or Alive games (slow moving characters, but also smooth) The combos and moves have gotten a lot bigger for this game; which adds even more fun and sometimes frustration to the game. Each character has their own unique moveset, which is really really nice because the moves aren't repetitive. There are a lot of game modes in Dead Or Alive 4 and the online is the best one out of them all. Overall: smooth and fun gameplay. 5.0
Graphics: Don't get me started about the stunning graphics because I can go on and on bragging about each and every detail of the characters and every detail of all the levels. This game is just a launch title and the graphics are amazing. There is so much detail in every level you play, so many effects and background things going on while you are fighting, which adds even more power to the game. The water in some of the levels is crystal clear, the trees and leaves in another level are thick with color and detail. Another level has cherry blossoms falling from a cherry blossom tree and each and every one of those cherry blossoms are gleaming with color. The details on the characters aren't much of an improvement from the last games the Xbox, but each detail shows improvement form the last games, which is such an important thing for gamers who love their graphics. Overall: 4.5
Sound and Music: Every song (Character theme song) in the game is fun, fast paced and flows well with the gameplay. 5.0
The whole game is packed with entertainment like no other. I highly recommend this game to fighting game fans and any non-gamer, it is just so good to pass up, so go now, buy this game for the Xbox 360! You will NOT be disappointed.
Awesome but too similar

The game's graphics are amazing. The japanese styled music is also amazing. Controls... there not bad. The only thing wrong about this near perfect game is that its unable to bring out something new about this awesome series. The scenery and backgrounds are always better than previous versions but they really need to add a new perspective of the game. The storylines aren't very detailed but you shouldn't expect much from a game like this. As always, the chicks are beautiful. In my opinion, a better way to help enhance this title is to allow characters with swords to actually use their swords. Characters with weapons makes a totally new perspective to an already enriched title. I can't wait for Dead or Alive 5. Team Ninja, congrats on another awesome title.
