Bored with nothing else to play

After losing all of my nintendo DS games except for the new super mario brothers i've had a lot of free time on my hands. so now as i near 10 million points i have decided to write a review. basically the game goes like this. some stupid dragon turtle thing steals peach after "Just a walk" with our hero Mario. he goes on an adventure save the princess blah blah blah. its essentially super Mario world with like 5 new twists to keep you and the pink sludge coming out of your ears which you have cleverly labeled a "Brain" interested. in the end it is a fun game but it can get really tedious trying to get all of the star coins and extra levels. but the mini games are an added bonus, but trying to beat your high score over and over and over again, just loses its edge. all in all its a worth while buy. but just do what i did and but the game used so you don't have to beat he game, just rip off of someone else's hard work.

AWESOME

This game is sort of like a reincarnation of the classic Mario games in the series (which is good, of course). It has a wide variety of levels and it the graphics are very good especially for a DS game. It doesn't get repetitive or boring, it just stays very good throughout the entire game. This game is a great game, and if you have a DS, buy it immediatly!

New Super Mario Bros.

New Super Mario Bros. is an excellent game. It follows the classic 2D side-scrolling movement from he old Mario games and has many of the old powerups. However, it features a new 3D perspective of the 2D world. Powerups The old Magic Mushroom is still in the game which changes Mario into Super Mario. The old Fire Flower also exists which changes Mario into Fire Mario. The Magic Star returns in which you will be invisible for a short amount of time. New Powerups A new Powerup, the Giant Mushroom turns Mario into a super-sized form in which he crushes many normally uncrushable and can Ground Pound randomly and Goombas or coins will rain from the sky. Another new powerup, the Mini Mushroom, can let Mario access new places via Mini Pipes, let Mario run across water, and briefly float in the air. Star Coins can be randomly found throughout levels which can in turn be used to unlock new areas and after the game is completed, new BG screens. There are three in every level. Skipping worlds I didn't realize the full extent of the game until after I defeated Bowser. There are a couple of worlds in which you will need to defeat as Mini Mario to unlock (sorry I'm not revealing those). The game is extreme fun although it ranks third best Mario game for me under SMB3 and the original. I do miss the old fly through the sky powerup. . .

A Classic Reborn

Nearly everyone has had an adventure with the Italian plumber and now he's back in an all new side scroller adventure.

Graphics:4.00 Imagine playing Super Mario Bros updated to 3D graphics and you know what you're getting. The Koopas are rounder, the pipes are greener, and Mario's overalls are crisper.

Sound:4.75 The soundtrack is classic Mario Bros with a little beeping noise there, a little bleeping there, and a little booping there. What else should you expect? This is New Super Mario Bros.!

Controls:5.00 The game uses your basic Mario Bros control scheme so there really isn't anything to complicated, one button to jump, d-pad to move, and that is nearly all you really need.

Gameplay: 4.75 So what's so "new" about this game you ask? Very little really, but that is the beauty of it. You know what you are getting and it is presented beautifully. Of course there are a few new power ups that allow you to turn into a Godzilla sized Mario or dawn a turtle shell, but other than that the gameplay almost remains unchanged.

If you like a good platformer or if you are just looking for a little nostalgia, but experience something new at the same time this is the game for you.

Old school meets new school

I'm a teenager,so I never really got to play the classic Mario games. So I decided to give this a spin. It was a good choice. This is classic Mario with better graphics, sound, and slightly simpler controls because of the touchpad. The story is pretty much what you would expect (Peach is kidnapped, gotta save her, blah blah blah). Gameplay works well with a healthy mix of platforming and fighting enemies. The level of difficulty is good. This game also includes the mini-games from Super Mario 64 (DS version). Multiplayer is nice, simple fun. One plays Luigi, the other plays Mario and you must steal each others stars. However, I have two complains. The save system is pretty bad and the mini-games get tiresome eventually. Anyway, if you like Mario or you just need a new DS game, I suggest you pick this one up.

Old school perfection

Take all the elements that made the 2d Mario's so good and then reinvent them to a new adventure and you get this game. The only thing I can say badly about it is that it was over too soon and maybe the fact that Yoshi is missing. All the new features and options though will quickly have you forgetting that in no time. There are lots of different levels and paths you can go on to finish so the replay value won't let you down. The minigames are also a blast and offer a great chance to finally make use of the touchscreen effectively in this game. As far as handheld games go, this one is practically unbeatable.
