Mario Kart games are almost always good, and this is no exception. The first DS game I actually enjoyed was this one. I love the gameplay, controls are very responsive, impressive graphics (especially for the DS), it has a good score, is REALLY addicting and fun, and the multi is good too. My only complaint is the lack of content, and repetitive-ness of the game. Otherwise, it is my favorite DS game.

The Best Kart game ever!>
When I first bought this I was a little worried, having played the GBA verson; I was afraid of the hard learning curve. As soon as I turn it on I was hooked. I got to relive courses from the past and new inventive corses. My faves include Waluigi Pinball, Delfino Square, Luigi's Mansion. The singles courses are challenging as you move up levels. I'm still trying to get three stars on all tracks.
Another great feature is that you play up to eight people via wi-fi local with one card. I tried it out a party, and we had a blast, although to make it fair, the one with the game in its slot has to choose a slow car, since all the others have shy guys with slow cars.
The online support is another great feature, you can play region or worldswide. They're a limited courses that you can play on. My tip for all, master the Rainbow course, you be raking in lots of wins if you perfect it. It also includes you friend codes, but call them ahead when playing, that way you play at the same time.
The con in online are the cheaters!
My record is 314-320 as I write this review. More than half of my losses are because of cheaters. You can drop out of the races if your opponent is cheating, but you are given a loss, sometimes two. Another, when you are going to win your cup after the fourth race and your opponet loggs off before you finish you aren't credited with the wins. I hope one day Nintendo can address these problems one day.
Anyhow, as side from these minor problems, I highly recommend this game with the highest rating! So much so I plan to buy another copy for my sons.

Mario is back yet again, and Mario's best YET!

Addictive gameplay Repetitive gameplay
Fantastic multiplayer Not enough content

Amazing visuals

First off this game is great. It is so much fun because you can race against the computer-controlled bots (singleplayer) or you can play on NFC (multiplayer) which I gotta tell you makes the game so much more fun. I like this game because of the huge variety of tracks that you can race on. This game of course also has the familiar characters that you know like Mario, Toad, Bowser, Dry Bones, Luigi, and so on. But the thing I like the most is definetly the Wifi support. Who doesn't like that feature??? It is just so much fun racing against other players around the world. This game really show people what great techonolgy we have today and how capable of doing things the DS really is.

On your mark...get set...GO!

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay Repetitive gameplay

Nintendo seems to have a knack for creating games that are fun for all ages. Mario Kart DS is no exception. Other than the fact that I'm not a big racing fan, I have no complaints.. There are a varity of modes of gameplay to keep you interested. I love the drifting and drafting abilities as well as the classic Mario Kart weapons. In Time Trial mode, you actually race against your best time, complete with a ghost version of your last race. This allows you to compete against yourself. In Battle Mode, the balloon battles are the best. The other battle is Shine Runners where you have to steal shines from other players. Grand Prix and Vs modes are where I tend to spend alot of my time, which is classic Mario Kart racing complete with the slinging of banana peels, turtle shells, and many other Mario weapons. The music and graphics are great, and some of the courses are a real delight to look at. I normally do not like racing games because I cannot seem to stay on the course like on game like Gran Turismo. I picked up on Mario Kart DS quickly, and once I got down the art of drifting through turns, I was addicted. I recommend this game for all ages.

Mario Kart DS is both a great addition to the Mario Kart series, and a superb handheld title. I really can't think of any other portable game that serves its purpose more valiantly than Mario Kart DS. The graphics are very well done, with details, colors, and effects visible all over the place. There is a huge selection of characters to select, and an even greater selection of vehicles to choose from. There are numerous new and nostalgic courses from the N64, and GBA, and SNES. The audio is excellent, with true surround sound that echo out through the DS speakers harmoniously. There is a lot of polish in this game, from the Kart handling, to the character advantages/ disadvantages. There are hidden shortcuts meticulously placed in certain levels that will give you a distinctive boost to keep you on the path to victory. There are different circuit cups to complete in the single player mode, which unlock new tracks and karts for your personal use, and there is also single card muliplayer, so that you can play with your friends even if they don't have the game. The multiplayer is fun and addictive. You can find yourself hooked on racing and beating your opponents. You can customize your Kart for online play, by designing a logo that gets displayed both on your name indicator and your Kart. The online play is a blast, and can consume several hours of your time. There are also balloon battle, and shine chasing modes to play- this shakes up the racing experience, because the emphasis isn't on completing a race or coming in first; it's on beating the snot out of your opponents. The items are crazy, and so are the characters. It's fun trying to select your favorite racers, karts, tracks, and finding shortcuts to use to your advantage in online mode. This is one of the best titles on the DS and will surprise you at the sheer amount of fun packed into it. Never again will you stay bored while waiting in an airport.

Mario Kart DS

This game is really good but there are a few complaints that I have. First off, Why the heck is ROB in this game. He isn't at all an important nintendo character. And still, he is givin the single best standard kart in the game. Also, I wish the Item selection was a little bit more random. You know that if your in first, your getting either a banana of a mushroom. If your in 2nd of 3rd, your getting a red shell, a mushroom or a green shell, and so on up to the best item in the game, The Coveted Bullet Bill. The tracks and characters are interesting though and i have no major complaints. five out of five, no questions asked. (except for the ROB thing)

NEW SUPER MARIO BROS!!!!!!

I would haf to say that IT IS AN AWESOME GAME!!!!! but it does lack some things. The things it lack would be- the amount of mega mushrooms there are in stages, it needs more characters.

The game, "Mario Kart DS" isn't all that, because it needs to be more better graphics and should be more challenging!
