Black

I thought this was a great gmae. The graphics were clear and the controls wre easy to get used to. The only flaw was the lack of any multiplayer content. I would recommend buying this.

The GTA of First Person Shooters.

When you first pickup Criterion games' Black, you think, "this is gonna be hours of mind blowing fun!!!" In almost ever way, this is true. Every mission has a variety of objects to blowup,(a huge variety)and blowup these objects do. Black is one of those games where accuracy is not very important, because everytime you miss your enemy he'll die anyways thanks to the gas tank sitting beside him, or that two-ton bus right behind him. You will be given plenty of weapons to blow these things up with, such as m16's, rpg's, and spas12's, and these are just a few of the weapons at your disposal. There are a few problems with black however, that set it back from a 5/5 to a 4/5. What makes black an awesome game is also what makes it an inperfect one. All you do in Black is shoot, nothing more. There aren't any cool extra controls that make Black unique, or any outstanding features to it's gameplay. All you do is shoot. This is very fun for the first few levels, and even the rest of the game, but it does get a little repetitive. I also noticed that if there are a lot of enemies firing, the game kind of freezes for a few seconds, and slows down, but I only noticed this on a few levels and this didn't really affect my joyous experience with the game. There is another problem that I thought was the most important factor in giving Black a 4 instead of a 5, there is no multiplayer. There isn't even a split-screen to duke it out with your buddy. You want some online play? Then don't look here., there isn't any. Overall Black is an exciting experience to behold. It has an amazing single player that really outshines many other FPS's, but the lack of multiplayer, splitscreen, and online, and the occasional slow-down's hinder this games ability to surpass a score of a 4/5.

Short but sweet!

What a game. Amazing graphics, outstanding sound, fun gameplay and incredible story make this a great game. But it's missing one thing-value. The game is very short and there's no multiplayer, let alone online play and there's no other modes. You unlock an extremely hard difficulty but this isn't really a game you'll play more than twice. If you're looking for a lenthy FPS shooter, then yu may want to rent this but if you couldn't care about value then buy this now.

As realistic as unrealistic can be, all alone that is.

By Asking Them Real Nice The game starts off with your character being led into an interrogation room, and is made to tell his story, which is heard loud and clear from the point of view of his gun. The first few levels are very engaging, with tombstones exploding from sniper fire and RPGs sending cars and humans up in flames. But after the 3rd or 4th of only 8 short levels the game begins to somewhat bore you with its repetitive and sometimes aggravating game play. With only 8 levels the game progresses rather quickly, but so does the story which while quick is also simple and even with an end game twist doesnt really hit you would have wanted it to. How the F*** Do You Think!? The true stars of the game are the guns, which are extremely realistic. You can watch you shells even fall out the side of your gun clattering onto the floor; each one defined and stays there the whole level. Same goes for dead bodies which when killed give you a great sense of accomplishment. You can rip through some walls and crates, most things in Black can be blown up or open. However it feels like you use the same 4 guns the whole game- shoot, reload, shoot, reload, etc. The big guns like snipers and RPGs are small treats you find once in a blue moon making sniping with no scope a common occurrence. To make up for this the guns you do use sound astounding, as if you were on the battlefield. The rat-atattat of the machine guns of an enemy can make the hairs on the back of your neck rise. Truly this is a game where surround sound is needed, or at least turn the volume way up. We Got Made Once you beat the eight fairly good looking levels which very from forest to bridge to inside underground hideouts, you dont really have any incentive to play again. So as there is no multiplayer and no replay ability except on harder difficulties for small rewards, once youve played the eight hour game your done. If the game was meant to be a single shot of adrenaline, then Criterion most definitely succeeded. However, lets hope in the sequel (which the games ending hints to being one) Multiplayer is implemented, maybe some more guns, easier difficulties and a few vehicles here and there. Overall though, Black is worthy of at least a play through, however short it is.-EnterTrueNextGen1117 -Developer: Criterion Studios -Publisher: EA Games -$49.99 -Available Now -FPS -1 Player -ESRB: M -Also on the Xbox

Intense!!

This game has serious adrenaline-pumping action. Turn up your surround sound and subwoofer and enjoy. It has realistic weapons and challenging levels. Great graphics too, but absolutely no multiplayer.

nice killing game

Black is amazing. even though it is a hard game; the eas y mode is not easy at all. The game takes ages to load. some of the enemies resist shotgun bullets but die from a punch.

Pretty good---worth at least a rental

Graphics 4.5 Good push on the PS2 limitations. Detailed guns, smoke, fog, haze, sunlight, shadows, detail is impressive at times. I don't like many missions in urban territory. City chaos in the first mission coupled with a forest assault in the second, followed by a war torn village in the third was a nice change of pace. Gameplay 3.0 Enemy AI sucked at times, but was sneaky at other times. It was freaky sniping people from the top floor of the farm house and hearing footsteps running up the stairs. It was overkill to have to shoot people eight times even for someone with body armor. Nice to have weapon exchanges. I would have enjoyed a split screen co-op mode. But no multiplayer modes exist. Controls 4.0 Fully customize-able controller, hated having to hold the zoom button while shooting an assault rifle. Sound 4.5 Good explosions, good gun noises, great music by Michael Giachinno: the Incredibles, Medal of Honor, Secret Weapons over Normandy, etc. I had chills on the second mission in the woods.

Black

Black a simple name for an ass kicking take no prisoners kill all the terrorists you can game. When I saw the commercial for this game it didn't really explain what the game was about meaning it was a sleeper so no one would know what the game is about until the game was played. Well I decided to pick up the game because I love First Person Shooters and I have to say I couldn't be happier the fact that you get to kill Terrorists and not care that is always a plus to me. The Graphics 5.0 out of 5.0 gameplay 5 out of 5 cutscenes 5 out of 5. acting 5 out of 5. overall game 10 out of 10, I recommend this game to anyone who loves First Person Shooters and hates Terrorists! So I say buy the game.
