This game may be old now, but it really was pretty good when it first launched. The graphics were really good for the time. The elements of the game were pretty good also. Look it is a Shooter, you shoot stuff at a fast rate. If you like shooters or just have to play a game that involves nonstop action, pick it up! This game is old however, so don't expect anything groundbreaking!

Pros Cons
Just plain fun

This game is a fun shooter with an interesting story line. The story looks quite good and plays out almost like an action film. The game is fun as far as shooters are concerned but can be a little annoying if you die and have to start from a random checkpoint as they seem to be spread quite a way apart.

Don't Believe the Hype

Well BLACK is a all around good game but lacks some much needed things. First no mulitplayer mode, wait a first person shooter with no mulitplayer wierd. Second control problems, the game seems to lack good quailty controls, it seems like you are always at a disadvantage. Some good points of the game are the realizm of the game, you actually feel like you are reloading the gun. Live action cut scenes gives a breathe of fresh air to the cut scenes. The game starts out strong but takes a downward spiral. The game has some long battles, some of the missions take over a hour to finish, that encludes collecting and doing all the side missions. With missions this long, and you can not save in between, so its all or nothing. But there is a some what silver lining to this game, if you on a escort mission, you partner can defend himself and get your back if you need it or get pin down by oncoming waves of reinforcements. One thing is true it is you againist the world in this game, your enemy may not be bright but they have serious fire power and lots of them to back them up. Remember to pick the right weapon for situation you are in, meaning the right weapon can save you on ammo loss and let you live to see another day. The game is good but short about ten missions, my overall score for this game is 8.2 out of 10. Maybe the sequel will fix these problems and add the mulitplayer mode.

Symphony of Destruction

This is a solid FPS by Criterion. So many things in the levels can be destroyed which just ups the fun factor. Missions are cool and the story can get cheesy but its a really good game.

It's time for another review by thebeast

BLACK is a FPS made by EA. The game has a general storyline. You are Sgt.Keller and you are trying to stop some kind terrorist guy. The games graphics don't look like ps2's. The game does has some challenges that are extreamly difficult to pull off, and often times will leave you cussing at the game, or making you throw your controller.Aside from that, this game is pretty good. $20 for it is a wise investment if you are looking for a challenging ps2 game.

Black - the last great FPS on PS2

Black was really the pinncale of the PS2 shooting experience for me because I don't really do the whole online thing that much because of how lame people can be; so this game was practically perfect to me. The game has been pressed with the label of "gun porn" because it is seriously not stop shooting the whole time. It's one of the only shooters that I've actually ran out of ammo during the game. The point to Black is a little cloudy but I guess that your Sgt. Keller was sent to take down a man named Lennox who led a terrorist organization called Seventh Wave. The thing that makes that special is that apparently your mission was never approved by the CIA so now you're under investigation. So yea you actually are re-living a story. The awesome thing about Black is that all of the levels are massive, they are kind of linear but they are massive. Although you have a basic path to where you are going you have slight choices on how to do it. The best example is the second level of the game you are in the middle of the forest and there are about three major ways to get to the farm at the end of the level and it's all up to you. The weapons are obviously the main point of the game and they are perform quite amazing. Even the pistols in the game are powerful enough to the point that later in the game you can still use the Glock and actually take down enemies. The guns sound amazing and the muzzle flash from them is spectacular. When bullets hit metal or wrought iron or something of that sort then the sparks that are emitted are just beautiful (especially for the PS2). Although the drawbacks is that some of the SMG's in the game have such low accuracy that it's almost impossible to fight with them. There are limitations to the game, and they are pretty big ones. The first is that the game is pretty short and leaves you wanting more. The next big thing...no multiplayer to heard of. Not even a deathmatch option or anything, I think that was a huge mistake on Criterion's part; that would have made the game so much fun if they included a multiplayer. Co-op would have been amazing. Overall it's a solid shooter and for the PS2 it's probably the best you're going to get, but with a few drawbacks to the game you better be a hardcore FPS fan to really, really enjoy this game.

Guns a Blazing

The game is fantastic for all of you FPS fans out there with a PS2. The controll has some getting used to, but it will fell natural after a while. The story line is a little dry and hard to follow, but i assure you will be saying, "is this a PS2 game?" because of the unbelievable graphics. A perfect formula untill you get to the multiplayer aspect. There is no multiplayer whatso ever. So if a friends over, you'll have to take turns. But this is a sure buy for all gamers out there still with a PS2. But the game could have used a bit more gore... Graphics- 5.0 Controll- 4.0 Sound - 4.0
