This game can't escape the close comparisons to Dawn Of The Dead. There are some similarities, but this game stands out on its own. Close to 60,000 zombies, a handful of insane bosses, injured survivors, and an intellectual storyline surround you, 1 man fighting a losing battle. The graphics are good, and variety of weapons offer a gory good time, the size of the mall, & the many cases you have to solve will keep you coming back for more. Hell, you'll want to play to find out all the multpile endings. I just wish the subtitles were easier to read, for those without HDTVs. Overall, an original and entertaining piece from Capcom.

Dead Rising is just what every person that loves zombies or horror movies dream for. You run around a mall filled with zombies and where everything is a weapon and you think this game is perfect. Well it almost is there are some minor flaws. The controls are ok but shooting is very odd, the graphics are ok but not really next-gen, the zombies are too easy to kill while some of the bosses are too hard to kill, theres no multiplayer which would have been nice, and the save system is odd. But overall this game is orginal and that is why I love it.

Dead rising was one of the coolest looking 360 games (to me) in 2006.Well i finally played it and sadly i was a bit disappointed.Yeah killing zombies with countless weapons is fun the story is cool but the controls are a bit sloppy and the graphics weren't really next gen to me.But if your into countless zombie killing or just running around riding skateboards and trying on clothes then this is your kind of game.Just not my kind of game.
very fun game

Dead rising is an action game made by Capcom(wow they've never made a game like this before!!), Its a action game that puts you in the place of frank a journalist who came to the city to discover what is going on and finds a horrible site of a mall surrounded by zombies.Just to start really playing the game you will need to spends some time leveling up before you can actually start playing the game. I got to level 20 just to play it safe, and i really started to play . the story is a bit on the weak side but the gameplay makes up for it most of the t9ime. the aiming in dead rising could use some work and the camera isn't that great as well, and unless you have a hdtv then you will be stuck with small nearly unreadable text. But all in all this ia a decent and enjoyable game, and it was my first game i ever played on the 360, but sadly the fun won't last forever. Heres hoping for dead rising 2!

This game inteds to be funny, and I applaud it for doing so. Over the course of the game, players will be trapped in a mall with thousands of zombies, and he is able to fight them off with his bare hands (not recommended) and the various products, tools, and eventually, even zombies he finds. Weapons include the excavator, shovel, lead pipe, shotgun, jewelery, and much more. The graphics have some rough edges, but nothing unforgivable. The sound is spot on, except for some below-average voice acting. The controls are fun and easy to use. This game will keep the buyer entertained for a long, long time. I recommend renting this game before buying it, because there are a few quibbles I had with it. The AI is nearly impossible to work with, especially survivors. This is rectified when you have to carry them or hold their hand to get them to safety, but free ones will be dead within five minutes. Also, the janitor Otis will chime in over a walkie talkie every once in a while. When you start this, you cannot attack the zombies. If one injures you, you will be forced to hear the whole thing over again. But don't let this deter you. Dead Rising is a great game that should not be missed.

i was a bit reluctant about getting dead rising. I had heard good things, and i had heard bad things. After my friend telling me it was awesome, i finally got my copy for $35 at best buy. in dead rising, you play as frank west, a har-edged photojournalist looking for the scoop of a lifetime. he learns about the no-name town of willamette, colorado. the town has been shut off completly-communications,roads-and frank decides this is his chance. after landing on the roof of the towns local shopping mall, things get a little hectic for frank. In dead rising, basically everything is a weapon. seriously. soda cans? check. hedge clippers? check. baseball bat?check. the list goes on and on. hell, you even get to hit zombies with stuffed animals. of course, you got shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols......but you will barely use these compared to the elite melee weapons-chainsaws,katanas, and knives. this game really lives up to what it says on the box. "almost everything is a weapon" or something. the story is carried out through case files, which are like time-sensitive story missions. you have a lot of extra time between these missions, so the game decided to include scoops-optional non-story related kission that are also time-sensative-rather than make you run around killing zombies for an hour. these scoops are broken up into saving survivors, killing bosses, and saving survivors. thats not a typo. you save a lot of survivors. these missions wouldnt be so tedious if it werent for the crappy survivor AI. sometimes instead of following you they'll either kill(or push) zombies or walk straight into hordes of the undead. at least the game gives u a lot of points for them. on the other hand, sometimes u fight the bosses......called psychopaths...that have gone crazy because of the zombie incident. these guys range from a family of snipers to an evil clown who juggles chainsaws. by doing the games missions, saving survivors, beating bosses, finding the games plentiful easter eggs, or the biggie, KILLING ZOMBIES,you get prestige points, which are like exp. points that level you up to level 50. by leveling up you get stronger, faster, able to hold more items, get more health, and learn a ton of ridiculous wrestling moves. the moves ranged form roundhouse kicks to the allmighty disembowel move. this is all very engaging and assures that you will be playing until you get to lvl 50. after you get through the games main 72-hour mode(which will take you about 7 hours to complete)you get the overtime mode, and then the infinity mode in which its free for all. but about the 72 hour mode.....i seriously doubt you will beat it on your first try. heck, i didnt. the game only has one save spot, and you can only save in the security room and the mall's public bathrooms, so if you save in a bad spot, ur screwed, and you will have to start the game over again. the good news is when you start a new gam you keep the skills form before. there are plenty of little things to do in the mall. when you pass a clothing store, you can sample the threads. in book stores, you can take books, some of which greatly increase durability of certain items. i personally prefer the criminal biographies book(which affects all bladed weapons) and the engineering book(all hardware items). with some weapons, you can get 3 books for the same weapon, so you could keep the weapon for basiccaly forever. then you can get potions, which give frank superhuman abilities, like invincebility and super speed. all this stuff can be ignored, but it all makes the game more enjoyable. Dead Rising is one of games where either you love it or you hate it. i for one, love it. graphics- 4.25 design-4 gameplay-4.75 sound-5 overall-4.5
