Prey

This games was great from the very begining to the end. The graphics are great, gameplay was very easy especialy since you really never ever actually died and had to start a level all over. The weapon selection was quite unique, by mid game you had seven choices, from monkey wrench to a alien sphere rocket launcher. The aliens for being so advanced, were very stupid when it came to fire fights. The best part of the game was the wall walking and the gravity switches that depicted wether you were walkig on the floor or the ceiling. Alright now, a must rent? Absalutly, with one or two rentals you will conquer the alien race and "The Mother". A must buy? no not really, unless your wanting it for online play.

Prey on this!

Prey is a pretty good solid game that has made it's way onto the 360. The story starts you off without a care in the world and wanting to get away with your girlfriend. You beat down a bunch of drunks and the story moves on... to a much DEEPER scenario as you are abducted. The game really carries that intense tone early on and really sucks you in. The only turn off is the fact that you are pretty much invincible and have the ability to just come back from the dead.

The game is and the multiplayer doesn't have a heavy dose of customization, but the deathmatches are still a blast to play. If you are a hardcore FPS gamer looking for something after Quake 4 and are not into PD0, then at least give this game a rental.

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

A game that was deemed dead has finally come out for the Xbox 360 back in June. It took almost a decade for this FPS to come out. The game begins in a native american reservation with the protagonist Tommy in the men's restroom of his grandfather's bar. As soon as the game begins, you get sucked into the alien mothership known as "The Sphere". What a great beginning to a game. What I like about this game is that in the beginning, Tommy doesn't believe in his heritage and wants break free from it. Having lost his girlfriend and grandfather in "The Sphere", he goes out and looks for them. Events in the game force Tommy to make personal decisions and to later embrace his heritage. The graphics for this game are amazing. I consider this the first next-gen game. G.R.A.W was great, but this game is unbelievable. I didn't have any frame rate issues while playing. P.R.E.Y uses insane portal technology, a whole new way to play a FPS. Tommy later uses the ability to "Spirit Walk", leaving his physical body and having his spirit walk around the game to open up portals and walkways. A great innovation for the next generation. This makes the game worthwhile in my opinion. Few things that bothered me about this game. For one it was way too easy. I'm used to playing FPS's where i duck and cover, look for ammo, stradegize, and go for the kill. When you die in the game, instead of the Game Over screen and having to start from the beginning of your last save point, you go to an alternate world. Here, you are in spirit mode and you use your spirit arrows to shoot down spirits to fill up your life and spirit energy so you can return to the living world. Because of this feature, it makes the game easy. You can fight a boss, die, respawn, and keep shooting. Way too easy. Another thing that bothered me was that it was too short of a game. It runs about 10-12 hours. I took my time the first time around and it took me about 17 hours. Theses are just minor issues about the game. Overall this game is a must play. That's why I give it a 4.5. I can't wait for the sequel. -El Chupacabra

The Next Step

I felt a weird sensation while playing this game. It was a weird sensation that I haven't felt in 12 years. When I first played Doom. That sensation was a mixture of surprize, shock, and fun. Each time you find a new weapon, you feel as though you've been handed a gift. Each one is original, different, and needed. No throw away weapons here. Each gun is balanced so it is not weak or too powerful. They all have their special purpose for certain enemies. Which brings me too my next point. The enemies are as varied as the weapons and their introductions into the games are well planned. The first time you see the Centurion is a shock to the senses, and following battle is what every boss battle should be: challenging and fun. All of this would not matter if the gameplay wasn't there, but luckily it is. Every shot you fire into enemy flesh has a great, pounding feel and being able to do it is simple thanks to the great controls. The gameplay mechanics that would've been just gimmicks in other, lesser games(portal, gravity walls, and vehicles), are exploited so well that it seems like just a rational part of the exciting action. The gravity walls and portals are especially fun. One of the best parts in the game is how it handles death. You don't die, you go into a spirit realm and shoot the souls of the enemies you have killed to replenish your energy and health. It's fun and makes the games challenging enemies much more manageable. Prey is one of the most solid and enjoyable shooters since Doom. It is not only a great game for FPS fans, but for gamers in general. Don't miss it.

Pretty damn good

Just played through the Prey demo and am pleasently surprised. The first level or 2 are a little lame but essential to the story. Once you get through that the game gets pretty cool. The "out of body experiance" needed to get past certain areas is a new twist and the whole "spirit world" when you die is another really cool and differant concept. When you die, instead of restarting from the last checkpoint or the begining of the level you are transported to this alternate world. The object is to kill these dragan flying things, the more you kill the more life you have when you are revived at the same spot you died in. Pretty good game, try the demo!!
