ps3 new price and games

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Doesn't live up to expectations
Awesome audio
Just plain fun

I just got a ps3 when the price and games where better. I was a little disapointed that it still couldnt play ps2 games that were cheaper. The system and the games made up for it so I think it was a good use of $.

What the title says... it is. Think about it you 360 owners/ fanboys. Let me ask you just one SIMPLE question. Was there a vast leap between Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 besides online service, and amount of games? My answer will be 'no.' No because the 360 is basically an HD Xbox 1 with better components. As for the PS3 it jumped to Blu- ray (Something NEW from 6th generation), and it jumped to having an 8- core processor (CELL). That's impressive to me. PS3 is a monster yet, it has a very low failure rate! Sony pushed the PS3 forward unlike M$ they pushed 360 a little forward. And with BD having 50 GB of storage? Future PS3 games that take up everything can fit 6 Halo 3's. So yeah.......i really think Sony took the PS3 to a whole different level. Like entirely a whole different level. Okay maybe i'm exaggerating just a bit. Well yeah there it is.

ive been an owner of the 80 gb motorstorm ps3 for coming on 3/4 of a year. i could not be happier with my purchase, and it was 110% worth the price. this definately proves that you get what you pay for. i love some of the exclusives, such as resistance, uncharted, and gran turismo 5: prologue, and im looking very happily forward towards some other games like heavy rain, LPB, resistance 2, gran turismo 5(the actual full finished product), M.A.G., valkeria chronicles, ff versus 13 and although its not a game, home. ive made tons of new friends playing online through psn. i understand that people say psn isnt that great, and that xbl is better, albeit costly, but i would be willing to challange that. sure, you can send someone a vioce message on xbl, but i dont see that as being that important. if i wanted, i could just call them, or whip out a usb keyboard and type out my message in a few minutes. with the recent addition of ingame messaging, ive been able to communicate with others quickly in an online game, and just have a regular chat if we're playing different games. another useful addition has to be the greatness that is 1080p. i also like that it has bluray, because after ive started watching bluray, ive never wanted to go back. dvd quality is so 'ehh...' compared to it. its also great to have the bluray because of its massive storage for on game disks. take LBP as an example; its using 40 gb's of the disk. that means its nearly using the whole thing. those 40gb's would equal a startling 5 xbox dvd disks, which, admit it, is completely impractical. sure, you can say a downside to the bluray would be having to install most of the games right now, but really, on average it takes 5 minutes or less, and if you want, you can just go watch tv till its done, no biggie. and say you run out of space; you can just easily run out, buy a 2.5 inch hard drive(sata), and quickly install it and have it running in probably 10 minutes. also, these hard drives are cheaper than the special ones you are forced to use for the 360. you might have noticed that i put not enough content in the cons. while this is true at the moment, the game list is currently exploding with great games. plus, i dont even have the money to buy half of the games i want with how expensive games are, so it doesnt even affect me really, because sure i could say, yea, those are great games, but in reality, i probably wouldnt get half of them anyway(as opposed to the list of games im looking forward to, which i will most likely get all of). i forgot to mention before, the awesomeness of a browser has been very useful to me, if i need to pull something up quickly, but my computer is turned off. in conclusion, I LOVE THIS CONSOLE TO DEATH. i would get REALLY bored if i couldnt have this thing, and i might go play that wii i picked up a while ago :/. if you took the time to read this entire thing, then wow, you are either really bored, or you just do this because its what you normally do. oops, i almost forgot about the abilty to use things like bluetooth headsets, thats really convenient.

I own both systems, the 360 and the ps3 both have their pros and cons. The 360 and the ps3 both have store that you can access for free both offering classic titles and original titles by small and large developers.

The Ps3 downloaded movie content has the upper hand ,you can purchase movies and transfer the titles to your PSP for mobile viewing this also goes for their psone games they offer, they can be transferred from ps3 to PSP as well. The PS3 also offers the option to share downloaded games content with up to five PSP or PS3 consoles. Smart move on Sony's part.

However the PS3 online may be free but far from XBOX live, the PSN is a joke right now although there is huge room for improvement, which in recent statements Sony has said they are behind the service and wish to continue to improve it. QOS (quality of service) is issues plauge the PSN and the games playable online. Although in moths since i started playing the amount of time between service being dropped has gone down it is still to common , during gaming marathons it is often that i have to reconnect and get person to reinvite me over again to play in a match. In the end you get what you pay for.

No consistence in backwards compatibility either in the ps3 with the multiple sku's out there sure you may have to have a hard drive to have limited backwars compatiblity with the 360 but the PS3 offering are more convoluted. The 60 Gig ( no longer availble) offers almost full backwards compatibility for ps2 titles , the 20 and 40 gig offer none, the 80 gig limited. At least the ps3 is consistent in being inconsistent.

Blu-ray a lot of confusion over blu-ray has tricked people into thinking that this would magically make the games high def or generally better. This only offers the storage compacity to make the games better if the developers take use of it. Movies however are a different story although at first they software for blu-ray wasn't on par with HD-DVD as far as features go the (menu web info and such ,long load times), the picture quality of blu-ray is superior if you have a high def T.V.

As far a an all around media center or hub it slightly fails, it doesn't play nice with Media Center PC it can stream most or all of your music but with videos it's hit and miss. Plus side though you can copy music over from you computer to the PS3 hard drive and on to your PSP. You can also do this with videos as long as they are in the correct format. The xbos360 outshines the PS3 in this aspect with the exception being you can't copy things from you PC to the 360 hard drive. the 360 allows you to stream music from your ps3 even during game play. Video streaming is pretty well done and work with about 80 percent of formats which is much more than the PS3 can do currently. If you have a media center version of windows or VIsta then you have tons of more offering at your hand, It can play and record TV , stream live HD signals to your 360 along with music , pictures and much more depending on your set up.

The last thing that i would also like to touch on is that the PS3 is not user friendly to hook up the PS3 to a HI-DEF TV requires that you know you way around the system options. the ps3 doesn't automatically recognize that its hooked up to a HI-DEF TV I have come across many friends that have it all hooked up but have been playing in the lowest resolution the PS3 offers because of this. The Xbox 360 will auto adjust the display setting depending on how your system is hooked up for the best picture you set can display. The only downside about that though is that is will pick 1080i if it is available over 720p, which if you don't have 1080p set is better to play games with(720p) over the 1080i. If you don't know what i am talking about i suggest you to google it.

Like i said i do have both but if i were to do it again I would by another 360 over a PS3 although i would sure miss those blu-ray movies.

PS3 is the best console I ever owned since Xbox. I never owned an Xbox 360 because PS3 has so many feautres and more to come. There store is free and games are well priced. Playing online is also free. Ps3 will be getting more and more games in the months. If you don't own a PS3 get one! The remote is lite and the console is well designed it can play PS1 and PS2 games and the store has great hit PS1 games to download.

BEST BET NOT TO BREAK DOWN

Only reason its not a 5 yet is game library. Just added dual shock and always adding great DL content. Can combine with a PSP to do some really cool stuff. Top it of no red rings very little hardware issues across the board, not a fan boy have a 360 and wii just think this is the most impressive as far as potential.
