Its ok

This was a good game but i just wish they didnt get rid of the normal story mode.I like how they did the whole new story mode but the shouldn't have gotten rid of the old one they should have had bot types. On the plus side it had good graphics, good characters and it was a really fun game

Nicely done

I have to say that sould calibur three really ets it done. There is enough single player action to keep me going for sometime. The multiplayer is what brings out the best in a game. The only place it loses points is lack of an online multiplayer. The thing that realy shines is the create a character. You can really customise your character to the max and have stunning battles without using any dev created character.

Sweet Soul Calibur

Soul Calibur while it has nothin to do with the calibur of a Soul it does have somethin to do with fighting and swords and chicks. Soul Calibur is back with beter graphics, *crowd cheers* more modes,*crowd cheers* more characters,*crowd screams* and create a character mode. *crowd lose voices* this game is even better than before and now u can create characters to challenge the warriors and make them have their own army. The new story mode is different and each caharacter has about 5 different endings each so this makes u want to see all. Chronicles of the sword is cool and is a strategy mode of the game where your fighting skills and strategy help u accomplish the mission. Soul Calibur is sweet and keeps me excited for the fourth one.

created character ARE GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you cant use your created character, in the entire game, basicaly you can only use the created character in the vs. mode and practice! I think thats retarded, we should at least be able to use the characters in tales of soules, whats the point of having a character that you created and only use it on your friends, thats gay, I thought there was going to be much more to do with the characterswe created!!!!!!!!!!

Soul Calibur III

Remember those times in kindergarten when you and your friends pretend your just a bunch of power rangers but stabbing each other to grim bloody defeat. Then the game for you is Soul Calibur III, without the blood and power rangers. A whole new Calibur The game is bigger and has more characters but all realted to the same goal: find Soul Calibur to save or soul Edge to kill. The game even has a Create-A-Character mode. There is also a new Chronicles of the Sword mode where travel to places with an army to save your country. The new stages are real impressive as with the improved graphics. More Souls Only three new characters have been added but there's also a bigger roster. YOu can add to it when you create your new soul with its own moves and unique look. There is a lot of customization in it with unlockables. By playing Chronicles you will get more characters and clothes and move sets for your person. Your created character can only be used in Cronicles and regular vs. modes. Lasting of the Soul the game is much better improvement to the previous. It ihas better fights, more modes, and stuff to unlock. the game gives you a fresh plate of things to take. The tournament mode will be an achievement since you can only go once per tournament and cant save where you left off. The game has a lot of stuff but can get boring a little unless you find something new to take your attention.

this game is terrible.......

okay, maxi is by far the BEST charecter in the game. along with tira. both charecters have a really good story line and their not cheap. seriously buy this game if you don't belive me! maxi has alwys been my fav charecter since soul calibur1 next to xianghua. but oh, sc's main heroin is now reduced to a kiddie-girly little bitch wimp. and her great command list well, once great commande list is crap, and cheap like most of the charecters. and her storyline is pethetic, i mean she can't even stab soul edge without crying in kilik's arms! WTF namco, tell me what were you thinking? and the intro movie was terrible probably because of lack of maxi. you'd ask me if it wasn't for maxi there would not be a soul calibur. and the intro is boring, the grapics stick out true, but with most of the charecters looking cartoony and fake, the game is crap. and chronicles of the sword shold be called chrinicals of the bord! it's terrible and playing through the same levels over and over do not seem to amuse me. charecter creation mode is garbage. crap. dogdoodoo. and raphael the best charecter in the previos installment sc2 is now a stupid vampire, and has a dumb voice over too. and his nice stance game is gone, let alone his charecter. his moves are cheap, easy to pull off, and he has a crappy little poke game. witch is garbage. and his combos have been toned DOWN. and tales of souls hmmmmm once again maxi and tira you win me with this one. jeez namco what were you thinking.....

Solid, but Ultimately Unrewarding

A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold. The first time Soul Calibur came out, who would have realised the statement was meant to be taken literally. Yes, here we are again with Soul Calibur 3 as it pulls out all it's old tricks with few new ones, and this proves to be it's main problem. The game is as good as ever. The fighting mechanics are as fluid as last time and the graphics have shown a slight increase in polish, but there just isn't enough content added to justify the update. Besides some new stages, 3 new characters, and a useless "strategy based" game, and a create a character feature, nothing has changed that much. In fact, the create a character feature is the games saving grace. After unlocking new parts the options become quite numerous for a custom character and pitting a creation against a friend's proves to be quite fun as the only real feeling of accomplishment surfaces. But besides that, it's just Soul Calibur 2 with 3 new characters and acutal cinemas for the character endings. Yet again, half of them are just plain unrewarding. In fact, that seems to be the main feeling here. Besides the create a character feature, it's all just the same. Now it does sound like that this review is unusually harsh, but don't be mistaken. Soul Calibur 3 is still a good game to buy if you don't own 2. But the rest of the gaming community should decide if a character creation system is enough to warrant a purchase.

Namco... it's not 1999 anymore

Ahh Soul Calibur 2, that was a fun game. Three different guest stars, three different systems, fun new characters, nice graphics and sound, and so on. But Soul Calibur 2, this is not. It's been completely downgraded from SC2. It's only on one system, there's no new guest stars, the voices put me to sleep, and the graphics are mediocre. The fighting engine is still intact. Fighters have new moves, there's new fighters, and they're all pretty balanced. I didn't like some of the new moves/replacements. If you love to read, then you'll love the storymode. It's the most boring single player experience I have ever encountered. There is almost no acting what so ever. Only reading. Games from 2005 should have good voice acting and sound effects. This sounds like an N64 game. Speaking of games from 2005... there's a little thing called online play. Especially for a fighting game. Offline fighting games in 2005 is unacceptable. The character creation is ok, but not very deep. There's also Chronicles of the Sword mode. A total snooze fest. If you are a hard core Soul Calibur fan, you will be greatly dissapointed. Graphics 4.5, Sound 3.0, Controls 4.0, Funfactor 3.5

More good than bad

A definite improvement over SCII, Soul Calibur III has more of a story driven feel to its arcade mode, and scenes and fights that don't limit it to just another fighting game. The Create a Character feature is a nice add-on to the series, but it could have been better. Especially since you had to create different characters for different modes of play. Another idea that could have been done better was the Chronicles of the Sword mode. The idea is sound, but the execution of CotS could have been better. Lastly, I could do without the flie corruption glitch that causes me to walk on eggshells. I waited with anticapation for Soul Calibur III to be released just as much as I waited for SCII, and it was very much worth the wait. Even with some flaws, I take the bad with the good and Soul Calibur III has more good than bad. Sir MIDNIGHT

This game is probably my favorite fighting game of all time, i love the chronicles of the sword mode, its difficult but very fun. The new character creator mode is pretty sick and the whole MESS of characters is amazing too. DEFINATLY a 5
