Review For Starfox

Starfox: Assault is one of the better games on the 'Cube that I've played in a while. Sure, Tales of Symphonia is deeper, Metroid Prime 2 more bloodpumping, but hey, what can you expect from Starfox? The graphics are wicked. Fox's hair flowing in the wind is always a site to watch and glance at. Most of the weapons are really cool, especially the Camera-Enabled Rocket Launcher. The thing that brings it down by a but are the textures on the walls, which are somewhat choppy and dull. Otherwise, the characters are very well put together compared to some of the other shooters out there. The sound is so-so compared with other games. The Arwing, Landmaster and the explosions sound terrific. However, the thing that totally kills this is the voiceovers. In no way are they terrible, they're just very repetitive and get annoying after awhile. However, they do let you know what's going on with storyline and with your wingmates. The gameplay in this game is truly incredible. Graphics and sound aside, blasting aparoids with a rocket launcher is just pure fun. The best part of the game are the Arwing themed levels which offer high flying experiences that are awesome. However, there are only 4-5 levels that HAVE the Arwing, and only 2(off the top of my head) that have you flying the whole time. Not only that, but the game is MUCH too short. The game makes up for this with unlockable multiplayer arenas, weapons and characters. You can even unlock new modes that allow for weapon specific combat(such as a homing missle melee). The multiplayer is a good load of fun and will keep you and your friends occupied for quite some time. Overall, Starfox: Assault is an awesome game. It's a good present for any Easter basket, or if you're cheap, it's a good week rental.
Best GameCube Game in a while!

Besides the fact this game is quite short, it has awesome graphics and amazing detail. They finally made Fox's voice sound a little more mature, and Falco sure has changed. The controls are a little confusing, but as soon as you get used to it, you'll have no problem. Multiplayer is back, and it's never been sweeter. Bottom Line- this game rocks out loud!!
A game that could have lived up to its predecessors but fails.

Before the Gamecube, Star Fox was about a fast-paced shooter that many would be able to pickup and enjoy. On the Cube, though, Fox has undergone a few changes. Fox's first outing on the Gamecube was really what Star Fox fans wanted with all of the collecting and more Zeldaesque gameplay. Leaving more to be desired. Star Fox Assault shed some light at first but in the end it was a dissapointment. The levels strictly with the Arwing are a blast to play through. They are able to perfectly recapture what Star Fox and Star Fox 64 were about. Fast paced shooting levels that were fun. But they came too few and far between. Only three of the ten missions were based around the railshooting. The onfoot mission really drag down the game. They just seemed more like a chore. The controls were a drag and it was just boring holding down the R button so you can shoot you blaster with a stronger shot. Sure there are more weapons but they do not help too much. The part that really brought the game down thought were the shooting sequences on the wings. They would not have been too bad because it was pretty fun with all of the enemies coming and having that sense of dread. But when you realize that you are just going around in a small circle, it just gets to be pointless and tedious. The graphics are not topnotch for the Gamecube, but they are not horrible either. The frame rate holds up pretty well. And, yes, there is plenty of the voice acting that one can expect from a Star Fox game. I never thought that I would have missed Slippy's original voice. It also makes you realize why Nintendo does not put much voice acting in any of their Zelda or Mario games. In the end Star Fox Assault is an average game. It is not horrible in anyway. It's just frustrating to get an excellent game like Star Fox 64 and then the mediocracies of Adventures and Assault.
Great Game, but missing something

Before I start, I must say that I've always loved Starfox games because they've kept up a strong game that required quick reflexes. When I learned Namco, producer of the great Time Crisis series, was making this game, my hopes soared, imaginining the intense fighting. While Assault did not capture the break-neck pace that I expected, it is still a great game, only on Gamecube. Assault intended to capture the action of the 64 version. They did a very good job of this. The ability to get out of vehicles and travel into buildings was a welcome addition. Something that I belive was missing was the non-linear gameplay from the 64 version. Although you ended up in the same place, you could travel many paths, leaving much replayability. Assault made up for this by making the levels much longer, sometimes taking near 20 mins on a single level. As for multiplayer, the action is relatively fast and, while certainly not the size of Halo, still a very good game to play with three friends. The main problem with it was balancing. Krystal had very subpar stats, while Wolf had an unfair advantage. Still, it comes down the the skill of the player. The other feature that should have been in the game would be a two-player coop mode. That would split the action up between the ground and the air and made it more replayable. The only replayability this game has is to earn medals. As in 64, once you obtain a certain amounts of 'hits', you would be awarded a medal. In 64, Master mode and the ability to drive Landmasters and be a hologram in Versus mode were rewards. In Assault, you get a bonus game, 'Xevious', once you get all silver medals. The only way to obtain multiplayer unlockables is to play multiplayer over and over again. Once you reach a certain number of matches, you get something. Not the best idea, in my opinion, but then again, I can't come up with a better one. Overall, I was satisfied for the rental period, but I'm not gonna buy it until the price is lowered.

Wow!! this is one of the best Nintendo games I have seen in a while! What makes this game really special is the fact that they brought back the popular arwing, and Land Master. They also made it interesing by adding the third-person-shooter mode. In the game you see the return of many old characters suck as Wolf, Leon, and the other Members of Star wolf. And you also get to see a softer side of wolf as the story unfolds. It has a great way of evening out the three different game modes (arwing, Landmaster, and third person shooter) But it is a really short story.
NICE MIX - BETTER THAN THE FIRST

Once again StarFox takes to the skies and although the game made some vast improvements from the first Gamecube version I would have liked to see the Airwing levels go a little faster. Maybe its me but it seems that I'm going in slow motion on these levels. The multi-players addition is great for parties and friends. Overall another Great addition to the Starfox/Gamecube family.
Nice one

Starfox Assault delivers ground and arwing missions. But while in the ground you will sometimes find an Arwing or a Landmaster. The things that annoy the game is that is so hard to roll with fox on the ground in order to avoid shots. Also Landmaster controls are tricky. But Overall if you are a Starfox fan than you will definetely enjoy this one.
